      <verse number='1'>Then <strongs number="5176">Nahash</strongs>the <strongs number="5984">Ammonite</strongs>came <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>, and <strongs number="2583">encamped</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="3003 1568">Jabesh</strongs>-gilead: and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3003">Jabesh</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="5176">Nahash</strongs>, <strongs number="3772">Make</strongs>a <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>with us, and we will <strongs number="5647">serve</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And <strongs number="5176">Nahash</strongs>the <strongs number="5984">Ammonite</strongs><strongs number="559 413">answered</strongs>them, On <strongs number="2063">this</strongs><em> condition </em>will I <strongs number="3772">make</strongs><em> a </em><em> covenant </em>with you, that I may thrust <strongs number="5365">out</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>your <strongs number="3225">right</strongs><strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>, and <strongs number="7760">lay</strongs>it <em> for </em>a <strongs number="2781">reproach</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And the <strongs number="2205">elders</strongs>of <strongs number="3003">Jabesh</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>him, Give us <strongs number="7651">seven</strongs><strongs number="3117">days</strongs>' <strongs number="7503">respite</strongs>, that we may <strongs number="7971">send</strongs><strongs number="4397">messengers</strongs>unto <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1366">coasts</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: and then, <strongs number="518">if</strongs><em> there </em><em> be </em>no <strongs number="369">man</strongs>to <strongs number="3467">save</strongs>us, we will come <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Then <strongs number="935">came</strongs>the <strongs number="4397">messengers</strongs>to <strongs number="1390">Gibeah</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, and <strongs number="1696">told</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">tidings</strongs>in the <strongs number="241">ears</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>: and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>lifted <strongs number="5375">up</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="6963">voices</strongs>, and <strongs number="1058">wept</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>the <strongs number="1241">herd</strongs>out <strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="7704">field</strongs>; and <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">What</strongs><em> aileth </em>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs>they <strongs number="1058">weep</strongs>?       <verse number='7'>And he <strongs number="3947">took</strongs>a <strongs number="6776">yoke</strongs>of <strongs number="1241">oxen</strongs>, and hewed them in <strongs number="5408">pieces</strongs>, and <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><em> them </em>throughout <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1366">coasts</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>by the <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs>of <strongs number="4397">messengers</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="834">Whosoever</strongs>cometh not <strongs number="369 3318">forth</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>and <strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, <strongs number="3541">so</strongs>shall it be <strongs number="6213">done</strongs>unto his <strongs number="1241">oxen</strongs>.       <verse number='8'>And when he <strongs number="6485">numbered</strongs>them in <strongs number="966">Bezek</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="1961">were</strongs><strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>, and the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="7970">thirty</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto the <strongs number="4397">messengers</strongs>that <strongs number="935">came</strongs>, <strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs>shall ye <strongs number="559">say</strongs>unto the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3003 1568">Jabesh</strongs>-gilead, <strongs number="4279">Tomorrow</strongs>, by <em> that </em><em> time </em>the <strongs number="8121">sun</strongs>be <strongs number="2527">hot</strongs>, ye shall <strongs number="1961">have</strongs><strongs number="8668">help</strongs>. And the <strongs number="4397">messengers</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs>and <strongs number="5046">showed</strongs><em> it </em>to the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3003">Jabesh</strongs>; and they were <strongs number="8055">glad</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>Therefore the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3003">Jabesh</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="4279">Tomorrow</strongs>we will come <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>you, and ye shall <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>with us <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>that <strongs number="5869">seemeth</strongs><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>unto you. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And it <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><em> so </em>on the <strongs number="4480 4283">morrow</strongs>, that <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="7760">put</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>in <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="7218">companies</strongs>; and they <strongs number="935">came</strongs>into the <strongs number="8432">midst</strongs>of the <strongs number="4264">host</strongs>in the <strongs number="1242">morning</strongs><strongs number="821">watch</strongs>, and <strongs number="5221">slew</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5983">Ammonites</strongs><strongs number="5704">until</strongs>the <strongs number="2527">heat</strongs>of the <strongs number="3117">day</strongs>: and it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, that they which <strongs number="7604">remained</strongs>were <strongs number="6327">scattered</strongs>, so that <strongs number="8147">two</strongs>of them were <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7604">left</strongs><strongs number="3162">together</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, <strongs number="4310">Who</strongs><em> is </em>he that <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, Shall <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="4427">reign</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>us? <strongs number="5414">bring</strongs>the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>, that we may put them to <strongs number="4191">death</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, There shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>a <strongs number="376">man</strongs>be put to <strongs number="4191">death</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="3117">today</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>hath <strongs number="6213">wrought</strongs><strongs number="8668">salvation</strongs>in <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, <strongs number="1980">Come</strongs>, and let us <strongs number="1980">go</strongs>to <strongs number="1537">Gilgal</strongs>, and <strongs number="2318">renew</strongs>the <strongs number="4410">kingdom</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="1980">went</strongs>to <strongs number="1537">Gilgal</strongs>; and <strongs number="8033">there</strongs>they made Saul <strongs number="4427 *853 7586">king</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>in <strongs number="1537">Gilgal</strongs>; and <strongs number="8033">there</strongs>they <strongs number="2076">sacrificed</strongs><strongs number="2077">sacrifices</strongs>of peace <strongs number="8002">offerings</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>; and <strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="8055">rejoiced</strongs><strongs number="3966">greatly</strongs>. </verse>
