      <verse number='1'>In the <strongs number="8147 6240">twelfth</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>of <strongs number="271">Ahaz</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>began <strongs number="1954">Hoshea</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="425">Elah</strongs>to <strongs number="4427">reign</strongs>in <strongs number="8111">Samaria</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="8672">nine</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And he <strongs number="6213">did</strongs><em> that </em><em> which </em><em> was </em><strongs number="7451">evil</strongs>in the <strongs number="5869">sight</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="7535">but</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>as the <strongs number="4428">kings</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="1961">were</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='3'><strongs number="5921">Against</strongs>him came <strongs number="5927">up</strongs><strongs number="8022">Shalmaneser</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs>; and <strongs number="1954">Hoshea</strongs><strongs number="1961">became</strongs>his <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs>, and <strongs number="7725">gave</strongs>him <strongs number="4503">presents</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs><strongs number="4672">found</strongs><strongs number="7195">conspiracy</strongs>in <strongs number="1954">Hoshea</strongs>: for he had <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="4397">messengers</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="5471">So</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="4714">Egypt</strongs>, and <strongs number="5927">brought</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="4503">present</strongs>to the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs>, as <em> he </em><em> had </em><em> done </em><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>by <strongs number="8141">year</strongs>: therefore the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs>shut him <strongs number="6113">up</strongs>, and <strongs number="631">bound</strongs>him in <strongs number="1004 3608">prison</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>Then the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs>came <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>throughout <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>, and went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>to <strongs number="8111">Samaria</strongs>, and <strongs number="6696 5921">besieged</strongs>it <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>In the <strongs number="8671">ninth</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>of <strongs number="1954">Hoshea</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs><strongs number="3920">took</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="8111">Samaria</strongs>, and carried Israel <strongs number="1540 *853 3478">away</strongs>into <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs>, and <strongs number="3427">placed</strongs>them in <strongs number="2477">Halah</strongs>and in <strongs number="2249">Habor</strongs><em> by </em>the <strongs number="5104">river</strongs>of <strongs number="1470">Gozan</strongs>, and in the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>of the <strongs number="4074">Medes</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>For <em> so </em>it <strongs number="1961">was</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">that</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>had <strongs number="2398">sinned</strongs>against the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>their <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, which had brought them <strongs number="5927 *853">up</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="4714">Egypt</strongs>, from <strongs number="4480 8478">under</strongs>the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of <strongs number="6547">Pharaoh</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="4714">Egypt</strongs>, and had <strongs number="3372">feared</strongs><strongs number="312">other</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And <strongs number="1980">walked</strongs>in the <strongs number="2708">statutes</strongs>of the <strongs number="1471">heathen</strongs>, <strongs number="834">whom</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>cast <strongs number="3423">out</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and of the <strongs number="4428">kings</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>they had <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>did <strongs number="2644">secretly</strongs><em> those </em><strongs number="1697">things</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3651">right</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>their <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and they <strongs number="1129">built</strongs>them high <strongs number="1116">places</strongs>in <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>their <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>, from the <strongs number="4480 4026">tower</strongs>of the <strongs number="5341">watchmen</strongs><strongs number="5704">to</strongs>the <strongs number="4013">fenced</strongs><strongs number="5892">city</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And they set them <strongs number="5324">up</strongs><strongs number="4676">images</strongs>and <strongs number="842">groves</strongs><strongs number="5921">in</strongs><strongs number="3605">every</strongs><strongs number="1364">high</strongs><strongs number="1389">hill</strongs>, and <strongs number="8478">under</strongs><strongs number="3605">every</strongs><strongs number="7488">green</strongs><strongs number="6086">tree</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And <strongs number="8033">there</strongs>they burnt <strongs number="6999">incense</strongs>in <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the high <strongs number="1116">places</strongs>, as <em> did </em>the <strongs number="1471">heathen</strongs><strongs number="834">whom</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>carried <strongs number="1540">away</strongs><strongs number="4480 6440">before</strongs>them; and <strongs number="6213">wrought</strongs><strongs number="7451">wicked</strongs><strongs number="1697">things</strongs>to <strongs number="3707">provoke</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>to anger: </verse>
