      <verse number='1'>And there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs>a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="6818">cry</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>and of their <strongs number="802">wives</strongs><strongs number="413">against</strongs>their <strongs number="251">brethren</strongs>the <strongs number="3064">Jews</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>For there <strongs number="3426">were</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="587">We</strongs>, our <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, and our <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>, <em> are </em><strongs number="7227">many</strongs>: therefore we take <strongs number="3947">up</strongs><strongs number="1715">corn</strongs><em> for </em><em> them </em>, that we may <strongs number="398">eat</strongs>, and <strongs number="2421">live</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'><em> Some </em>also there <strongs number="3426">were</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="587">We</strongs>have <strongs number="6148">mortgaged</strongs>our <strongs number="7704">lands</strongs>, <strongs number="3754">vineyards</strongs>, and <strongs number="1004">houses</strongs>, that we might <strongs number="3947">buy</strongs><strongs number="1715">corn</strongs>, because of the <strongs number="7458">dearth</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>There <strongs number="3426">were</strongs>also <strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, We have <strongs number="3867">borrowed</strongs><strongs number="3701">money</strongs>for the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="4060">tribute</strongs>, <em> and </em><em> that </em><em> upon </em>our <strongs number="7704">lands</strongs>and <strongs number="3754">vineyards</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>Yet <strongs number="6258">now</strongs>our <strongs number="1320">flesh</strongs><em> is </em>as the <strongs number="1320">flesh</strongs>of our <strongs number="251">brethren</strongs>, our <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>as their <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>: and, <strongs number="2009">lo</strongs>, <strongs number="587">we</strongs>bring into <strongs number="3533">bondage</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>our <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>and our <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>to be <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>, and <em> some </em>of our <strongs number="4480 1323">daughters</strongs><strongs number="3426">are</strongs>brought unto <strongs number="3533">bondage</strongs><em> already </em>: <strongs number="369">neither</strongs><em> is </em><em> it </em>in our <strongs number="410 3027">power</strongs><em> to </em><em> redeem </em><em> them </em>; for <strongs number="312">other</strongs>men have our <strongs number="7704">lands</strongs>and <strongs number="3754">vineyards</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And I was <strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="2734">angry</strongs><strongs number="834">when</strongs>I <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="2201">cry</strongs>and <strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="1697">words</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>Then I <strongs number="4427">consulted</strongs><strongs number="5921">with</strongs><strongs number="3820">myself</strongs>, and I <strongs number="7378">rebuked</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="2715">nobles</strongs>, and the <strongs number="5461">rulers</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto them, <strongs number="859">Ye</strongs><strongs number="5378">exact</strongs><strongs number="4855">usury</strongs>, every <strongs number="376">one</strongs>of his <strongs number="251">brother</strongs>. And I <strongs number="5414">set</strongs>a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="6952">assembly</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And I <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto them, <strongs number="587">We</strongs>after our <strongs number="1767">ability</strongs>have <strongs number="7069">redeemed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>our <strongs number="251">brethren</strongs>the <strongs number="3064">Jews</strongs>, which were <strongs number="4376">sold</strongs>unto the <strongs number="1471">heathen</strongs>; and will <strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="1571">even</strongs><strongs number="4376">sell</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>your <strongs number="251">brethren</strongs>? or shall they be <strongs number="4376">sold</strongs>unto us? Then held they their <strongs number="2790">peace</strongs>, and <strongs number="4672">found</strongs><strongs number="3808 1697">nothing</strongs><em> to </em><em> answer </em>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>Also I <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, It <em> is </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="2896 1697">good</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="6213">do</strongs>: ought ye <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>to <strongs number="1980">walk</strongs>in the <strongs number="3374">fear</strongs>of our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>because of the <strongs number="4480 2781">reproach</strongs>of the <strongs number="1471">heathen</strongs>our <strongs number="341">enemies</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='10'><strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="1571">likewise</strongs>, <em> and </em>my <strongs number="251">brethren</strongs>, and my <strongs number="5288">servants</strongs>, might <strongs number="5383">exact</strongs>of them <strongs number="3701">money</strongs>and <strongs number="1715">corn</strongs>: I <strongs number="4994">pray</strongs>you, let us leave <strongs number="5800">off</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="4855">usury</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'><strongs number="7725">Restore</strongs>, I <strongs number="4994">pray</strongs>you, to them, even this <strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, their <strongs number="7704">lands</strongs>, their <strongs number="3754">vineyards</strongs>, their <strongs number="2132">oliveyards</strongs>, and their <strongs number="1004">houses</strongs>, also the <strongs number="3967">hundredth</strongs><em> part </em>of the <strongs number="3701">money</strongs>, and of the <strongs number="1715">corn</strongs>, the <strongs number="8492">wine</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3323">oil</strongs>, <strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="5383">exact</strongs>of them. