      <verse number='1'>So <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs><strongs number="7901">slept</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>his <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>, and they <strongs number="6912">buried</strongs>him in the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>of <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>: and <strongs number="609">Asa</strongs>his <strongs number="1121">son</strongs><strongs number="4427">reigned</strongs>in his <strongs number="8478">stead</strongs>. In his <strongs number="3117">days</strongs>the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>was <strongs number="8252">quiet</strongs><strongs number="6235">ten</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And <strongs number="609">Asa</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs><em> that </em><em> which </em><em> was </em><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>and <strongs number="3477">right</strongs>in the <strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>his <strongs number="430">God</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='3'>For he took <strongs number="5493">away</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4196">altars</strongs>of the <strongs number="5236">strange</strongs><em> gods </em>, and the high <strongs number="1116">places</strongs>, and broke <strongs number="7665">down</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4676">images</strongs>, and cut <strongs number="1438">down</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="842">groves</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And <strongs number="559">commanded</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>to <strongs number="1875">seek</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of their <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>, and to <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>the <strongs number="8451">law</strongs>and the <strongs number="4687">commandment</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>Also he took <strongs number="5493">away</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the high <strongs number="1116">places</strongs>and the <strongs number="2553">images</strongs>: and the <strongs number="4467">kingdom</strongs>was <strongs number="8252">quiet</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And he <strongs number="1129">built</strongs><strongs number="4694">fenced</strongs><strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>in <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>had <strongs number="8252">rest</strongs>, and he had <strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="4421">war</strongs>in <strongs number="428">those</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>had given him <strongs number="5117">rest</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>Therefore he <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, Let us <strongs number="1129">build</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>, and make <strongs number="5437">about</strongs><em> them </em><strongs number="2346">walls</strongs>, and <strongs number="4026">towers</strongs>, <strongs number="1817">gates</strongs>, and <strongs number="1280">bars</strongs>, <em> while </em>the <strongs number="776">land</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="5750">yet</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>us; <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>we have <strongs number="1875">sought</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, we have <strongs number="1875">sought</strongs><em> him </em>, and he hath given us <strongs number="5117">rest</strongs>on every <strongs number="4480 5439">side</strongs>. So they <strongs number="1129">built</strongs>and <strongs number="6743">prospered</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And <strongs number="609">Asa</strongs><strongs number="1961">had</strongs>an <strongs number="2428">army</strongs><em> of </em><em> men </em>that <strongs number="5375">bore</strongs><strongs number="6793">targets</strongs>and <strongs number="7420">spears</strongs>, out <strongs number="4480">of</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>; and out of <strongs number="4480 1144">Benjamin</strongs>, that <strongs number="5375">bore</strongs><strongs number="4043">shields</strongs>and <strongs number="1869">drew</strongs><strongs number="7198">bows</strongs>, two <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs>and <strongs number="8084">fourscore</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>: <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs><em> were </em>mighty <strongs number="1368">men</strongs>of <strongs number="2428">valor</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And there came <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="413">against</strongs>them <strongs number="2226">Zerah</strongs>the <strongs number="3569">Ethiopian</strongs>with a <strongs number="2428">host</strongs>of a <strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>, and <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="4818">chariots</strongs>; and <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="4762">Mareshah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>Then <strongs number="609">Asa</strongs>went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="6440">against</strongs>him, and they set the battle in <strongs number="6186 4421">array</strongs>in the <strongs number="1516">valley</strongs>of <strongs number="6859">Zephathah</strongs>at <strongs number="4762">Mareshah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And <strongs number="609">Asa</strongs><strongs number="7121">cried</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>his <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <em> it </em><em> is </em><strongs number="369">nothing</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>thee to <strongs number="5826">help</strongs>, <strongs number="996">whether</strongs>with <strongs number="7227">many</strongs>, or with them that have <strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="3581">power</strongs>: <strongs number="5826">help</strongs>us, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>we <strongs number="8172">rest</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>thee, and in thy <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>we <strongs number="935">go</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1995">multitude</strongs>. O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="859">thou</strongs><em> art </em>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>; let <strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="582">man</strongs><strongs number="6113">prevail</strongs><strongs number="5973">against</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>So the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5062">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3569">Ethiopians</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="609">Asa</strongs>, and <strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>; and the <strongs number="3569">Ethiopians</strongs><strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And <strongs number="609">Asa</strongs>and the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>him <strongs number="7291">pursued</strongs>them <strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="1642">Gerar</strongs>: and the <strongs number="4480 3569">Ethiopians</strongs>were <strongs number="5307">overthrown</strongs>, that they could <strongs number="369">not</strongs><strongs number="4241">recover</strongs>themselves; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>they were <strongs number="7665">destroyed</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="6440">before</strongs>his <strongs number="4264">host</strongs>; and they carried <strongs number="5375">away</strongs><strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="7235">much</strongs><strongs number="7998">spoil</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And they <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>round <strongs number="5439">about</strongs><strongs number="1642">Gerar</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="6343">fear</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="1961">came</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>them: and they <strongs number="962">spoiled</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs>exceeding <strongs number="7227">much</strongs><strongs number="961">spoil</strongs>in them. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>They <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>the <strongs number="168">tents</strongs>of <strongs number="4735">cattle</strongs>, and carried <strongs number="7617">away</strongs><strongs number="6629">sheep</strongs>and <strongs number="1581">camels</strongs>in <strongs number="7230">abundance</strongs>, and <strongs number="7725">returned</strongs>to <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