      <verse number='12'>For they <strongs number="5647">served</strongs><strongs number="1544">idols</strongs>, <strongs number="834">whereof</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>had <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto them, Ye shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1697">thing</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>Yet the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5749">testified</strongs>against <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and against <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, <strongs number="3027">by</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs>, <em> and </em><em> by </em><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="2374">seers</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="7725">Turn</strongs>ye from your evil <strongs number="4480 1870 7451">ways</strongs>, and <strongs number="8104">keep</strongs>my <strongs number="4687">commandments</strongs><em> and </em>my <strongs number="2708">statutes</strongs>, according to <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="8451">law</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>I <strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>your <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>, and <strongs number="834">which</strongs>I <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>you <strongs number="3027">by</strongs>my <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Notwithstanding they would <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="8085">hear</strongs>, but <strongs number="7185">hardened</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="6203">necks</strongs>, like to the <strongs number="6203">neck</strongs>of their <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>, <strongs number="834">that</strongs>did <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="539">believe</strongs>in the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>their <strongs number="430">God</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And they <strongs number="3988">rejected</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="2706">statutes</strongs>, and his <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>he <strongs number="3772">made</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>their <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>, and his <strongs number="5715">testimonies</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>he <strongs number="5749">testified</strongs>against them; and they <strongs number="1980 310">followed</strongs><strongs number="1892">vanity</strongs>, and became <strongs number="1891">vain</strongs>, and went <strongs number="310">after</strongs>the <strongs number="1471">heathen</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> were </em>round <strongs number="5439">about</strongs>them, <em> concerning </em><strongs number="834">whom</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>had <strongs number="6680">charged</strongs>them, that they should <strongs number="1115">not</strongs><strongs number="6213">do</strongs>like them. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And they <strongs number="5800">left</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="4687">commandments</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>their <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>them molten <strongs number="4541">images</strongs>, <em> even </em><strongs number="8147">two</strongs><strongs number="5695">calves</strongs>, and <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>a <strongs number="842">grove</strongs>, and <strongs number="7812">worshiped</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="6635">host</strongs>of <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>, and <strongs number="5647">served</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1168">Baal</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>And they caused <strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>and their <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>to pass <strongs number="5674">through</strongs>the <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>, and <strongs number="7080">used</strongs><strongs number="7081">divination</strongs>and <strongs number="5172">enchantments</strongs>, and sold <strongs number="4376">themselves</strongs>to <strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="7451">evil</strongs>in the <strongs number="5869">sight</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, to provoke him to <strongs number="3707">anger</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Therefore the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>was very <strongs number="599 3966">angry</strongs>with <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and <strongs number="5493">removed</strongs>them out <strongs number="4480 5921">of</strongs>his <strongs number="6440">sight</strongs>: there was <strongs number="3808">none</strongs><strongs number="7604">left</strongs><strongs number="7535">but</strongs>the <strongs number="7626">tribe</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="905">only</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'><strongs number="1571">Also</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="8104">kept</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4687">commandments</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>their <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, but <strongs number="1980">walked</strongs>in the <strongs number="2708">statutes</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>they <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='20'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="3988">rejected</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="2233">seed</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and <strongs number="6031">afflicted</strongs>them, and <strongs number="5414">delivered</strongs>them into the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of <strongs number="8154">spoilers</strongs>, <strongs number="5704 834">until</strongs>he had cast them <strongs number="7993">out</strongs>of his <strongs number="4480 6440">sight</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='21'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs>he <strongs number="7167">rent</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">from</strongs>the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>; and they made <strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="5028">Nebat</strongs><strongs number="4427">king</strongs>: and <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs><strongs number="5080">drove</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 310">following</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and made them <strongs number="2398">sin</strongs>a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="2401">sin</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>For the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="1980">walked</strongs>in <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="2403">sins</strongs>of <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>he <strongs number="6213">did</strongs>; they <strongs number="5493">departed</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="4480">from</strongs>them; </verse>
      <verse number='23'><strongs number="5704 834">Until</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5493">removed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>out <strongs number="4480 5921">of</strongs>his <strongs number="6440">sight</strongs>, <strongs number="834">as</strongs>he had <strongs number="1696">said</strongs><strongs number="3027">by</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs>. So was <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>carried <strongs number="1540">away</strongs>out <strongs number="4480 5921">of</strongs>their own <strongs number="127">land</strongs>to <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='24'>And the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs><strongs number="935">brought</strongs><em> men </em>from <strongs number="4480 894">Babylon</strongs>, and from <strongs number="4480 3575">Cuthah</strongs>, and from <strongs number="4480 5755">Ava</strongs>, and from <strongs number="4480 2574">Hamath</strongs>, and from <strongs number="5617">Sepharvaim</strongs>, and <strongs number="3427">placed</strongs><em> them </em>in the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>of <strongs number="8111">Samaria</strongs><strongs number="8478">instead</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: and they <strongs number="3423">possessed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="8111">Samaria</strongs>, and <strongs number="3427">dwelt</strongs>in the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>thereof. </verse>