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>they, We will <strongs number="7725">restore</strongs><em> them </em>, and will <strongs number="1245">require</strongs><strongs number="3808">nothing</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>them; <strongs number="3651">so</strongs>will we <strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="834">as</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs><strongs number="559">sayest</strongs>. Then I <strongs number="7121">called</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>, and took an <strongs number="7650">oath</strongs>of them, that they should <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>according to <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1697">promise</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='14'><strongs number="1571">Moreover</strongs>from the <strongs number="4480 3117">time</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>I was <strongs number="6680">appointed</strongs>to <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>their <strongs number="6346">governor</strongs>in the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, from the <strongs number="6242">twentieth</strongs><strongs number="4480 8141">year</strongs>even <strongs number="5704">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="8147">two</strongs>and <strongs number="7970">thirtieth</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>of <strongs number="783">Artaxerxes</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, <em> that </em><em> is </em>, <strongs number="8147 6240">twelve</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>, <strongs number="589">I</strongs>and my <strongs number="251">brethren</strongs>have <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="398">eaten</strongs>the <strongs number="3899">bread</strongs>of the <strongs number="6346">governor</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>But the <strongs number="7223">former</strongs><strongs number="6346">governors</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> had </em><em> been </em><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>me were <strongs number="3513">chargeable</strongs><strongs number="5921">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, and had <strongs number="3947">taken</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>them <strongs number="3899">bread</strongs>and <strongs number="3196">wine</strongs>, <strongs number="310">beside</strongs><strongs number="705">forty</strongs><strongs number="8255">shekels</strongs>of <strongs number="3701">silver</strongs>; <strongs number="1571">yea</strongs>, even their <strongs number="5288">servants</strongs>bore <strongs number="7980">rule</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>: but <strongs number="3651">so</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="589">I</strongs>, <strongs number="4480 6440">because</strongs>of the <strongs number="3374">fear</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>Yea, <strongs number="1571">also</strongs>I <strongs number="2388">continued</strongs>in the <strongs number="4399">work</strongs>of <strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="2346">wall</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs><strongs number="7069">bought</strongs>we any <strongs number="7704">land</strongs>: and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>my <strongs number="5288">servants</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="6908">gathered</strongs><strongs number="8033">thither</strongs><strongs number="5921">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="4399">work</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>Moreover <em> there </em><em> were </em><strongs number="5921">at</strongs>my <strongs number="7979">table</strongs>a <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs>and <strongs number="2572 376">fifty</strongs>of the <strongs number="3064">Jews</strongs>and <strongs number="5461">rulers</strongs>, beside those that <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>us from <strongs number="4480">among</strongs>the <strongs number="1471">heathen</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> are </em><strongs number="5439">about</strongs>us. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Now <em> that </em><strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="6213">prepared</strongs><em> for </em><em> me </em><strongs number="3117 259">daily</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="259">one</strongs><strongs number="7794">ox</strongs><em> and </em><strongs number="8337">six</strongs><strongs number="1305">choice</strongs><strongs number="6629">sheep</strongs>; also <strongs number="6833">fowls</strongs>were <strongs number="6213">prepared</strongs>for me, and <strongs number="996">once</strongs>in <strongs number="6235">ten</strongs><strongs number="3117">days</strongs><strongs number="7235">store</strongs>of <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>sorts of <strongs number="3196">wine</strongs>: yet for <strongs number="5973">all</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1245">required</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>I the <strongs number="3899">bread</strongs>of the <strongs number="6346">governor</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>the <strongs number="5656">bondage</strongs>was <strongs number="3513">heavy</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'><strongs number="2142">Think</strongs>upon me, my <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, for <strongs number="2896">good</strongs>, <em> according </em>to <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>I have <strongs number="6213">done</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
