<verse number='1'>But it <strongs number="7489 413">displeased</strongs><strongs number="3124">Jonah</strongs><strongs number="7451 1419">exceedingly</strongs>, and he was very <strongs number="2734">angry</strongs>. </verse>
<verse number='2'>And he <strongs number="6419">prayed</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, I pray <strongs number="577">thee</strongs>, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <em> was </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs>my <strongs number="1697">saying</strongs>, when I <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="5704">yet</strongs><strongs number="5921">in</strongs>my <strongs number="127">country</strongs>? <strongs number="5921 3651">Therefore</strongs>I <strongs number="1272">fled</strongs><strongs number="6923">before</strongs>unto <strongs number="8659">Tarshish</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>I <strongs number="3045">knew</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs><em> art </em>a <strongs number="2587">gracious</strongs><strongs number="410">God</strongs>, and <strongs number="7349">merciful</strongs>, <strongs number="750">slow</strongs>to <strongs number="639">anger</strongs>, and of <strongs number="7227">great</strongs><strongs number="2617">kindness</strongs>, and <strongs number="5162">repentest</strongs>thee <strongs number="5921">of</strongs>the <strongs number="7451">evil</strongs>. </verse>
<verse number='3'>Therefore <strongs number="6258">now</strongs>, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="3947">take</strongs>, I beseech <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>, <strongs number="*853"></strongs>my <strongs number="5315">life</strongs><strongs number="4480">from</strongs>me; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><em> it </em><em> is </em><strongs number="2896">better</strongs>for me to <strongs number="4194">die</strongs>than to <strongs number="4480 2416">live</strongs>. </verse>
<verse number='4'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, Doest thou <strongs number="3190">well</strongs>to be <strongs number="2734">angry</strongs>? </verse>
<verse number='5'>So <strongs number="3124">Jonah</strongs>went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, and <strongs number="3427">sat</strongs>on the east <strongs number="4480 6924">side</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, and <strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="6213">made</strongs>him a <strongs number="5521">booth</strongs>, and <strongs number="3427">sat</strongs><strongs number="8478">under</strongs>it in the <strongs number="6738">shadow</strongs>, <strongs number="5704">till</strongs>he might <strongs number="7200">see</strongs><strongs number="4100">what</strongs>would <strongs number="1961">become</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>. </verse>
<verse number='6'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="4487">prepared</strongs>a <strongs number="7021">gourd</strongs>, and made <em> it </em>to come <strongs number="5927">up</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">over</strongs><strongs number="3124">Jonah</strongs>, that it might <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>a <strongs number="6738">shadow</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>his <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>, to <strongs number="5337">deliver</strongs>him from his <strongs number="4480 7451">grief</strongs>. So <strongs number="3124">Jonah</strongs><strongs number="8055">was</strongs>exceeding <strongs number="1419 8057">glad</strongs><strongs number="5921">of</strongs>the <strongs number="7021">gourd</strongs>. </verse>
<verse number='7'>But <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="4487">prepared</strongs>a <strongs number="8438">worm</strongs>when the <strongs number="7837">morning</strongs><strongs number="5927">rose</strongs>the next <strongs number="4283">day</strongs>, and it <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="7021">gourd</strongs>that it <strongs number="3001">withered</strongs>. </verse>
<verse number='8'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, when the <strongs number="8121">sun</strongs>did <strongs number="2224">arise</strongs>, that <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="4487">prepared</strongs>a <strongs number="2759">vehement</strongs><strongs number="6921">east</strongs><strongs number="7307">wind</strongs>; and the <strongs number="8121">sun</strongs><strongs number="5221">beat</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>of <strongs number="3124">Jonah</strongs>, that he <strongs number="5968">fainted</strongs>, and <strongs number="7592">wished</strongs><strongs number="854">in</strongs><strongs number="5315">himself</strongs>to <strongs number="4191">die</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <em> It </em><em> is </em><strongs number="2896">better</strongs>for me to <strongs number="4194">die</strongs>than to <strongs number="4480 2416">live</strongs>. </verse>
<verse number='9'>And <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3124">Jonah</strongs>, Doest thou <strongs number="3190">well</strongs>to be <strongs number="2734">angry</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs>the <strongs number="7021">gourd</strongs>? And he <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, I do <strongs number="3190">well</strongs>to be <strongs number="2734">angry</strongs>, <em> even </em><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="4194">death</strongs>. </verse>
<verse number='10'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="859">Thou</strongs>hast had <strongs number="2347">pity</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>the <strongs number="7021">gourd</strongs>, for the <strongs number="834">which</strongs>thou hast <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5998">labored</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>madest it <strongs number="1431">grow</strongs>; which came <strongs number="1961">up</strongs><strongs number="7945 1121">in</strongs>a <strongs number="3915">night</strongs>, and <strongs number="6">perished</strongs><strongs number="1121">in</strongs>a <strongs number="3915">night</strongs>: </verse>
