      <verse number='1'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>in the <strongs number="2320">month</strongs><strongs number="5212">Nisan</strongs>, in the <strongs number="6242">twentieth</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>of <strongs number="783">Artaxerxes</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, <em> that </em><strongs number="3196">wine</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>him: and I took <strongs number="5375">up</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3196">wine</strongs>, and <strongs number="5414">gave</strongs><em> it </em>unto the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>. Now I had <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="1961">been</strongs><em> formerly </em><strongs number="7451">sad</strongs>in his <strongs number="6440">presence</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>Wherefore the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto me, <strongs number="4069">Why</strongs><em> is </em>thy <strongs number="6440">countenance</strongs><strongs number="7451">sad</strongs>, seeing <strongs number="859">thou</strongs><em> art </em><strongs number="369">not</strongs><strongs number="2470">sick</strongs>? <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="369">nothing</strongs><em> else </em><strongs number="3588 518">but</strongs><strongs number="7455">sorrow</strongs>of <strongs number="3820">heart</strongs>. Then I was <strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="7235">sore</strongs><strongs number="3372">afraid</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, Let the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="2421">live</strongs><strongs number="5769">forever</strongs>: <strongs number="4069">why</strongs>should <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>my <strongs number="6440">countenance</strongs>be <strongs number="7489">sad</strongs>, <strongs number="834">when</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, the <strongs number="1004">place</strongs>of my <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>' <strongs number="6913">sepulchers</strongs>, <em> lieth </em><strongs number="2720">waste</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8179">gates</strongs>thereof are <strongs number="398">consumed</strongs>with <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Then the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto me, <strongs number="5921">For</strongs><strongs number="4100 2088">what</strongs>dost <strongs number="859">thou</strongs>make <strongs number="1245">request</strongs>? So I <strongs number="6419">prayed</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And I <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, <strongs number="518">If</strongs>it <strongs number="2895 5921">please</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, and <strongs number="518">if</strongs>thy <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs>have found <strongs number="3190">favor</strongs>in thy <strongs number="6440">sight</strongs>, <strongs number="834">that</strongs>thou wouldest <strongs number="7971">send</strongs>me <strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, <strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>of my <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>' <strongs number="6913">sepulchers</strongs>, that I may <strongs number="1129">build</strongs>it. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto me, (the <strongs number="7694">queen</strongs>also <strongs number="3427">sitting</strongs><strongs number="681">by</strongs>him,) <strongs number="5704">For</strongs>how <strongs number="4970">long</strongs>shall thy <strongs number="4109">journey</strongs><strongs number="1961">be</strongs>? and <strongs number="4970">when</strongs>wilt thou <strongs number="7725">return</strongs>? So it <strongs number="3190 6440">pleased</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>to <strongs number="7971">send</strongs>me; and I <strongs number="5414">set</strongs>him a <strongs number="2165">time</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>Moreover I <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, <strongs number="518">If</strongs>it <strongs number="2895 5921">please</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, let <strongs number="107">letters</strongs>be <strongs number="5414">given</strongs>me <strongs number="5921">to</strongs>the <strongs number="6346">governors</strongs><strongs number="5676">beyond</strongs>the <strongs number="5104">river</strongs>, <strongs number="834">that</strongs>they may convey me <strongs number="5674">over</strongs><strongs number="5704 834">till</strongs>I <strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>; </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And a <strongs number="107">letter</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="623">Asaph</strongs>the <strongs number="8104">keeper</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="6508">forest</strongs>, <strongs number="834">that</strongs>he may <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>me <strongs number="6086">timber</strongs>to make <strongs number="7136">beams</strongs>for <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="8179">gates</strongs>of the <strongs number="1002">palace</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> appertained </em>to the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>, and for the <strongs number="2346">wall</strongs>of the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, and for the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>I shall <strongs number="935">enter</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>. And the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="5414">granted</strongs>me, according to the <strongs number="2896">good</strongs><strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of my <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>me. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>Then I <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="6346">governors</strongs><strongs number="5676">beyond</strongs>the <strongs number="5104">river</strongs>, and <strongs number="5414">gave</strongs>them <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="107">letters</strongs>. Now the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>had <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="8269">captains</strongs>of the <strongs number="2428">army</strongs>and <strongs number="6571">horsemen</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>me. