      <verse number='1'>The <strongs number="1697">word</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="1961">came</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs><strongs number="5921 1697">concerning</strongs>the <strongs number="1226">dearth</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="56">mourneth</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8179">gates</strongs>thereof <strongs number="535">languish</strongs>; they are <strongs number="6937">black</strongs>unto the <strongs number="776">ground</strongs>; and the <strongs number="6682">cry</strongs>of <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>is gone <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And their <strongs number="117">nobles</strongs>have <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>their little <strongs number="6810">ones</strongs>to the <strongs number="4325">waters</strongs>: they <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="5921">to</strongs>the <strongs number="1356">pits</strongs>, <em> and </em><strongs number="4672">found</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="4325">water</strongs>; they <strongs number="7725">returned</strongs>with their <strongs number="3627">vessels</strongs><strongs number="7387">empty</strongs>; they were <strongs number="954">ashamed</strongs>and <strongs number="3637">confounded</strongs>, and <strongs number="2645">covered</strongs>their <strongs number="7218">heads</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'><strongs number="5668">Because</strongs>the <strongs number="127">ground</strongs>is <strongs number="2865">chapped</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="1653">rain</strongs>in the <strongs number="776">earth</strongs>, the <strongs number="406">plowmen</strongs>were <strongs number="954">ashamed</strongs>, they <strongs number="2645">covered</strongs>their <strongs number="7218">heads</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'><strongs number="1571">Yea</strongs>, the <strongs number="365">hind</strongs>also <strongs number="3205">calved</strongs>in the <strongs number="7704">field</strongs>, and <strongs number="5800">forsook</strongs><em> it </em>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="1877">grass</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And the wild <strongs number="6501">asses</strongs>did <strongs number="5975">stand</strongs><strongs number="5921">in</strongs>the high <strongs number="8205">places</strongs>, they snuffed <strongs number="7602">up</strongs>the <strongs number="7307">wind</strongs>like <strongs number="8577">dragons</strongs>; their <strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>did <strongs number="3615">fail</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs><em> there </em><em> was </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="6212">grass</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="518">though</strongs>our <strongs number="5771">iniquities</strongs><strongs number="6030">testify</strongs>against us, <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>thou <em> it </em>for thy name's <strongs number="4616 8034">sake</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>our <strongs number="4878">backslidings</strongs>are <strongs number="7231">many</strongs>; we have <strongs number="2398">sinned</strongs>against thee. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>O the <strongs number="4723">hope</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, the <strongs number="3467">savior</strongs>thereof in <strongs number="6256">time</strongs>of <strongs number="6869">trouble</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">why</strongs>shouldest thou <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>as a <strongs number="1616">stranger</strongs>in the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>, and as a wayfaring <strongs number="732">man</strongs><em> that </em>turneth <strongs number="5186">aside</strongs>to <strongs number="3885">tarry</strongs>for a night? </verse>
      <verse number='9'><strongs number="4100">Why</strongs>shouldest thou <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>as a <strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="1724">astonished</strongs>, as a mighty <strongs number="1368">man</strongs><em> that </em><strongs number="3201 3808">cannot</strongs><strongs number="3467">save</strongs>? yet <strongs number="859">thou</strongs>, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <em> art </em>in the <strongs number="7130">midst</strongs>of us, and we are <strongs number="7121">called</strongs>by thy <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>; <strongs number="5117">leave</strongs>us <strongs number="408">not</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'><strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>unto <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, <strongs number="3651">Thus</strongs>have they <strongs number="157">loved</strongs>to <strongs number="5128">wander</strongs>, they have <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="2820">refrained</strongs>their <strongs number="7272">feet</strongs>, therefore the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>doth <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7521">accept</strongs>them; he will <strongs number="6258">now</strongs><strongs number="2142">remember</strongs>their <strongs number="5771">iniquity</strongs>, and <strongs number="6485">visit</strongs>their <strongs number="2403">sins</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>me, <strongs number="6419">Pray</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="1157">for</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="5971">people</strongs>for <em> their </em><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'><strongs number="3588">When</strongs>they <strongs number="6684">fast</strongs>, I will <strongs number="369">not</strongs><strongs number="8085 413">hear</strongs>their <strongs number="7440">cry</strongs>; and <strongs number="3588">when</strongs>they <strongs number="5927">offer</strongs>burnt <strongs number="5930">offering</strongs>and an <strongs number="4503">oblation</strongs>, I will <strongs number="369">not</strongs><strongs number="7521">accept</strongs>them: <strongs number="3588">but</strongs><strongs number="595">I</strongs>will <strongs number="3615">consume</strongs>them by the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>, and by the <strongs number="7458">famine</strongs>, and by the <strongs number="1698">pestilence</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>I, <strongs number="162">Ah</strongs>, <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs><strongs number="3069">GOD</strongs>! <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, the <strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs><strongs number="559">say</strongs>unto them, Ye shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7200">see</strongs>the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>shall ye <strongs number="1961">have</strongs><strongs number="7458">famine</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">but</strongs>I will <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>you <strongs number="571">assured</strongs><strongs number="7965">peace</strongs>in <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="4725">place</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Then