      <verse number='1'>And <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="6667">Zedekiah</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="2977">Josiah</strongs><strongs number="4427">reigned</strongs><strongs number="8478">instead</strongs>of <strongs number="3659">Coniah</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="3079">Jehoiakim</strongs>, <strongs number="834">whom</strongs><strongs number="5019">Nebuchadnezzar</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="894">Babylon</strongs>made <strongs number="4427">king</strongs>in the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>But <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs><strongs number="1931">he</strongs>, nor his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>, nor the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>, did <strongs number="8085">hearken</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">words</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>he <strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs><strongs number="3027">by</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="6667">Zedekiah</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3081">Jehucal</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="8018">Shelemiah</strongs>and <strongs number="6846">Zephaniah</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="4641">Maaseiah</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="6419">Pray</strongs><strongs number="4994">now</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="1157">for</strongs>us. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Now <strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>came <strongs number="935">in</strongs>and went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="8432">among</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>: for they had <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5414">put</strongs>him into <strongs number="1004 3628">prison</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>Then <strongs number="6547">Pharaoh</strongs>'s <strongs number="2428">army</strongs>was come <strongs number="3318">forth</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 4714">Egypt</strongs>: and when the <strongs number="3778">Chaldeans</strongs>that <strongs number="6696 5921">besieged</strongs><strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs><strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="8088">tidings</strongs>of them, they <strongs number="5927">departed</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">from</strongs><strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>Then <strongs number="1961">came</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">word</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='7'><strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>; <strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs>shall ye <strongs number="559">say</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, that <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>you <strongs number="413">unto</strongs>me to <strongs number="1875">inquire</strongs>of me; <strongs number="2009">Behold</strongs>, <strongs number="6547">Pharaoh</strongs>'s <strongs number="2428">army</strongs>, which is come <strongs number="3318">forth</strongs>to <strongs number="5833">help</strongs>you, shall <strongs number="7725">return</strongs>to <strongs number="4714">Egypt</strongs>into their own <strongs number="776">land</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And the <strongs number="3778">Chaldeans</strongs>shall come <strongs number="7725">again</strongs>, and <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, and <strongs number="3920">take</strongs>it, and <strongs number="8313">burn</strongs>it with <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'><strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>; <strongs number="5377">Deceive</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="5315">yourselves</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, The <strongs number="3778">Chaldeans</strongs>shall surely <strongs number="1980 1980">depart</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">from</strongs>us: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>they shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="1980">depart</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs><strongs number="518">though</strongs>ye had <strongs number="5221">smitten</strongs>the <strongs number="3605">whole</strongs><strongs number="2428">army</strongs>of the <strongs number="3778">Chaldeans</strongs>that <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs><strongs number="854">against</strongs>you, and there <strongs number="7604">remained</strongs><em> but </em><strongs number="1856">wounded</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>among them, <em> yet </em>should they <strongs number="6965">rise</strongs>every <strongs number="376">man</strongs>in his <strongs number="168">tent</strongs>, and <strongs number="8313">burn</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="5892">city</strongs>with <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, that when the <strongs number="2428">army</strongs>of the <strongs number="3778">Chaldeans</strongs>was broken <strongs number="5927">up</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">from</strongs><strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>for <strongs number="4480 6440">fear</strongs>of <strongs number="6547">Pharaoh</strongs>'s <strongs number="2428">army</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='12'>Then <strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>went <strongs number="3318">forth</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 3389">Jerusalem</strongs>to <strongs number="1980">go</strongs>into the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="1144">Benjamin</strongs>, to separate <strongs number="2505">himself</strongs><strongs number="4480 8033">thence</strongs>in the <strongs number="8432">midst</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And when <strongs number="1931">he</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs>in the <strongs number="8179">gate</strongs>of <strongs number="1144">Benjamin</strongs>, a <strongs number="1167">captain</strongs>of the <strongs number="6488">ward</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>, whose <strongs number="8034">name</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="3376">Irijah</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="8018">Shelemiah</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="2608">Hananiah</strongs>; and he <strongs number="8610">took</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="859">Thou</strongs>fallest <strongs number="5307">away</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="3778">Chaldeans</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>, <em> It </em><em> is </em><strongs number="8267">false</strongs>; I <strongs number="5307">fall</strongs><strongs number="369">not</strongs>away <strongs number="5921">to</strongs>the <strongs number="3778">Chaldeans</strongs>. But he <strongs number="8085">hearkened</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>him: so <strongs number="3376">Irijah</strongs><strongs number="8610">took</strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>him <strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>Wherefore the <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>were <strongs number="7107">wroth</strongs><strongs number="5921">with</strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>, and <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs>him, and <strongs number="5414">put</strongs>him in <strongs number="1004 612">prison</strongs>in the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>the <strongs number="5608">scribe</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>they had <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>that the <strongs number="1004 3608">prison</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'><strongs number="3588">When</strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>was <strongs number="935">entered</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>the <strongs number="1004 953">dungeon</strongs>, and <strongs number="413">into</strongs>the <strongs number="2588">cabins</strongs>, and <strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>had <strongs number="3427">remained</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="7227">many</strongs><strongs number="3117">days</strongs>; </verse>
      <verse number='17'>Then <strongs number="6667">Zedekiah</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>, and <strongs number="3947">took</strongs>him out: and the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="7592">asked</strongs>him <strongs number="5643">secretly</strongs>in his <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, Is <strongs number="3426">there</strongs><em> any </em><strongs number="1697">word</strongs><strongs number="4480 854">from</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>? And <strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, There <strongs number="3426">is</strongs>: for, <strongs number="559">said</strongs>he, thou shalt be <strongs number="5414">delivered</strongs>into the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="894">Babylon</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Moreover <strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="6667">Zedekiah</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">What</strongs>have I <strongs number="2398">offended</strongs>against thee, or against thy <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>, or against <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">that</strongs>ye have <strongs number="5414">put</strongs>me <strongs number="413">in</strongs><strongs number="1004 3608">prison</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='19'><strongs number="346">Where</strongs><em> are </em>now your <strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="5012">prophesied</strongs>unto you, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, The <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="894">Babylon</strongs>shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>you, nor <strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="776">land</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='20'>Therefore <strongs number="8085">hear</strongs><strongs number="6258">now</strongs>, I pray <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>, O my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>: let my <strongs number="8467">supplication</strongs>, I pray <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>, be <strongs number="5307">accepted</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>thee; that thou cause me <strongs number="408">not</strongs>to <strongs number="7725">return</strongs>to the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>the <strongs number="5608">scribe</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">lest</strongs>I <strongs number="4191">die</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>Then <strongs number="6667">Zedekiah</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs>that they should <strongs number="6485">commit</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs>into the <strongs number="2691">court</strongs>of the <strongs number="4307">prison</strongs>, and that they should <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>him <strongs number="3117">daily</strongs>a <strongs number="3603">piece</strongs>of <strongs number="3899">bread</strongs>out of the <strongs number="644">bakers</strongs>' <strongs number="4480 2351">street</strongs>, <strongs number="5704">until</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="3899">bread</strongs><strongs number="4480">in</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>were <strongs number="8552">spent</strongs>. Thus <strongs number="3414">Jeremiah</strongs><strongs number="3427">remained</strongs>in the <strongs number="2691">court</strongs>of the <strongs number="4307">prison</strongs>. </verse>
