      <verse number='1'>The <strongs number="1697">words</strongs>of <strongs number="5166">Nehemiah</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="2446">Hachaliah</strongs>. And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>in the <strongs number="2320">month</strongs><strongs number="3691">Chisleu</strongs>, in the <strongs number="6242">twentieth</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>, as <strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs>in <strongs number="7800">Shushan</strongs>the <strongs number="1002">palace</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='2'>That <strongs number="2607">Hanani</strongs>, <strongs number="259">one</strongs>of my <strongs number="4480 251">brethren</strongs>, <strongs number="935">came</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">he</strongs>and <em> certain </em><strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="4480 3063">Judah</strongs>; and I <strongs number="7592">asked</strongs>them <strongs number="5921">concerning</strongs>the <strongs number="3064">Jews</strongs>that had <strongs number="6413">escaped</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>were <strongs number="7604">left</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="7628">captivity</strongs>, and <strongs number="5921">concerning</strongs><strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto me, The <strongs number="7604">remnant</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>are <strongs number="7604">left</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="7628">captivity</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>in the <strongs number="4082">province</strongs><em> are </em>in <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="7451">affliction</strongs>and <strongs number="2781">reproach</strongs>: the <strongs number="2346">wall</strongs>of <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>also <em> is </em>broken <strongs number="6555">down</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8179">gates</strongs>thereof are <strongs number="3341">burned</strongs>with <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, when I <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="1697">words</strongs>, that I sat <strongs number="3427">down</strongs>and <strongs number="1058">wept</strongs>, and <strongs number="56">mourned</strongs><em> certain </em><strongs number="3117">days</strongs>, and <strongs number="1961 6684">fasted</strongs>, and <strongs number="6419">prayed</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, I <strongs number="577">beseech</strongs>thee, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>, the <strongs number="1419">great</strongs>and <strongs number="3372">terrible</strongs><strongs number="410">God</strongs>, that <strongs number="8104">keepeth</strongs><strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>and <strongs number="2617">mercy</strongs>for them that <strongs number="157">love</strongs>him and <strongs number="8104">observe</strongs>his <strongs number="4687">commandments</strongs>: </verse>

      <verse number='7'>We have dealt very <strongs number="2254 2254">corruptly</strongs>against thee, and have <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="8104">kept</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4687">commandments</strongs>, nor the <strongs number="2706">statutes</strongs>, nor the <strongs number="4941">judgments</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>thou <strongs number="6680">commandedst</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>thy <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'><strongs number="2142">Remember</strongs>, I <strongs number="4994">beseech</strongs>thee, <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1697">word</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>thou <strongs number="6680">commandedst</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>thy <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <em> If </em><strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="4603">transgress</strongs>, <strongs number="589">I</strongs>will scatter you <strongs number="6327 *853">abroad</strongs>among the <strongs number="5971">nations</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='9'>But <em> if </em>ye <strongs number="7725">turn</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>me, and <strongs number="8104">keep</strongs>my <strongs number="4687">commandments</strongs>, and <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>them; <strongs number="518">though</strongs>there <strongs number="1961">were</strongs>of you cast <strongs number="5080">out</strongs>unto the uttermost <strongs number="7097">part</strongs>of the <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>, <em> yet </em>will I <strongs number="6908">gather</strongs>them from <strongs number="4480 8033">thence</strongs>, and will <strongs number="935">bring</strongs>them <strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="4725">place</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>I have <strongs number="977">chosen</strongs>to <strongs number="7931">set</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>my <strongs number="8034">name</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>. </verse>
