      <verse number='2'>And he <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="471">Eliakim</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>the <strongs number="1004">household</strongs>, and <strongs number="7644">Shebna</strongs>the <strongs number="5608">scribe</strongs>, and the <strongs number="2205">elders</strongs>of the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>, <strongs number="3680">covered</strongs>with <strongs number="8242">sackcloth</strongs>, <strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3470">Isaiah</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="531">Amoz</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And they <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>him, <strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs><strongs number="2396">Hezekiah</strongs>, <strongs number="2088">This</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs><em> is </em>a <strongs number="3117">day</strongs>of <strongs number="6869">trouble</strongs>, and of <strongs number="8433">rebuke</strongs>, and <strongs number="5007">blasphemy</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>are <strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="5704">to</strongs>the <strongs number="4866">birth</strongs>, and <em> there </em><em> is </em><strongs number="369">not</strongs><strongs number="3581">strength</strongs>to bring <strongs number="3205">forth</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='8'>So <strongs number="7262">Rab</strongs>-shakeh <strongs number="7725">returned</strongs>, and <strongs number="4672">found</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs><strongs number="3898">warring</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="3841">Libnah</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>he had <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs>he was <strongs number="5265">departed</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 3923">Lachish</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='13'><strongs number="346">Where</strongs><em> is </em>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="2574">Hamath</strongs>, and the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="774">Arpad</strongs>, and the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>of <strongs number="5617">Sepharvaim</strongs>, of <strongs number="2012">Hena</strongs>, and <strongs number="5755">Ivah</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And <strongs number="2396">Hezekiah</strongs><strongs number="3947">received</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5612">letter</strongs>of the <strongs number="4480 3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="4397">messengers</strongs>, and <strongs number="7121">read</strongs>it: and <strongs number="2396">Hezekiah</strongs>went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>into the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="6566">spread</strongs>it <strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='17'>Of a <strongs number="546">truth</strongs>, <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, the <strongs number="4428">kings</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs>have <strongs number="2717">destroyed</strongs>the <strongs number="1471">nations</strongs>and <strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="776">lands</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='18'>And have <strongs number="5414">cast</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>into the <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>, <strongs number="3588 518">but</strongs>the <strongs number="4639">work</strongs>of <strongs number="120">men</strongs>'s <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs>, <strongs number="6086">wood</strongs>and <strongs number="68">stone</strongs>: therefore they have <strongs number="6">destroyed</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='19'><strongs number="6258">Now</strongs>therefore, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, I beseech <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>, <strongs number="3467">save</strongs>thou us out of his <strongs number="4480 3027">hand</strongs>, that <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="4467">kingdoms</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">earth</strongs>may <strongs number="3045">know</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs><em> art </em>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>, <em> even </em>thou <strongs number="905">only</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='24'><strongs number="589">I</strongs>have <strongs number="6979">digged</strongs>and <strongs number="8354">drunk</strongs><strongs number="2114">strange</strongs><strongs number="4325">waters</strongs>, and with the <strongs number="3709">sole</strongs>of my <strongs number="6471">feet</strongs>have I dried <strongs number="2717">up</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="2975">rivers</strongs>of besieged <strongs number="4693">places</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='25'>Hast thou <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="8085">heard</strongs>long <strongs number="4480 7350">ago</strongs><em> how </em>I have <strongs number="6213">done</strongs>it, <em> and </em>of ancient <strongs number="4480 3117 6924">times</strongs>that I have <strongs number="3335">formed</strongs>it? <strongs number="6258">now</strongs>have I brought it to <strongs number="935">pass</strongs>, that thou shouldest <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>to lay <strongs number="7582">waste</strongs><strongs number="1219">fenced</strongs><strongs number="5892">cities</strongs><em> into </em><strongs number="5327">ruinous</strongs><strongs number="1530">heaps</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='26'>Therefore their <strongs number="3427">inhabitants</strongs>were