      <verse number='1'>And <strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="40">Abimelech</strongs>there <strongs number="6965">arose</strongs>to <strongs number="3467">defend</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="8439">Tola</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="6312">Puah</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="1734">Dodo</strongs>, a <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of <strongs number="3485">Issachar</strongs>; and <strongs number="1931">he</strongs><strongs number="3427">dwelt</strongs>in <strongs number="8069">Shamir</strongs>in <strongs number="2022">mount</strongs><strongs number="669">Ephraim</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And he <strongs number="8199">judged</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs>and <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>, and <strongs number="4191">died</strongs>, and was <strongs number="6912">buried</strongs>in <strongs number="8069">Shamir</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="310">after</strongs>him <strongs number="6965">arose</strongs><strongs number="2971">Jair</strongs>, a <strongs number="1569">Gileadite</strongs>, and <strongs number="8199">judged</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs>and <strongs number="8147">two</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And he <strongs number="1961">had</strongs><strongs number="7970">thirty</strongs><strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>that <strongs number="7392">rode</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs><strongs number="7970">thirty</strongs>ass <strongs number="5895">colts</strongs>, and they had <strongs number="7970">thirty</strongs><strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>, which are <strongs number="7121">called</strongs><strongs number="2334">Havoth</strongs>-jair <strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> are </em>in the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="1568">Gilead</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='6'>And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs><strongs number="7451">evil</strongs><strongs number="3254">again</strongs>in the <strongs number="5869">sight</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="5647">served</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1168">Baalim</strongs>, and <strongs number="6252">Ashtaroth</strongs>, and the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of <strongs number="758">Syria</strongs>, and the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of <strongs number="6721">Zidon</strongs>, and the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of <strongs number="4124">Moab</strongs>, and the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="5983">Ammon</strongs>, and the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>, and <strongs number="5800">forsook</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="5647">served</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And the <strongs number="639">anger</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>was <strongs number="2734">hot</strongs>against <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and he <strongs number="4376">sold</strongs>them into the <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>, and into the <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="5983">Ammon</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>they <strongs number="7492">vexed</strongs>and <strongs number="7533">oppressed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: <strongs number="8083 6240">eighteen</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>, <strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> were </em>on the other <strongs number="5676">side</strongs><strongs number="3383">Jordan</strongs>in the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>of the <strongs number="567">Amorites</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> is </em>in <strongs number="1568">Gilead</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>Moreover the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="5983">Ammon</strongs>passed <strongs number="5674">over</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3383">Jordan</strongs>to <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>against <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, and against <strongs number="1144">Benjamin</strongs>, and against the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="669">Ephraim</strongs>; so that <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>was <strongs number="3966">sore</strongs><strongs number="3334">distressed</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="2199">cried</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, We have <strongs number="2398">sinned</strongs>against thee, both <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>we have <strongs number="5800">forsaken</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and also <strongs number="5647">served</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1168">Baalim</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="3413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <em> Did </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><em> I </em><em> deliver </em><em> you </em>from the <strongs number="4480 4714">Egyptians</strongs>, and <strongs number="4480">from</strongs>the <strongs number="567">Amorites</strongs>, <strongs number="4480">from</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="5983">Ammon</strongs>, and <strongs number="4480">from</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='12'>The <strongs number="6722">Zidonians</strongs>also, and the <strongs number="6002">Amalekites</strongs>, and the <strongs number="4584">Maonites</strongs>, did <strongs number="3905">oppress</strongs>you; and ye <strongs number="6817">cried</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>me, and I <strongs number="3467">delivered</strongs>you out of their <strongs number="4480 3027">hand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>Yet <strongs number="859">ye</strongs>have <strongs number="5800">forsaken</strongs>me, and <strongs number="5647">served</strongs><strongs number="312">other</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>: <strongs number="3651">wherefore</strongs>I will <strongs number="3467">deliver</strongs>you <strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="3254">more</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'><strongs number="1980">Go</strongs>and <strongs number="2199">cry</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>ye have <strongs number="977">chosen</strongs>; let <strongs number="1992">them</strongs><strongs number="3467">deliver</strongs>you in the <strongs number="6256">time</strongs>of your <strongs number="6869">tribulation</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, We have <strongs number="2398">sinned</strongs>: <strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs>unto us <strongs number="3605">whatsoever</strongs>seemeth <strongs number="2896">good</strongs><strongs number="5869">unto</strongs>thee; <strongs number="5337">deliver</strongs>us <strongs number="389">only</strongs>, we pray <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>, <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='17'>Then the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="5983">Ammon</strongs>were gathered <strongs number="6817">together</strongs>, and <strongs number="2583">encamped</strongs>in <strongs number="1568">Gilead</strongs>. And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>assembled themselves <strongs number="622">together</strongs>, and <strongs number="2583">encamped</strongs>in <strongs number="4709">Mizpeh</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><em> and </em><strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>of <strongs number="1568">Gilead</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="376">one</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="7453">another</strongs>, <strongs number="4310">What</strongs><strongs number="376">man</strongs><em> is </em><em> he </em><strongs number="834">that</strongs>will <strongs number="2490">begin</strongs>to <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs>against the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="5983">Ammon</strongs>? he shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs><strongs number="7218">head</strongs>over <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="3427">inhabitants</strongs>of <strongs number="1568">Gilead</strongs>. </verse>
