And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="3045">knew</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>was <strongs number="1980">gone</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='5'>The <strongs number="8127">forefront</strongs>of the <strongs number="259">one</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="4690">situated</strongs><strongs number="4480 6828">northward</strongs>over <strongs number="4136">against</strongs><strongs number="4363">Michmash</strongs>, and the <strongs number="259">other</strongs><strongs number="4480 5045">southward</strongs>over <strongs number="4136">against</strongs><strongs number="1387">Gibeah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the young <strongs number="5288">man</strongs>that <strongs number="5375">bore</strongs>his <strongs number="3627">armor</strongs>, <strongs number="1980">Come</strongs>, and let us go <strongs number="5674">over</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="4673">garrison</strongs>of <strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="6189">uncircumcised</strongs>: it may be <strongs number="194">that</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>will <strongs number="6213">work</strongs>for us: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><em> there </em><em> is </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="4622">restraint</strongs>to the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>to <strongs number="3467">save</strongs>by <strongs number="7227">many</strongs><strongs number="176">or</strongs>by <strongs number="4592">few</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='8'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">Behold</strongs>, <strongs number="587">we</strongs>will pass <strongs number="5674">over</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><em> these </em><strongs number="376">men</strongs>, and we will discover <strongs number="1540">ourselves</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>them. </verse>

      <verse number='14'>And that <strongs number="7223">first</strongs><strongs number="4347">slaughter</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>and his <strongs number="3627 5375">armorbearer</strongs><strongs number="5221">made</strongs>, <strongs number="1961">was</strongs>about <strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>, within as it were a <strongs number="2677">half</strongs><strongs number="4618">acre</strongs>of <strongs number="7704">land</strongs>, <em> which </em>a <strongs number="6776">yoke</strongs><em> of </em><em> oxen </em><em> might </em><em> plow </em>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="2731">trembling</strongs>in the <strongs number="4264">host</strongs>, in the <strongs number="7704">field</strongs>, and among <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>: the <strongs number="4673">garrison</strongs>, and the <strongs number="7843">spoilers</strongs>, <strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs><strongs number="2729">trembled</strongs>, and the <strongs number="776">earth</strongs><strongs number="7264">quaked</strongs>: so it <strongs number="1961">was</strongs>a very <strongs number="430">great</strongs><strongs number="2731">trembling</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And the <strongs number="6822">watchmen</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>in <strongs number="1390">Gibeah</strongs>of <strongs number="1144">Benjamin</strongs><strongs number="7200">looked</strongs>; and, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, the <strongs number="1995">multitude</strongs>melted <strongs number="4127">away</strongs>, and they <strongs number="1980">went</strongs>on beating <strongs number="1986">down</strongs><em> one </em><em> another </em>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>unto the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="854">with</strongs>him, <strongs number="6485">Number</strongs><strongs number="4994">now</strongs>, and <strongs number="7200">see</strongs><strongs number="4310">who</strongs>is <strongs number="1980">gone</strongs><strongs number="4480 5973">from</strongs>us.       <verse number='18'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto <strongs number="281">Ahiah</strongs>, Bring <strongs number="5066">hither</strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>. <strongs number="3588">For</strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs>at <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">time</strongs>with the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, <strongs number="5704">while</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="1696">talked</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>, that the <strongs number="1995">noise</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> was </em>in the <strongs number="4264">host</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>went <strongs number="1980">on</strongs>and <strongs number="1980 7227">increased</strongs>: and <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>, <strongs number="622">Withdraw</strongs>thine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='20'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="854">with</strongs>him assembled <strongs number="2199">themselves</strongs>, and they <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="5704">to</strongs>the <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>: and, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, every <strongs number="376">man</strongs>'s <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs>against his <strongs number="7453">fellow</strongs>, <em> and </em><em> there </em><em> was </em>a <strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="4103">discomfiture</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='22'>Likewise <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>which had hid <strongs number="2244">themselves</strongs>in <strongs number="2022">mount</strongs><strongs number="669">Ephraim</strongs>, <em> when </em>they <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>, even <strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>followed <strongs number="1692">hard</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>them in the <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='23'>So the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="3467">saved</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>: and the <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>passed <strongs number="5674">over</strongs>unto <strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1007">Beth</strongs>-aven. </verse>
      <verse number='24'>And the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>were <strongs number="5065">distressed</strongs><strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>: for <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>had <strongs number="422">adjured</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="779">Cursed</strongs><em> be </em>the <strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="398">eateth</strongs><em> any </em><strongs number="3899">food</strongs><strongs number="5704">until</strongs><strongs number="6153">evening</strongs>, that I may be <strongs number="5358">avenged</strongs>on mine <strongs number="4480 341">enemies</strongs>.       <verse number='36'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, Let us go <strongs number="3381">down</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>by <strongs number="3915">night</strongs>, and <strongs number="962">spoil</strongs>them <strongs number="5704">until</strongs>the <strongs number="1242">morning</strongs><strongs number="216">light</strongs>, and let us <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7604">leave</strongs>a <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of them. And they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="6213">Do</strongs><strongs number="3605">whatsoever</strongs><strongs number="5869">seemeth</strongs><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>unto thee. Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>, Let us draw <strongs number="7126">near</strongs><strongs number="1988">hither</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='37'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>asked <strongs number="7592">counsel</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, Shall I go <strongs number="3381">down</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>? wilt thou <strongs number="5414">deliver</strongs>them into the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>? But he <strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>him <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='38'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, Draw ye <strongs number="5066">near</strongs><strongs number="1988">hither</strongs>, <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="6438">chief</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>: and <strongs number="3045">know</strongs>and <strongs number="7200">see</strongs><strongs number="4100">wherein</strongs>this <strongs number="2403">sin</strongs>hath <strongs number="1961">been</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='39'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs>, <em> as </em>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="2416">liveth</strongs>, which <strongs number="3467">saveth</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="3588 518">though</strongs>it <strongs number="3426">be</strongs>in <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>my <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>, he shall surely <strongs number="4191 4191">die</strongs>. But <em> there </em><em> was </em>not a <strongs number="369">man</strongs>among <strongs number="4480 3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><em> that </em><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='40'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>he <strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="1961">Be</strongs><strongs number="859">ye</strongs>on <strongs number="259">one</strongs><strongs number="5676">side</strongs>, and <strongs number="589">I</strongs>and <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>my <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>will <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>on the <strongs number="259">other</strongs><strongs number="5676">side</strongs>. And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, <strongs number="6213">Do</strongs>what <strongs number="5869">seemeth</strongs><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>unto thee. </verse>
      <verse number='41'>Therefore <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="3051">Give</strongs>a <strongs number="8549">perfect</strongs><em> lot </em>. And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>and <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>were <strongs number="3920">taken</strongs>: but the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="3318">escaped</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='42'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="5307">Cast</strongs><em> lots </em><strongs number="996">between</strongs>me and <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>my <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>. And <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>was <strongs number="3920">taken</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='43'>Then <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>, <strongs number="5046">Tell</strongs>me <strongs number="4100">what</strongs>thou hast <strongs number="6213">done</strongs>. And <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs><strongs number="5046">told</strongs>him, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, I did but <strongs number="2938 2938">taste</strongs>a <strongs number="4592">little</strongs><strongs number="1706">honey</strongs>with the <strongs number="7097">end</strongs>of the <strongs number="4294">rod</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> was </em>in mine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>, <em> and </em>, <strongs number="2009">lo</strongs>, I must <strongs number="4191">die</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='44'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">answered</strongs>, <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="3541">so</strongs>and <strongs number="3254">more</strongs><strongs number="3541">also</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>thou shalt surely <strongs number="4191 4191">die</strongs>, <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='45'>And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, Shall <strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs><strongs number="4191">die</strongs>, <strongs number="834">who</strongs>hath <strongs number="6213">wrought</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="3444">salvation</strongs>in <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>? God <strongs number="2486">forbid</strongs>: <em> as </em>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="2416">liveth</strongs>, there shall <strongs number="518">not</strongs>one <strongs number="4480 8185">hair</strongs>of his <strongs number="7218">head</strongs><strongs number="5307">fall</strongs>to the <strongs number="776">ground</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>he hath <strongs number="6213">wrought</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. So the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="6299">rescued</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>, that he <strongs number="4191">died</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='46'>Then <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 310">following</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>: and the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="1980">went</strongs>to their own <strongs number="4725">place</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='47'>So <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="3920">took</strongs>the <strongs number="4410">kingdom</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and <strongs number="3898">fought</strongs>against <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>his <strongs number="341">enemies</strongs>on every <strongs number="5439">side</strongs>, against <strongs number="4124">Moab</strongs>, and against the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="5983">Ammon</strongs>, and against <strongs number="123">Edom</strongs>, and against the <strongs number="4428">kings</strongs>of <strongs number="6678">Zobah</strongs>, and against the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>: and <strongs number="3605 834">whithersoever</strongs>he <strongs number="6437">turned</strongs>himself, he <strongs number="7561">vexed</strongs><em> them </em>. </verse>
      <verse number='48'>And he <strongs number="6213">gathered</strongs>a <strongs number="2428">host</strongs>, and <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="6002">Amalekites</strongs>, and <strongs number="5337">delivered</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 3027">hands</strongs>of them that <strongs number="8154">spoiled</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='49'>Now the <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="1961">were</strongs><strongs number="3083">Jonathan</strongs>, and <strongs number="3440">Ishui</strongs>, and <strongs number="4444">Melchi</strongs>-shua: and the <strongs number="8034">names</strongs>of his <strongs number="8147">two</strongs><strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs><em> were </em><em> these </em>; the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="1067">firstborn</strongs><strongs number="4764">Merab</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="6996">younger</strongs><strongs number="4324">Michal</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='50'>And the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>'s <strongs number="802">wife</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="293">Ahinoam</strongs>, the <strongs number="1323">daughter</strongs>of <strongs number="290">Ahimaaz</strongs>: and the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="8269">captain</strongs>of his <strongs number="6635">host</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="74">Abner</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="5369">Ner</strongs>, <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>'s <strongs number="1730">uncle</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='51'>And <strongs number="7027">Kish</strongs><em> was </em>the <strongs number="1">father</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>; and <strongs number="5369">Ner</strongs>the <strongs number="1">father</strongs>of <strongs number="74">Abner</strongs><em> was </em>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="22">Abiel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='52'>And there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="2389">sore</strongs><strongs number="4421">war</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="3117">days</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>: and when <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="3605">any</strongs><strongs number="1368">strong</strongs><strongs number="376">man</strongs>, or <strongs number="3605">any</strongs><strongs number="2428">valiant</strongs><strongs number="1121">man</strongs>, he <strongs number="622">took</strongs>him <strongs number="413">unto</strongs>him. </verse>
