      <verse number='16'>And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, God <strongs number="2486">forbid</strongs>that we should <strongs number="4480 5800">forsake</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, to <strongs number="5647">serve</strongs><strongs number="312">other</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>; </verse>
      <verse number='17'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">he</strongs><em> it </em><em> is </em>that <strongs number="5927">brought</strongs>us up and our <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="4714">Egypt</strongs>, from the <strongs number="4480 1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="5650">bondage</strongs>, and <strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs><strongs number="428">those</strongs><strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="226">signs</strongs>in our <strongs number="5869">sight</strongs>, and <strongs number="8104">preserved</strongs>us in <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1870">way</strongs><strongs number="834">wherein</strongs>we <strongs number="1980">went</strongs>, and among <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="7130">through</strongs>whom we <strongs number="5674">passed</strongs>: </verse>

      <verse number='20'><strongs number="3588">If</strongs>ye <strongs number="5800">forsake</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="5647">serve</strongs><strongs number="5236">strange</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>, then he will <strongs number="7725">turn</strongs>and do you <strongs number="7489">hurt</strongs>, and <strongs number="3615">consume</strongs>you, <strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>he hath done you <strongs number="3190">good</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">Nay</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">but</strongs>we will <strongs number="5647">serve</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, <strongs number="859">Ye</strongs><em> are </em><strongs number="5707">witnesses</strongs>against yourselves <strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="859">ye</strongs>have <strongs number="977">chosen</strongs>you <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, to <strongs number="5647">serve</strongs>him.       <verse number='25'>So <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="3772">made</strongs>a <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>with the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, and <strongs number="7760">set</strongs>them a <strongs number="2706">statute</strongs>and an <strongs number="4941">ordinance</strongs>in <strongs number="7927">Shechem</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='26'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="3789">wrote</strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1697">words</strongs>in the <strongs number="5612">book</strongs>of the <strongs number="8451">law</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and <strongs number="3947">took</strongs>a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="68">stone</strongs>, and set it <strongs number="6965">up</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="8478">under</strongs>an <strongs number="427">oak</strongs>, <strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> was </em>by the <strongs number="4720">sanctuary</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='29'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="1697">things</strongs>, that <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="5126">Nun</strongs>, the <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="4191">died</strongs>, <em> being </em>a <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs>and <strongs number="6235">ten</strongs>years <strongs number="8141">old</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='30'>And they <strongs number="6912">buried</strongs>him in the <strongs number="1366">border</strongs>of his <strongs number="5159">inheritance</strongs>in <strongs number="8556">Timnathserah</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> is </em>in <strongs number="2022">mount</strongs><strongs number="669">Ephraim</strongs>, on the north <strongs number="4480 6828">side</strongs>of the <strongs number="2022">hill</strongs>of <strongs number="1608">Gaash</strongs>. </verse>
