      <verse number='1'>Now when these <strongs number="428">things</strongs>were <strongs number="3615">done</strongs>, the <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs><strongs number="5066">came</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>me, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, The <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3881">Levites</strongs>, have <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>separated <strongs number="914">themselves</strongs>from the <strongs number="4480 5971">people</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">lands</strongs>, <em> doing </em>according to their <strongs number="8441">abominations</strongs>, <em> even </em>of the <strongs number="3669">Canaanites</strongs>, the <strongs number="2850">Hittites</strongs>, the <strongs number="6522">Perizzites</strongs>, the <strongs number="2983">Jebusites</strongs>, the <strongs number="5984">Ammonites</strongs>, the <strongs number="4125">Moabites</strongs>, the <strongs number="4713">Egyptians</strongs>, and the <strongs number="567">Amorites</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs>they have <strongs number="5375">taken</strongs>of their <strongs number="4480 1323">daughters</strongs>for themselves, and for their <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>: so that the <strongs number="6944">holy</strongs><strongs number="2233">seed</strongs>have mingled <strongs number="6148">themselves</strongs>with the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>of <em> those </em><strongs number="776">lands</strongs>: yea, the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>and <strongs number="5461">rulers</strongs>hath <strongs number="1961">been</strongs><strongs number="7223">chief</strongs>in <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="4604">trespass</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And when I <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1697">thing</strongs>, I <strongs number="7167">rent</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>my <strongs number="899">garment</strongs>and my <strongs number="4598">mantle</strongs>, and plucked <strongs number="4803">off</strongs>the <strongs number="4480 8181">hair</strongs>of my <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>and of my <strongs number="2206">beard</strongs>, and sat <strongs number="3427">down</strongs><strongs number="8074">astonished</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Then were <strongs number="622">assembled</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>me every <strongs number="3605">one</strongs>that <strongs number="2730">trembled</strongs>at the <strongs number="1697">words</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="5921">because</strongs>of the <strongs number="4604">transgression</strongs>of those that had been carried <strongs number="1473">away</strongs>; and <strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="3427">sat</strongs><strongs number="8074">astonished</strongs><strongs number="5704">until</strongs>the <strongs number="6153">evening</strongs><strongs number="4503">sacrifice</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And at the <strongs number="6153">evening</strongs><strongs number="4503">sacrifice</strongs>I arose <strongs number="6965">up</strongs>from my <strongs number="4480 8589">heaviness</strongs>; and having <strongs number="7167">rent</strongs>my <strongs number="899">garment</strongs>and my <strongs number="4598">mantle</strongs>, I <strongs number="3766">fell</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>my <strongs number="1290">knees</strongs>, and spread <strongs number="6566">out</strongs>my <strongs number="3709">hands</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>my <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, O my <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, I am <strongs number="954">ashamed</strongs>and <strongs number="3637">blush</strongs>to lift <strongs number="7311">up</strongs>my <strongs number="6440">face</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>thee, my <strongs number="430">God</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>our <strongs number="5771">iniquities</strongs>are <strongs number="7235">increased</strongs><strongs number="4605">over</strongs><em> our </em><strongs number="7218">head</strongs>, and our <strongs number="819">trespass</strongs>is grown <strongs number="1431">up</strongs><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="8064">heavens</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>Since the <strongs number="4480 3117">days</strongs>of our <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs><em> have </em><strongs number="587">we</strongs><em> been </em>in a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="819">trespass</strongs><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>; and for our <strongs number="5771">iniquities</strongs>have <strongs number="587">we</strongs>, our <strongs number="4428">kings</strongs>, <em> and </em>our <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>, been <strongs number="5414">delivered</strongs>into the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">kings</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">lands</strongs>, to the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>, to <strongs number="7628">captivity</strongs>, and to a <strongs number="961">spoil</strongs>, and to <strongs number="1322">confusion</strongs>of <strongs number="6440">face</strongs>, as <em> it </em><em> is </em><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And <strongs number="6258">now</strongs>for a <strongs number="4592">little</strongs><strongs number="7281">space</strongs><strongs number="8467">grace</strongs>hath <strongs number="1961">been</strongs><em> showed </em><strongs number="4480 854">from</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, to <strongs number="7604">leave</strongs>us a remnant to <strongs number="6413">escape</strongs>, and to <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>us a <strongs number="3489">nail</strongs>in his <strongs number="6944">holy</strongs><strongs number="4725">place</strongs>, that our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>may <strongs