      <verse number='25'>And <em> so </em>it <strongs number="1961">was</strongs>at the <strongs number="8462">beginning</strongs>of their <strongs number="3427">dwelling</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>, <em> that </em>they <strongs number="3372">feared</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>: therefore the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="738">lions</strongs>among them, which <strongs number="2026">slew</strongs><em> some </em>of them. </verse>
      <verse number='26'>Wherefore they <strongs number="559">spoke</strongs>to the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, The <strongs number="1471">nations</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>thou hast <strongs number="1540">removed</strongs>, and <strongs number="3427">placed</strongs>in the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>of <strongs number="8111">Samaria</strongs>, <strongs number="3045">know</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4941">manner</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>: therefore he hath <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="738">lions</strongs>among them, and, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, they <strongs number="4191">slay</strongs>them, <strongs number="834">because</strongs>they <strongs number="3045">know</strongs><strongs number="369">not</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4941">manner</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='27'>Then the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="804">Assyria</strongs><strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="1980">Carry</strongs><strongs number="8033">thither</strongs><strongs number="259">one</strongs>of the <strongs number="4480 3548">priests</strongs><strongs number="834">whom</strongs>ye <strongs number="1540">brought</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 8033">thence</strongs>; and let them <strongs number="1980">go</strongs>and <strongs number="3427">dwell</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>, and let him <strongs number="3384">teach</strongs>them <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4941">manner</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='28'>Then <strongs number="259">one</strongs>of the <strongs number="4480 3548">priests</strongs><strongs number="834">whom</strongs>they had carried <strongs number="1540">away</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 8111">Samaria</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs>and <strongs number="3427">dwelt</strongs>in <strongs number="1008">Bethel</strongs>, and <strongs number="3384">taught</strongs>them <strongs number="349">how</strongs>they should <strongs number="3372">fear</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='29'>Howbeit every <strongs number="1471 1471">nation</strongs><strongs number="6213">made</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of their own, and <strongs number="5117">put</strongs><em> them </em>in the <strongs number="1004">houses</strongs>of the high <strongs number="1116">places</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>the <strongs number="8118">Samaritans</strongs>had <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>, every <strongs number="1471 1471">nation</strongs>in their <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs><strongs number="834 8033">wherein</strongs><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="3427">dwelt</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='31'>And the <strongs number="5761">Avites</strongs><strongs number="6213">made</strongs><strongs number="5026">Nibhaz</strongs>and <strongs number="8662">Tartak</strongs>, and the <strongs number="5617">Sepharvites</strongs><strongs number="8313">burnt</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>in <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>to <strongs number="152">Adrammelech</strongs>and <strongs number="6048">Anammelech</strongs>, the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of <strongs number="5617">Sepharvaim</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='32'>So they <strongs number="1961 3372">feared</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>unto themselves of the <strongs number="4480 7098">lowest</strongs>of them <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>of the high <strongs number="1116">places</strongs>, which <strongs number="6213">sacrificed</strongs>for them in the <strongs number="1004">houses</strongs>of the high <strongs number="1116">places</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='36'><strongs number="3588 518">But</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="834">who</strongs>brought you <strongs number="5927 *853">up</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="4714">Egypt</strongs>with <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="3581">power</strongs>and a stretched <strongs number="5186">out</strongs><strongs number="2220">arm</strongs>, him shall ye <strongs number="3372">fear</strongs>, and him shall ye <strongs number="7812">worship</strongs>, and to him shall ye do <strongs number="2076">sacrifice</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='37'>And the <strongs number="2706">statutes</strongs>, and the <strongs number="4941">ordinances</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8451">law</strongs>, and the <strongs number="4687">commandment</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>he <strongs number="3789">wrote</strongs>for you, ye shall <strongs number="8104">observe</strongs>to <strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="3605 3117">forevermore</strongs>; and ye shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3372">fear</strongs><strongs number="312">other</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='38'>And the <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>I have <strongs number="3772">made</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>you ye shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7911">forget</strongs>; <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>shall ye <strongs number="3372">fear</strongs><strongs number="312">other</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='39'><strongs number="3588 518">But</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>your <strongs number="430">God</strongs>ye shall <strongs number="3372">fear</strongs>; and <strongs number="1931">he</strongs>shall <strongs number="5337">deliver</strongs>you out of the <strongs number="4480 3027">hand</strongs>of <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>your <strongs number="341">enemies</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='40'>Howbeit they did <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="8085">hearken</strongs>, <strongs number="3588 518">but</strongs><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs>after their <strongs number="7223">former</strongs><strongs number="4941">manner</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='41'>So <strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="1471">nations</strongs><strongs number="1961 3372">feared</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="5647">served</strongs>their graven <strongs number="6456">images</strongs>, <strongs number="1571">both</strongs>their <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>, and their <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>'s <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>: <strongs number="834">as</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs>their <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>, so <strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
