      <verse number='1'><strongs number="8085">Hear</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">word</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, ye <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>hath a <strongs number="7379">controversy</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>the <strongs number="3427">inhabitants</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs><em> there </em><em> is </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="571">truth</strongs>, <strongs number="369">nor</strongs><strongs number="2617">mercy</strongs>, <strongs number="369">nor</strongs><strongs number="1847">knowledge</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>in the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>By <strongs number="422">swearing</strongs>, and <strongs number="3584">lying</strongs>, and <strongs number="7523">killing</strongs>, and <strongs number="1589">stealing</strongs>, and committing <strongs number="5003">adultery</strongs>, they break <strongs number="6555">out</strongs>, and <strongs number="1818">blood</strongs><strongs number="5060">toucheth</strongs><strongs number="1818">blood</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'><strongs number="5921 3651">Therefore</strongs>shall the <strongs number="776">land</strongs><strongs number="56">mourn</strongs>, and every <strongs number="3605">one</strongs>that <strongs number="3427">dwelleth</strongs>therein shall <strongs number="535">languish</strongs>, with the <strongs number="2416">beasts</strongs>of the <strongs number="7704">field</strongs>, and with the <strongs number="5775">fowls</strongs>of <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>; yea, the <strongs number="1709">fishes</strongs>of the <strongs number="3220">sea</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>shall be taken <strongs number="622">away</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'><strongs number="389">Yet</strongs>let <strongs number="408">no</strongs><strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="7378">strive</strongs>, <strongs number="408">nor</strongs><strongs number="3198">reprove</strongs><strongs number="376">another</strongs>: for thy <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><em> are </em>as they that <strongs number="7378">strive</strongs>with the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>Therefore shalt thou <strongs number="3782">fall</strongs>in the <strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, and the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>shall <strongs number="3782">fall</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>thee in the <strongs number="3915">night</strongs>, and I will <strongs number="1820">destroy</strongs>thy <strongs number="517">mother</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>My <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>are <strongs number="1820">destroyed</strongs>for <strongs number="4480 1097">lack</strongs>of <strongs number="1847">knowledge</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">because</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs>hast <strongs number="3988">rejected</strongs><strongs number="1847">knowledge</strongs>, I will also <strongs number="3988">reject</strongs>thee, that thou shalt be no <strongs number="4480 3547">priest</strongs>to me: seeing thou hast <strongs number="7911">forgotten</strongs>the <strongs number="8451">law</strongs>of thy <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, <strongs number="589">I</strongs>will <strongs number="1571">also</strongs><strongs number="7911">forget</strongs>thy <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>As they were <strongs number="7231">increased</strongs>, <strongs number="3651">so</strongs>they <strongs number="2398">sinned</strongs>against me: <em> therefore </em>will I <strongs number="4171">change</strongs>their <strongs number="3519">glory</strongs>into <strongs number="7036">shame</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>They eat <strongs number="398">up</strongs>the <strongs number="2403">sin</strongs>of my <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, and they <strongs number="5375">set</strongs>their <strongs number="5315">heart</strongs><strongs number="413">on</strongs>their <strongs number="5771">iniquity</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And there shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>, like <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, like <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>: and I will <strongs number="6485 5921">punish</strongs>them for their <strongs number="1870">ways</strongs>, and <strongs number="7725">reward</strongs>them their <strongs number="4611">doings</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>For they shall <strongs number="398">eat</strongs>, and <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>have <strongs number="7646">enough</strongs>: they shall commit <strongs number="2181">whoredom</strongs>, and shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="6555">increase</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>they have left <strongs number="5800">off</strongs>to take <strongs number="8104">heed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>to the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'><strongs number="2184">Whoredom</strongs>and <strongs number="3196">wine</strongs>and new <strongs number="8492">wine</strongs>take <strongs number="3947">away</strongs>the <strongs number="3820">heart</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>My <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>ask <strongs number="7592">counsel</strongs>at their <strongs number="6086">stocks</strongs>, and their <strongs number="4731">staff</strongs><strongs number="5046">declareth</strongs>unto them: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="7307">spirit</strongs>of <strongs number="2183">whoredoms</strongs>hath caused <em> them </em>to <strongs number="8582">err</strongs>, and they have gone a <strongs number="2181">whoring</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 8478">under</strongs>their <strongs number="430">God</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>They <strongs number="2076">sacrifice</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="7218">tops</strongs>of the <strongs number="2022">mountains</strongs>, and burn <strongs number="6999">incense</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="1389">hills</strongs>, <strongs number="8478">under</strongs><strongs number="437">oaks</strongs>and <strongs number="3839">poplars</strongs>and <strongs number="424">elms</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>the <strongs number="6738">shadow</strongs>thereof <em> is </em><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>: <strongs number="5921 3651">therefore</strongs>your <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>shall commit <strongs number="2181">whoredom</strongs>, and your <strongs number="3618">spouses</strongs>shall commit <strongs number="5003">adultery</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>I will <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="6485 5921">punish</strongs>your <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs><strongs number="3588">when</strongs>they commit <strongs number="2181">whoredom</strongs>, nor your <strongs number="3618">spouses</strongs><strongs number="3588">when</strongs>they commit <strongs number="5003">adultery</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="1992">themselves</strongs>are <strongs number="6504">separated</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs><strongs number="2181">whores</strongs>, and they <strongs number="2076">sacrifice</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs><strongs number="6948">harlots</strongs>: therefore the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><em> that </em>doth <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="995">understand</strongs>shall <strongs number="3832">fall</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'><strongs number="518">Though</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs>, <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, play the <strongs number="2181">harlot</strongs>, <em> yet </em>let <strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="816">offend</strongs>; and <strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs>ye unto <strongs number="1537">Gilgal</strongs>, <strongs number="408">neither</strongs>go ye <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>to <strongs number="1007">Beth</strongs>-aven, <strongs number="408">nor</strongs><strongs number="7650">swear</strongs>, The <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="2416">liveth</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>slideth <strongs number="5637">back</strongs>as a <strongs number="5637">backsliding</strongs><strongs number="6510">heifer</strongs>: <strongs number="6258">now</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>will <strongs number="7462">feed</strongs>them as a <strongs number="3532">lamb</strongs>in a large <strongs number="4800">place</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'><strongs number="669">Ephraim</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="2266">joined</strongs>to <strongs number="6091">idols</strongs>: let him <strongs number="5117">alone</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Their <strongs number="5435">drink</strongs>is <strongs number="5493">sour</strongs>: they have committed whoredom <strongs number="2181 2181">continually</strongs>: her <strongs number="4043">rulers</strongs><em> with </em><strongs number="7036">shame</strongs>do <strongs number="157">love</strongs>, <strongs number="3051">Give</strongs>ye. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>The <strongs number="7307">wind</strongs>hath bound her <strongs number="6887 *853">up</strongs>in her <strongs number="3671">wings</strongs>, and they shall be <strongs number="954">ashamed</strongs>because of their <strongs number="4480 2077">sacrifices</strongs>. </verse>