number="215">lighten</strongs>our <strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>, and <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>us a <strongs number="4592">little</strongs><strongs number="4241">reviving</strongs>in our <strongs number="5659">bondage</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs><strongs number="587">we</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="5650">bondmen</strongs>; yet our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>hath <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5800">forsaken</strongs>us in our <strongs number="5659">bondage</strongs>, but hath <strongs number="5186">extended</strongs><strongs number="2617">mercy</strongs><strongs number="5921">unto</strongs>us in the <strongs number="6440">sight</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">kings</strongs>of <strongs number="6539">Persia</strongs>, to <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>us a <strongs number="4241">reviving</strongs>, to set <strongs number="7311">up</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and to <strongs number="5975">repair</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="2723">desolations</strongs>thereof, and to <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>us a <strongs number="1447">wall</strongs>in <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>and in <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And <strongs number="6258">now</strongs>, O our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">what</strongs>shall we <strongs number="559">say</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs>? <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>we have <strongs number="5800">forsaken</strongs>thy <strongs number="4687">commandments</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='11'><strongs number="834">Which</strongs>thou hast <strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs><strongs number="3027">by</strongs>thy <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>the <strongs number="5030">prophets</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, The <strongs number="776">land</strongs>, unto <strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="935">go</strongs>to <strongs number="3423">possess</strongs>it, is an <strongs number="5079">unclean</strongs><strongs number="776">land</strongs>with the <strongs number="5079">filthiness</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">lands</strongs>, with their <strongs number="8441">abominations</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>have <strongs number="4390">filled</strongs>it from one <strongs number="4480 6310">end</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="6310">another</strongs>with their <strongs number="2932">uncleanness</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'><strongs number="6258">Now</strongs>therefore <strongs number="5414">give</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs>your <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>unto their <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, <strongs number="408">neither</strongs><strongs number="5375">take</strongs>their <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>unto your <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">nor</strongs><strongs number="1875">seek</strongs>their <strongs number="7965">peace</strongs>or their <strongs number="2896">wealth</strongs><strongs number="5704 5769">forever</strongs>: <strongs number="4616">that</strongs>ye may be <strongs number="2388">strong</strongs>, and <strongs number="398">eat</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="2898">good</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>, and leave <em> it </em>for an <strongs number="3423">inheritance</strongs>to your <strongs number="1121">children</strongs><strongs number="5704 5769">forever</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And <strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>that is <strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>us for our <strongs number="7451">evil</strongs><strongs number="4639">deeds</strongs>, and for our <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="819">trespass</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">seeing</strongs>that <strongs number="859">thou</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>hast <strongs number="2820">punished</strongs>us <strongs number="4295">less</strongs>than our <strongs number="4480 5771">iniquities</strongs><em> deserve </em>, and hast <strongs number="5414">given</strongs>us <em> such </em><strongs number="6413">deliverance</strongs>as <strongs number="2063">this</strongs>; </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Should we <strongs number="7725">again</strongs><strongs number="6565">break</strongs>thy <strongs number="4687">commandments</strongs>, and join in <strongs number="2859">affinity</strongs>with the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>of <strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="8441">abominations</strongs>? wouldest <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>thou be <strongs number="599">angry</strongs>with us <strongs number="5704">till</strongs>thou hadst <strongs number="3615">consumed</strongs><em> us </em>, so that <em> there </em><em> should </em><em> be </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="7611">remnant</strongs>nor <strongs number="6413">escaping</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='15'>O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="859">thou</strongs><em> art </em><strongs number="6662">righteous</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>we <strongs number="7604">remain</strongs>yet <strongs number="6413">escaped</strongs>, as <em> it </em><em> is </em><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>: <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, we <em> are </em><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>thee in our <strongs number="819">trespasses</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>we <strongs number="369">cannot</strongs><strongs number="5975">stand</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>thee <strongs number="5921">because</strongs>of <strongs number="2088">this</strongs>. </verse>