of <strongs number="7116">small</strongs><strongs number="3027">power</strongs>, they were <strongs number="2865">dismayed</strongs>and <strongs number="954">confounded</strongs>; they <strongs number="1961">were</strongs><em> as </em>the <strongs number="6212">grass</strongs>of the <strongs number="7704">field</strongs>, and <em> as </em>the <strongs number="3419">green</strongs><strongs number="1877">herb</strongs>, <em> as </em>the <strongs number="2682">grass</strongs>on the <strongs number="1406">housetops</strongs>, and <em> as </em><em> corn </em><strongs number="7711">blasted</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>it be grown <strongs number="7054">up</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='27'>But I <strongs number="3045">know</strongs>thy <strongs number="3427">abode</strongs>, and thy going <strongs number="3318">out</strongs>, and thy coming <strongs number="935">in</strongs>, and thy <strongs number="7264">rage</strongs><strongs number="413">against</strongs>me. </verse>
      <verse number='28'><strongs number="3282">Because</strongs>thy <strongs number="7264">rage</strongs><strongs number="413">against</strongs>me and thy <strongs number="7600">tumult</strongs>is come <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>into mine <strongs number="241">ears</strongs>, therefore I will <strongs number="7760">put</strongs>my <strongs number="2397">hook</strongs>in thy <strongs number="639">nose</strongs>, and my <strongs number="4964">bridle</strongs>in thy <strongs number="8193">lips</strongs>, and I will turn thee <strongs number="7725">back</strongs>by the <strongs number="1870">way</strongs>by <strongs number="834">which</strongs>thou <strongs number="935">camest</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='29'>And <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><em> shall </em><em> be </em>a <strongs number="226">sign</strongs>unto thee, Ye shall <strongs number="398">eat</strongs>this <strongs number="8141">year</strongs>such things as grow of <strongs number="5599">themselves</strongs>, and in the <strongs number="8145">second</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>that which springeth of the <strongs number="7823">same</strongs>; and in the <strongs number="7992">third</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs><strongs number="2232">sow</strongs>ye, and <strongs number="7114">reap</strongs>, and <strongs number="5193">plant</strongs><strongs number="3754">vineyards</strongs>, and <strongs number="398">eat</strongs>the <strongs number="6529">fruits</strongs>thereof. </verse>
      <verse number='30'>And the <strongs number="7604">remnant</strongs>that is <strongs number="6413">escaped</strongs>of the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>shall yet <strongs number="3254">again</strongs>take <strongs number="8328">root</strongs><strongs number="4295">downward</strongs>, and <strongs number="6213">bear</strongs><strongs number="6529">fruit</strongs><strongs number="4605">upward</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='31'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 3389">Jerusalem</strongs>shall go <strongs number="3318">forth</strongs>a <strongs number="7611">remnant</strongs>, and they that <strongs number="6413">escape</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 2022">mount</strongs><strongs number="6726">Zion</strongs>: the <strongs number="7068">zeal</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><em> of </em><em> hosts </em>shall <strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='32'><strongs number="3651">Therefore</strongs><strongs number="3541">thus</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="413">concerning</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs>, He shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">nor</strongs><strongs number="3384">shoot</strongs>an <strongs number="2671">arrow</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">nor</strongs>come <strongs number="6923">before</strongs>it with <strongs number="4043">shield</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">nor</strongs><strongs number="8210">cast</strongs>a <strongs number="5550">bank</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>it. </verse>
      <verse number='33'>By the <strongs number="1870">way</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>he <strongs number="935">came</strongs>, by the same shall he <strongs number="7725">return</strongs>, and shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, <strongs number="5002">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='34'>For I will <strongs number="1598 413">defend</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, to <strongs number="3467">save</strongs>it, for mine own <strongs number="4616">sake</strongs>, and for my <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>'s <strongs number="4616">sake</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='35'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs><strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3915">night</strongs>, that the <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs>, and <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs>in the <strongs number="4264">camp</strongs>of the <strongs number="804">Assyrians</strongs>a <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="8084">fourscore</strongs>and <strongs number="2568">five</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>: and when they arose <strongs number="7925">early</strongs>in the <strongs number="1242">morning</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, they <em> were </em><strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="4191">dead</strongs><strongs number="6297">corpses</strongs>. </verse>

And <strongs number="634">Esarhaddon</strongs>his <strongs number="1121">son</strongs><strongs number="4427">reigned</strongs>in his <strongs number="8478">stead</strongs>. </verse>
