      <verse number='1'>And <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="3427">abode</strongs>in <strongs number="7851">Shittim</strongs>, and the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="2490">began</strongs>to commit <strongs number="2181">whoredom</strongs><strongs number="413">with</strongs>the <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>of <strongs number="4124">Moab</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And they <strongs number="7121">called</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>unto the <strongs number="2077">sacrifices</strongs>of their <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>: and the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>did <strongs number="398">eat</strongs>, and bowed <strongs number="7812">down</strongs>to their <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>joined <strongs number="6775">himself</strongs>unto <strongs number="1187">Baal</strongs>-peor: and the <strongs number="639">anger</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>was <strongs number="2734">kindled</strongs>against <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, <strongs number="3947">Take</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="7218">heads</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, and hang them <strongs number="3363 *853">up</strongs>before the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5048">against</strongs>the <strongs number="8121">sun</strongs>, that the <strongs number="2740">fierce</strongs><strongs number="639">anger</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>may be turned <strongs number="7725">away</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='6'>And, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, <strongs number="376">one</strongs>of the <strongs number="4480 1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs>and <strongs number="7126">brought</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>his <strongs number="251">brethren</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>a Midianitish <strongs number="4084">woman</strongs>in the <strongs number="5869">sight</strongs>of <strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, and in the <strongs number="5869">sight</strongs>of <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="1992">who</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="1058">weeping</strongs><em> before </em>the <strongs number="6607">door</strongs>of the <strongs number="168">tabernacle</strongs>of the <strongs number="4150">congregation</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And when <strongs number="6372">Phinehas</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="499">Eleazar</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="175">Aaron</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>, <strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><em> it </em>, he rose <strongs number="6965">up</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 8432">among</strongs>the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs>, and <strongs number="3947">took</strongs>a <strongs number="7420">javelin</strongs>in his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>; </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And he <strongs number="935">went</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>the <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>the <strongs number="6898">tent</strongs>, and <strongs number="1856">thrust</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="8147">both</strongs>of them through, <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and the <strongs number="802">woman</strongs><strongs number="413">through</strongs>her <strongs number="6897">belly</strongs>. So the <strongs number="4046">plague</strongs>was <strongs number="6113">stayed</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">from</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And those that <strongs number="4191">died</strongs>in the <strongs number="4046">plague</strongs><strongs number="1961">were</strongs><strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs>and <strongs number="702">four</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='11'><strongs number="6372">Phinehas</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="499">Eleazar</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="175">Aaron</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>, hath turned my wrath <strongs number="7725 *853 2534">away</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">from</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, while he was <strongs number="7065">zealous</strongs>for my <strongs number="854 7068">sake</strongs><strongs number="8432">among</strongs>them, that I <strongs number="3615">consumed</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>in my <strongs number="7068">jealousy</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'><strongs number="3651">Wherefore</strongs><strongs number="559">say</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">Behold</strongs>, I <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>unto him <strongs number="*853"></strongs>my <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>of <strongs number="7965">peace</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And he shall <strongs number="1961">have</strongs>it, and his <strongs number="2233">seed</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>him, <em> even </em>the <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>of an <strongs number="5769">everlasting</strongs><strongs number="3550">priesthood</strongs>; <strongs number="8478 834">because</strongs>he was <strongs number="7065">zealous</strongs>for his <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and made an <strongs number="3722">atonement</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Now the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="376 3478">Israelite</strongs>that was <strongs number="5221">slain</strongs><em> even </em><strongs number="834">that</strongs>was <strongs number="5221">slain</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>the Midianitish <strongs number="4084">woman</strongs>, <em> was </em><strongs number="2174">Zimri</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="5543">Salu</strongs>, a <strongs number="5387">prince</strongs>of a <strongs number="1">chief</strongs><strongs number="1004">house</strongs>among the <strongs number="8099">Simeonites</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="4084">Midianitish</strongs><strongs number="802">woman</strongs>that was <strongs number="5221">slain</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="3579">Cozbi</strongs>, the <strongs number="1323">daughter</strongs>of <strongs number="6698">Zur</strongs>; <strongs number="1931">he</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="7218">head</strongs>over a <strongs number="523">people</strongs>, <em> and </em>of a <strongs number="1">chief</strongs><strongs number="1004">house</strongs>in <strongs number="4080">Midian</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='17'><strongs number="6887">Vex</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4084">Midianites</strongs>, and <strongs number="5221">smite</strongs>them: </verse>
      <verse number='18'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="6887">vex</strongs>you with their <strongs number="5231">wiles</strongs>, <strongs number="834">wherewith</strongs>they have <strongs number="5230">beguiled</strongs>you <strongs number="5921">in</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">matter</strongs>of <strongs number="6465">Peor</strongs>, and <strongs number="5921">in</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">matter</strongs>of <strongs number="3579">Cozbi</strongs>, the <strongs number="1323">daughter</strongs>of a <strongs number="5387">prince</strongs>of <strongs number="4080">Midian</strongs>, their <strongs number="269">sister</strongs>, which was <strongs number="5221">slain</strongs>in the <strongs number="3117">day</strongs>of the <strongs number="4046">plague</strongs>for Peor's <strongs number="5921 1697 6465">sake</strongs>. </verse>
