      <verse number='1'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, How <strongs number="5704 4100">long</strongs>wilt <strongs number="859">thou</strongs><strongs number="56">mourn</strongs><strongs number="413">for</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, seeing <strongs number="589">I</strongs>have <strongs number="3988">rejected</strongs>him from <strongs number="4480 4427">reigning</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>? <strongs number="4390">fill</strongs>thine <strongs number="7161">horn</strongs>with <strongs number="8081">oil</strongs>, and <strongs number="1980">go</strongs>, I will <strongs number="7971">send</strongs>thee <strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs>the <strongs number="1022">Bethlehemite</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>I have <strongs number="7200">provided</strongs>me a <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>among his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="349">How</strongs>can I <strongs number="1980">go</strongs>? if <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="8085">hear</strongs><em> it </em>, he will <strongs number="2026">kill</strongs>me. And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="3947">Take</strongs>a <strongs number="5697 1241">heifer</strongs><strongs number="3027">with</strongs>thee, and <strongs number="559">say</strongs>, I am <strongs number="935">come</strongs>to <strongs number="2076">sacrifice</strongs>to the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="7121">call</strongs><strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs>to the <strongs number="2077">sacrifice</strongs>, and <strongs number="595">I</strongs>will <strongs number="3045">show</strongs>thee <strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="834">what</strongs>thou shalt <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>: and thou shalt <strongs number="4886">anoint</strongs>unto me <em> him </em><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="834">whom</strongs>I <strongs number="559">name</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>that <strongs number="834">which</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">came</strongs>to <strongs number="1035">Bethlehem</strongs>. And the <strongs number="2205">elders</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">town</strongs><strongs number="2729">trembled</strongs>at his <strongs number="7122">coming</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="935">Comest</strongs>thou <strongs number="7965">peaceably</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And he <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="7965">Peaceably</strongs>: I am <strongs number="935">come</strongs>to <strongs number="2076">sacrifice</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>: sanctify <strongs number="6942">yourselves</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>me to the <strongs number="2077">sacrifice</strongs>. And he <strongs number="6942">sanctified</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs>and his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, and <strongs number="7121">called</strongs>them to the <strongs number="2077">sacrifice</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, when they were <strongs number="935">come</strongs>, that he looked <strongs number="7200">on</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="446">Eliab</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="389">Surely</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>'s <strongs number="4899">anointed</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="5048">before</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>But the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, <strongs number="5027">Look</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="413">on</strongs>his <strongs number="4758">countenance</strongs>, or <strongs number="413">on</strongs>the <strongs number="1364">height</strongs>of his <strongs number="6967">stature</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>I have <strongs number="3988">refused</strongs>him: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><em> the </em><em> LORD </em><em> seeth </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="834">as</strongs><strongs number="120">man</strongs><strongs number="7200">seeth</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="120">man</strongs><strongs number="7200">looketh</strongs>on the outward <strongs number="5869">appearance</strongs>, but the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="7200">looketh</strongs>on the <strongs number="3824">heart</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>Then <strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs><strongs number="7121 413">called</strongs><strongs number="41">Abinadab</strongs>, and made him <strongs number="5674">pass</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>. And he <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="1571 3808">Neither</strongs>hath the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="977">chosen</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>Then <strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs>made <strongs number="8048">Shammah</strongs>to pass <strongs number="5674">by</strongs>. And he <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="1571 3808">Neither</strongs>hath the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="977">chosen</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>Again, <strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs>made <strongs number="7651">seven</strongs>of his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>to <strongs number="5674">pass</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>. And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs>, The <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>hath <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="977">chosen</strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs>. </verse>

And he <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, There <strongs number="7604">remaineth</strongs><strongs number="5750">yet</strongs>the <strongs number="6996">youngest</strongs>, and, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, he <strongs number="7462">keepeth</strongs>the <strongs number="6629">sheep</strongs>. So <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>rose <strongs number="6965">up</strongs>, and <strongs number="1980">went</strongs>to <strongs number="7414">Ramah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>But the <strongs number="7307">Spirit</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5493">departed</strongs><strongs number="4480 5973">from</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, and an <strongs number="7451">evil</strongs><strongs number="7307">spirit</strongs><strongs number="4480 854">from</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="1204">troubled</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>'s <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>him, <strongs number="2009">Behold</strongs><strongs number="4994">now</strongs>, an <strongs number="7451">evil</strongs><strongs number="7307">spirit</strongs>from <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="1204">troubleth</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>Let our <strongs number="113">lord</strongs><strongs number="4994">now</strongs><strongs number="559">command</strongs>thy <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>, <em> which </em><em> are </em><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>thee, to seek <strongs number="1245">out</strongs>a <strongs number="376">man</strongs>, <em> who </em><em> is </em>a <strongs number="3045">cunning</strongs><strongs number="5059">player</strongs>on a <strongs number="3658">harp</strongs>: and it shall come to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, <strongs number="1961">when</strongs>the <strongs number="7451">evil</strongs><strongs number="7307">spirit</strongs>from <strongs number="430">God</strongs>is <strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>thee, that he shall <strongs number="5059">play</strongs>with his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>, and thou shalt be <strongs number="2895">well</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>, <strongs number="7200">Provide</strongs>me <strongs number="4994">now</strongs>a <strongs number="376">man</strongs>that can <strongs number="5059">play</strongs><strongs number="3190">well</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">bring</strongs><em> him </em><strongs number="413">to</strongs>me. </verse>
