      <verse number='6'>(For they will come <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>us) <strongs number="5704">till</strongs>we have <strongs number="5423">drawn</strongs>them <strongs number="4480">from</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>they will <strongs number="559">say</strongs>, They <strongs number="5127">flee</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>us, <strongs number="834">as</strongs>at the <strongs number="7223">first</strongs>: therefore we will <strongs number="5127">flee</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>Then <strongs number="859">ye</strongs>shall rise <strongs number="6965">up</strongs>from the <strongs number="4480 693">ambush</strongs>, and seize <strongs number="3423">upon</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>: for the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>your <strongs number="430">God</strongs>will <strongs number="5414">deliver</strongs>it into your <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And it shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>, when ye have <strongs number="8610">taken</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, <em> that </em>ye shall <strongs number="3341">set</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>on <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>: according to the <strongs number="1697">commandment</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>shall ye <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>. <strongs number="7200">See</strongs>, I have <strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs>you. </verse>
      <verse number='9'><strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>therefore sent them <strongs number="7971">forth</strongs>: and they <strongs number="1980">went</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>lie in <strongs number="3993">ambush</strongs>, and <strongs number="3427">abode</strongs><strongs number="996">between</strongs><strongs number="1008">Bethel</strongs>and <strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs>, on the west <strongs number="4480 3220">side</strongs>of <strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs>: but <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="3885">lodged</strongs><strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3915">night</strongs><strongs number="8432">among</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>rose up <strongs number="7925">early</strongs>in the <strongs number="1242">morning</strongs>, and <strongs number="6485">numbered</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, and went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">he</strongs>and the <strongs number="2205">elders</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>to <strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='14'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, when the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs><strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><em> it </em>, that they <strongs number="4116">hasted</strongs>and rose up <strongs number="7925">early</strongs>, and the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="7125">against</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>to <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">he</strongs>and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>his <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, at a time <strongs number="4150">appointed</strongs>, <strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="6160">plain</strongs>; but <strongs number="1931">he</strongs><strongs number="3045">knew</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><em> there </em><em> were </em>liers in <strongs number="693">ambush</strongs>against him <strongs number="4480 310">behind</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>made as if they were <strongs number="5060">beaten</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>them, and <strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>by the <strongs number="1870">way</strongs>of the <strongs number="4057">wilderness</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> were </em>in <strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs>were called <strongs number="2199">together</strongs>to <strongs number="7291">pursue</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>them: and they <strongs number="7291">pursued</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>, and were drawn <strongs number="5423">away</strongs><strongs number="4480">from</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>And there was <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>a <strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="7604">left</strongs>in <strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs>or <strongs number="1008">Bethel</strongs>, <strongs number="834">that</strongs>went not <strongs number="3318 3808">out</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: and they <strongs number="5800">left</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs><strongs number="6605">open</strongs>, and <strongs number="7291">pursued</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>, Stretch <strongs number="5186">out</strongs>the <strongs number="3591">spear</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> is </em>in thy <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs><strongs number="413">toward</strongs><strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>I will <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>it into thine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>. And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>stretched <strongs number="5186">out</strongs>the <strongs number="3591">spear</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> he </em><em> had </em>in his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs><strongs number="413">toward</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>And the <strongs number="693">ambush</strongs><strongs number="6965">arose</strongs><strongs number="4120">quickly</strongs>out of their <strongs number="4480 4725">place</strongs>, and they <strongs number="7323">ran</strongs>as soon as he had stretched <strongs number="5186">out</strongs>his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>: and they <strongs number="935">entered</strongs>into the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, and <strongs number="3920">took</strongs>it, and <strongs number="4116">hasted</strongs>and <strongs number="3341">set</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>on <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='20'>And when the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs><strongs number="6437">looked</strongs><strongs number="310">behind</strongs>them, they <strongs number="7200">saw</strongs>, and, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, the <strongs number="6227">smoke</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>ascended <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>to <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>, and they <strongs number="1961">had</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="3027">power</strongs>to <strongs number="5127">flee</strongs>this <strongs number="2008">way</strongs>or that <strongs number="2008">way</strongs>: and the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>that <strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>to the <strongs number="4057">wilderness</strongs>turned <strongs number="2015">back</strongs><strongs number="413">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="7291">pursuers</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='22'>And the <strongs number="428">other</strongs>issued <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs><strongs number="7125">against</strongs>them; so they <strongs number="1961">were</strongs>in the <strongs number="8432">midst</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="428">some</strongs>on this <strongs number="4480 2088">side</strongs>, and <strongs number="428">some</strongs>on that <strongs number="4480 2088">side</strongs>: and they <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs>them, <strongs number="5704">so</strongs>that they let <strongs number="1115">none</strongs>of them <strongs number="7604">remain</strongs>or <strongs number="6412">escape</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='28'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="8313">burnt</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs>, and <strongs number="7760">made</strongs>it a <strongs number="8510">heap</strongs><strongs number="5769">forever</strongs>, <em> even </em>a <strongs number="8077">desolation</strongs><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