the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>me, The <strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs><strongs number="5012">prophesy</strongs><strongs number="8267">lies</strongs>in my <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>: I <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>them <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>have I <strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs>them, <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs><strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>them: <strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="5012">prophesy</strongs>unto you a <strongs number="8267">false</strongs><strongs number="2377">vision</strongs>and <strongs number="7081">divination</strongs>, and a thing of <strongs number="434">naught</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8649">deceit</strongs>of their <strongs number="3820">heart</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'><strongs number="3651">Therefore</strongs><strongs number="3541">thus</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5921">concerning</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs>that <strongs number="5012">prophesy</strongs>in my <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>, and <strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>them <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>, yet <strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="559">say</strongs>, <strongs number="2719">Sword</strongs>and <strongs number="7458">famine</strongs>shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="1961">be</strongs>in <strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="776">land</strongs>; By <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>and <strongs number="7458">famine</strongs>shall <strongs number="1992">those</strongs><strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs>be <strongs number="8552">consumed</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>to <strongs number="834">whom</strongs><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="5012">prophesy</strongs>shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>cast <strongs number="7993">out</strongs>in the <strongs number="2351">streets</strongs>of <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs><strongs number="4480 6440">because</strongs>of the <strongs number="7458">famine</strongs>and the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>; and they shall have <strongs number="369">none</strongs>to <strongs number="6912">bury</strongs><strongs number="1992">them</strongs>, <strongs number="1992">them</strongs>, their <strongs number="802">wives</strongs>, nor their <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, nor their <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>: for I will <strongs number="8210">pour</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="7451">wickedness</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>Therefore thou shalt <strongs number="559">say</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1697">word</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>them; Let mine <strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>run <strongs number="3381">down</strongs>with <strongs number="1832">tears</strongs><strongs number="3915">night</strongs>and <strongs number="3119">day</strongs>, and let them <strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="1820">cease</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="1330">virgin</strongs><strongs number="1323">daughter</strongs>of my <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>is <strongs number="7665">broken</strongs>with a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="7667">breach</strongs>, with a <strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="2470">grievous</strongs><strongs number="4347">blow</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'><strongs number="518">If</strongs>I go <strongs number="3318">forth</strongs>into the <strongs number="7704">field</strongs>, then <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>the <strongs number="2491">slain</strongs>with the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>! and <strongs number="518">if</strongs>I <strongs number="935">enter</strongs>into the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, then <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>them that are <strongs number="8463">sick</strongs>with <strongs number="7458">famine</strongs>! <strongs number="3588">yea</strongs>, <strongs number="1571">both</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs><strongs number="1571">and</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>go <strongs number="5503">about</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>a <strongs number="776">land</strongs>that they <strongs number="3045">know</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>Hast thou utterly <strongs number="3988 3988">rejected</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>? hath thy <strongs number="5315">soul</strongs><strongs number="1602">loathed</strongs><strongs number="6726">Zion</strongs>? <strongs number="4069">why</strongs>hast thou <strongs number="5221">smitten</strongs>us, and <em> there </em><em> is </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="4832">healing</strongs>for us? we <strongs number="6960">looked</strongs>for <strongs number="7965">peace</strongs>, and <em> there </em><em> is </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>; and for the <strongs number="6256">time</strongs>of <strongs number="4832">healing</strongs>, and <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs><strongs number="1205">trouble</strongs>! </verse>
      <verse number='20'>We <strongs number="3045">acknowledge</strongs>, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, our <strongs number="7562">wickedness</strongs>, <em> and </em>the <strongs number="5771">iniquity</strongs>of our <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>we have <strongs number="2398">sinned</strongs>against thee. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>Do <strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="5006">abhor</strongs><em> us </em>, for thy name's <strongs number="4616 8034">sake</strongs>, do <strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="5034">disgrace</strongs>the <strongs number="3678">throne</strongs>of thy <strongs number="3519">glory</strongs>: <strongs number="2142">remember</strongs>, <strongs number="6565">break</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs>thy <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>us. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>Are <strongs number="3426">there</strongs><em> any </em>among the <strongs number="1892">vanities</strongs>of the <strongs number="1471">Gentiles</strongs>that can cause <strongs number="1652">rain</strongs>? <strongs number="518">or</strongs>can the <strongs number="8064">heavens</strongs><strongs number="5414">give</strongs><strongs number="7241">showers</strongs>? <em> art </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs><strongs number="1931">he</strongs>, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>? therefore we will <strongs number="6960">wait</strongs>upon thee: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs>hast <strongs number="6213">made</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs><em> things </em>. </verse>
