      <verse number='1'>And the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="3947">took</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>it from <strongs number="4480 72">Ebenezer</strongs>unto <strongs number="795">Ashdod</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>When the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="3947">took</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, they <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>it into the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>, and <strongs number="3322">set</strongs>it <strongs number="681">by</strongs><strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And when they of <strongs number="795">Ashdod</strongs>arose <strongs number="7925">early</strongs>on the <strongs number="4480 4283">morrow</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, <strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="5307">fallen</strongs>upon his <strongs number="6440">face</strongs>to the <strongs number="776">earth</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. And they <strongs number="3947">took</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>, and <strongs number="7725">set</strongs>him in his <strongs number="4725">place</strongs>again. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And when they arose <strongs number="7925">early</strongs>on the <strongs number="4480 4283">morrow</strongs><strongs number="1242">morning</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, <strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="5307">fallen</strongs>upon his <strongs number="6440">face</strongs>to the <strongs number="776">ground</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>; and the <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>of <strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>and <strongs number="8147">both</strongs>the <strongs number="3709">palms</strongs>of his <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs><em> were </em>cut <strongs number="3772">off</strongs><strongs number="413">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="4670">threshold</strongs>; <strongs number="7535">only</strongs><em> the </em><em> stump </em><em> of </em><strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>was <strongs number="7604">left</strongs><strongs number="5921">to</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='5'><strongs number="5921 3651">Therefore</strongs><strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>of <strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>, nor <strongs number="3605">any</strongs>that <strongs number="935">come</strongs>into <strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>'s <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>, <strongs number="1869">tread</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>the <strongs number="4670">threshold</strongs>of <strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>in <strongs number="795">Ashdod</strongs><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>But the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>was <strongs number="3513">heavy</strongs><strongs number="413">upon</strongs>them of <strongs number="795">Ashdod</strongs>, and he <strongs number="8074">destroyed</strongs>them, and <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs>them with <strongs number="6076">emerods</strongs>, <em> even </em><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="795">Ashdod</strongs>and the <strongs number="1366">coasts</strongs>thereof. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And when the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="795">Ashdod</strongs><strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><em> it </em><em> was </em><strongs number="3651">so</strongs>, they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, The <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3427">abide</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>us: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>is <strongs number="7185">sore</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>us, and <strongs number="5921">upon</strongs><strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>our <strongs number="430">god</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>They <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>therefore and <strongs number="622">gathered</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5633">lords</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>them, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">What</strongs>shall we <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>with the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>? And they <strongs number="559">answered</strongs>, Let the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>be carried <strongs number="5437">about</strongs>unto <strongs number="1661">Gath</strongs>. And they <strongs number="5437">carried</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>about <em> thither </em>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And it <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><em> so </em>, that, <strongs number="310">after</strongs>they had carried it <strongs number="5437 *853">about</strongs>, the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs>against the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>with a <strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="4103">destruction</strongs>: and he <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, both <strongs number="4480 6996">small</strongs>and <strongs number="1419">great</strongs>, and they had <strongs number="6076">emerods</strongs>in their secret <strongs number="8368">parts</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>Therefore they <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>to <strongs number="6138">Ekron</strongs>. And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, as the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs>to <strongs number="6138">Ekron</strongs>, that the <strongs number="6139">Ekronites</strongs>cried <strongs number="2199">out</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, They have brought <strongs number="5437">about</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>us, to <strongs number="4191">slay</strongs>us and our <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>So they <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>and gathered <strongs number="622">together</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5633">lords</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, Send <strongs number="7971">away</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and let it go <strongs number="7725">again</strongs>to his own <strongs number="4725">place</strongs>, that it <strongs number="4191">slay</strongs>us <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>, and our <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs>a <strongs number="4194">deadly</strongs><strongs number="4103">destruction</strongs>throughout <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>; the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>was <strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="3513">heavy</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>And the <strongs number="376">men</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="4191">died</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>were <strongs number="5221">smitten</strongs>with the <strongs number="6076">emerods</strongs>: and the <strongs number="7775">cry</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>to <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>. </verse>
