      <verse number='2'>And <strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>to <strongs number="8620">Tekoah</strongs>, and <strongs number="3947">fetched</strongs><strongs number="4480 8033">thence</strongs>a <strongs number="2450">wise</strongs><strongs number="802">woman</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>her, I pray <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>, feign thyself to be a <strongs number="56">mourner</strongs>, and put <strongs number="3847">on</strongs><strongs number="4994">now</strongs><strongs number="60">mourning</strongs><strongs number="899">apparel</strongs>, and <strongs number="5480">anoint</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs>thyself with <strongs number="8081">oil</strongs>, but <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>as a <strongs number="802">woman</strongs><strongs number="2088">that</strongs>had a <strongs number="7227">long</strongs><strongs number="3117">time</strongs><strongs number="56">mourned</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs>the <strongs number="4191">dead</strongs>: </verse>

      <verse number='4'>And when the <strongs number="802">woman</strongs>of <strongs number="8621">Tekoah</strongs><strongs number="559">spoke</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, she <strongs number="5307">fell</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>her <strongs number="639">face</strongs>to the <strongs number="776">ground</strongs>, and did <strongs number="7812">obeisance</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="3467">Help</strongs>, O <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto her, <strongs number="4100">What</strongs>aileth thee? And she <strongs number="559">answered</strongs>, <strongs number="589">I</strongs><em> am </em><strongs number="61">indeed</strongs>a <strongs number="490">widow</strongs><strongs number="802">woman</strongs>, and mine <strongs number="376">husband</strongs>is <strongs number="4191">dead</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='9'>And the <strongs number="802">woman</strongs>of <strongs number="8621">Tekoah</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, My <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>, O <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, the <strongs number="5771">iniquity</strongs><em> be </em><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>me, and <strongs number="5921">on</strongs>my <strongs number="1">father</strongs>'s <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>: and the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>and his <strongs number="3678">throne</strongs><em> be </em><strongs number="5355">guiltless</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='13'>And the <strongs number="802">woman</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">Wherefore</strongs>then hast thou <strongs number="2803">thought</strongs><strongs number="2063">such</strongs>a thing <strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>? for the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>doth <strongs number="4480 1696">speak</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1697">thing</strongs>as one which is <strongs number="818">faulty</strongs>, in that the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>doth <strongs number="1115">not</strongs>fetch home <strongs number="7725">again</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="5080">banished</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs>we must needs <strongs number="4191 4191">die</strongs>, and <em> are </em>as <strongs number="4325">water</strongs><strongs number="5064">spilt</strongs>on the <strongs number="776">ground</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="3808">cannot</strongs>be gathered <strongs number="622">up</strongs>again; <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>doth <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="5375">respect</strongs><em> any </em><strongs number="5315">person</strongs>: yet doth he <strongs number="2803">devise</strongs><strongs number="4284">means</strongs>, that his <strongs number="5080">banished</strongs>be not <strongs number="5080">expelled</strongs><strongs number="4480">from</strongs>him. </verse>

      <verse number='16'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>will <strongs number="8085">hear</strongs>, to <strongs number="5337">deliver</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="519">handmaid</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 3709">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="376">man</strongs><em> that </em><em> would </em><strongs number="8045">destroy</strongs>me and my <strongs number="1121">son</strongs><strongs number="3162">together</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 5159">inheritance</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>Then thine <strongs number="8198">handmaid</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, The <strongs number="1697">word</strongs>of my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>shall <strongs number="4994">now</strongs><strongs number="1961">be</strongs><strongs number="4496">comfortable</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>as an <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, <strongs number="3651">so</strongs><em> is </em>my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>to <strongs number="8085">discern</strongs><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>and <strongs number="7451">bad</strongs>: therefore the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>thy <strongs number="430">God</strongs>will <strongs number="1961">be</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Then the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>and <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="802">woman</strongs>, <strongs number="3582">Hide</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="4480">from</strongs>me, I pray <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>, the <strongs number="1697">thing</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="595">I</strongs>shall <strongs number="7592">ask</strongs>thee.       <verse number='23'>So <strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs><strongs number="6965">arose</strongs>and <strongs number="1980">went</strongs>to <strongs number="1650">Geshur</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="53">Absalom</strongs>to <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='24'>And the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, Let him <strongs number="5437">turn</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>his own <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>, and let him <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7200">see</strongs>my <strongs number="6440">face</strongs>. So <strongs number="53">Absalom</strongs><strongs number="5437">returned</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>his own <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>, and <strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="6440">face</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='25'>But in <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="3808 376">none</strongs>to be so <strongs number="3966">much</strongs><strongs number="1984">praised</strongs>as <strongs number="53">Absalom</strongs>for his <strongs number="3303">beauty</strongs>: from the <strongs number="4480 3709">sole</strongs>of his <strongs number="7272">foot</strongs>even <strongs number="5704">to</strongs>the crown of his <strongs number="6936">head</strongs>there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="3971">blemish</strongs>in him. </verse>
      <verse number='26'>And when he <strongs number="1548">polled</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>, (for it <strongs number="1961">was</strongs>at every year's <strongs number="4480 7093 3117 3117">end</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>he <strongs number="1548">polled</strongs><em> it </em>: <strongs number="3588">because</strongs><em> the </em><em> hair </em>was <strongs number="3513">heavy</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>him, therefore he <strongs number="1548">polled</strongs>it:) he <strongs number="8254">weighed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="8181">hair</strongs>of his <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>at two <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="8255">shekels</strongs>after the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="68">weight</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='29'>Therefore <strongs number="53">Absalom</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="413">for</strongs><strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs>, to have <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>him <strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>; but he <strongs number="14">would</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>him: and when he <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="5750">again</strongs>the second <strongs number="8145">time</strongs>, he <strongs number="14">would</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="935">come</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='30'>Therefore he <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>, <strongs number="7200">See</strongs>, <strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs>'s <strongs number="2513">field</strongs>is <strongs number="413">near</strongs><strongs number="3027">mine</strongs>, and he hath <strongs number="8184">barley</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>; <strongs number="1980">go</strongs>and <strongs number="3341">set</strongs>it on <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>.
