      <verse number='1'><strongs number="3588">When</strongs>thou goest <strongs number="3318">out</strongs>to <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>thine <strongs number="341">enemies</strongs>, and <strongs number="7200">seest</strongs><strongs number="5483">horses</strongs>, and <strongs number="7393">chariots</strongs>, <em> and </em>a <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="7227">more</strongs><strongs number="4480">than</strongs>thou, be not <strongs number="3372 3808">afraid</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>them: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>thy <strongs number="430">God</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>thee, which brought thee <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="4714">Egypt</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And it shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>, when ye are come <strongs number="7126">nigh</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>, that the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>shall <strongs number="5066">approach</strongs>and <strongs number="1696">speak</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, </verse>

      <verse number='9'>And it shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>, when the <strongs number="7860">officers</strongs>have made an <strongs number="3615">end</strongs>of <strongs number="1696">speaking</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, that they shall <strongs number="6485">make</strongs><strongs number="8269">captains</strongs>of the <strongs number="6635">armies</strongs>to <strongs number="7218">lead</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'><strongs number="3588">When</strongs>thou comest <strongs number="7126">nigh</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>a <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>to <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>it, then <strongs number="7121">proclaim</strongs><strongs number="7965">peace</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>it. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And it shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>, <strongs number="518">if</strongs>it make thee <strongs number="6030">answer</strongs>of <strongs number="7965">peace</strongs>, and <strongs number="6605">open</strongs>unto thee, then it shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>, <em> that </em><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><em> that </em><em> is </em><strongs number="4672">found</strongs>therein shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs><strongs number="4522">tributaries</strongs>unto thee, and they shall <strongs number="5647">serve</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>And <strongs number="518">if</strongs>it will make no <strongs number="7999 3808">peace</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>thee, but will <strongs number="6213">make</strongs><strongs number="4421">war</strongs><strongs number="5973">against</strongs>thee, then thou shalt <strongs number="6696 5921">besiege</strongs>it: </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And when the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>thy <strongs number="430">God</strongs>hath <strongs number="5414">delivered</strongs>it into thine <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs>, thou shalt <strongs number="5221">smite</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">every</strongs><strongs number="2138">male</strongs>thereof with the <strongs number="6310">edge</strongs>of the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='14'><strongs number="7535">But</strongs>the <strongs number="802">women</strongs>, and the little <strongs number="2945">ones</strongs>, and the <strongs number="929">cattle</strongs>, and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="1961">is</strongs>in the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, <em> even </em><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="7998">spoil</strongs>thereof, shalt thou <strongs number="962">take</strongs>unto thyself; and thou shalt <strongs number="398">eat</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="7998">spoil</strongs>of thine <strongs number="341">enemies</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>thy <strongs number="430">God</strongs>hath <strongs number="5414">given</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='15'><strongs number="3651">Thus</strongs>shalt thou <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>unto <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs><em> which </em><em> are </em><strongs number="3966">very</strongs>far <strongs number="7350">off</strongs><strongs number="4480">from</strongs>thee, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> are </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>of the <strongs number="4480 5892">cities</strongs>of <strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="1471">nations</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'><strongs number="7535">But</strongs>of the <strongs number="4480 5892">cities</strongs>of <strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>thy <strongs number="430">God</strongs>doth <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>thee <em> for </em>an <strongs number="5159">inheritance</strongs>, thou shalt save <strongs number="2421">alive</strongs><strongs number="3808 3605">nothing</strongs>that <strongs number="5397">breatheth</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='17'><strongs number="3588">But</strongs>thou shalt utterly <strongs number="2763 2763">destroy</strongs>them; <em> namely </em>, the <strongs number="2850">Hittites</strongs>, and the <strongs number="567">Amorites</strongs>, the <strongs number="3669">Canaanites</strongs>, and the <strongs number="6522">Perizzites</strongs>, the <strongs number="2340">Hivites</strongs>, and the <strongs number="2983">Jebusites</strongs>; <strongs number="834">as</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>thy <strongs number="430">God</strongs>hath <strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs>thee: </verse>
      <verse number='18'><strongs number="4616 834">That</strongs>they <strongs number="3925">teach</strongs>you <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>to <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>after <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>their <strongs number="8441">abominations</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>they have <strongs number="6213">done</strongs>unto their <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>; so should ye <strongs number="2398">sin</strongs>against the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>your <strongs number="430">God</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'><strongs number="3588">When</strongs>thou shalt <strongs number="6696 413">besiege</strongs>a <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>a <strongs number="7227">long</strongs><strongs number="3117">time</strongs>, in making <strongs number="3898">war</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>it to <strongs number="8610">take</strongs>it, thou shalt <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7843">destroy</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="6086">trees</strongs>thereof by <strongs number="5080">forcing</strongs>an <strongs number="1631">axe</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>them: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>thou mayest <strongs number="398">eat</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>them, and thou shalt <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>cut them <strongs number="3772 *853">down</strongs>( <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="6086">tree</strongs>of the <strongs number="7704">field</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="120">man</strongs>'s <em> life </em>) to <strongs number="935 4480 6440">employ</strongs><em> them </em>in the <strongs number="4692">siege</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='20'><strongs number="7535">Only</strongs>the <strongs number="6086">trees</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>thou <strongs number="3045">knowest</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="1931">they</strongs><em> be </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="6086">trees</strongs>for <strongs number="3978">meat</strongs>, thou shalt <strongs number="7843">destroy</strongs>and cut them <strongs number="3772">down</strongs>; and thou shalt <strongs number="1129">build</strongs><strongs number="4692">bulwarks</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs><strongs number="834 1931">that</strongs><strongs number="6213">maketh</strongs><strongs number="4421">war</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>thee, <strongs number="5704">until</strongs>it be <strongs number="3381">subdued</strongs>. </verse>