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>When <strongs number="5571">Sanballat</strongs>the <strongs number="2772">Horonite</strongs>, and <strongs number="2900">Tobiah</strongs>the <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs>, the <strongs number="5984">Ammonite</strongs>, <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><em> of </em><em> it </em>, it <strongs number="7489">grieved</strongs>them <strongs number="1419 7451">exceedingly</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>there was <strongs number="935">come</strongs>a <strongs number="120">man</strongs>to <strongs number="1245">seek</strongs>the <strongs number="2896">welfare</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>So I <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>, and <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="3117">days</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>And I <strongs number="6965">arose</strongs>in the <strongs number="3915">night</strongs>, <strongs number="589">I</strongs>and some <strongs number="4592">few</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>me; <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs><strongs number="5046">told</strongs>I <em> any </em><strongs number="120">man</strongs><strongs number="4100">what</strongs>my <strongs number="430">God</strongs>had <strongs number="5414">put</strongs><strongs number="413">in</strongs>my <strongs number="3820">heart</strongs>to <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>at <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>: <strongs number="369">neither</strongs><em> was </em><em> there </em><em> any </em><strongs number="929">beast</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>me, <strongs number="3588 518">save</strongs>the <strongs number="929">beast</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="7392">rode</strongs>upon. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And I went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs>by <strongs number="3915">night</strongs>by the <strongs number="8179">gate</strongs>of the <strongs number="1516">valley</strongs>, even <strongs number="413 6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="8577">dragon</strongs><strongs number="5869">well</strongs>, and <strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="830">dung</strongs><strongs number="8179">port</strongs>, and <strongs number="1961 7663">viewed</strongs>the <strongs number="2346">walls</strongs>of <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>were broken <strongs number="6555">down</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8179">gates</strongs>thereof were <strongs number="398">consumed</strongs>with <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Then I went <strongs number="5674">on</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="8179">gate</strongs>of the <strongs number="5869">fountain</strongs>, and <strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="1295">pool</strongs>: but <em> there </em><em> was </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="4725">place</strongs>for the <strongs number="929">beast</strongs><em> that </em><em> was </em><strongs number="8478">under</strongs>me to <strongs number="5674">pass</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>Then went I <strongs number="1961 5927">up</strongs>in the <strongs number="3915">night</strongs>by the <strongs number="5158">brook</strongs>, and <strongs number="1961 7663">viewed</strongs>the <strongs number="2346">wall</strongs>, and turned <strongs number="7725">back</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">entered</strongs>by the <strongs number="8179">gate</strongs>of the <strongs number="1516">valley</strongs>, and <em> so </em><strongs number="7725">returned</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And the <strongs number="5461">rulers</strongs><strongs number="3045">knew</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="575">whither</strongs>I <strongs number="1980">went</strongs>, or <strongs number="4100">what</strongs><strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs>; <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>had I <strongs number="5704">as</strongs><strongs number="3651">yet</strongs><strongs number="5046">told</strongs><em> it </em>to the <strongs number="3064">Jews</strongs>, nor to the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>, nor to the <strongs number="2715">nobles</strongs>, nor to the <strongs number="5461">rulers</strongs>, nor to the <strongs number="3499">rest</strongs>that <strongs number="6213">did</strongs>the <strongs number="4399">work</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>I <strongs number="413">unto</strongs>them, <strongs number="859">Ye</strongs><strongs number="7200">see</strongs>the <strongs number="7451">distress</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="587">we</strongs><em> are </em>in, <strongs number="834">how</strongs><strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs><em> lieth </em><strongs number="2720">waste</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8179">gates</strongs>thereof are <strongs number="3341">burned</strongs>with <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>: <strongs number="1980">come</strongs>, and let us build <strongs number="1129">up</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="2346">wall</strongs>of <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>, that we <strongs number="1961">be</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="5750">more</strongs>a <strongs number="2781">reproach</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Then I <strongs number="5046">told</strongs>them of <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of my <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="834 1931">which</strongs>was <strongs number="2896">good</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>me; as <strongs number="637">also</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="1697">words</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>he had <strongs number="559">spoken</strongs>unto me. And they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, Let us rise <strongs number="6965">up</strongs>and <strongs number="1129">build</strongs>. So they <strongs number="2388">strengthened</strongs>their <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs>for <em> this </em><strongs number="2896">good</strongs><em> work </em>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>But when <strongs number="5571">Sanballat</strongs>the <strongs number="2772">Horonite</strongs>, and <strongs number="2900">Tobiah</strongs>the <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs>, the <strongs number="5984">Ammonite</strongs>, and <strongs number="1654">Geshem</strongs>the <strongs number="6163">Arabian</strongs>, <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><em> it </em>, they laughed us to <strongs number="3932">scorn</strongs>, and <strongs number="959 5921">despised</strongs>us, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">What</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1697">thing</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="6213">do</strongs>? will <strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="4775">rebel</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='20'>Then <strongs number="7725 1697">answered</strongs>I them, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto them, The <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">he</strongs>will <strongs number="6743">prosper</strongs>us; therefore <strongs number="587">we</strongs>his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>will <strongs number="6965">arise</strongs>and <strongs number="1129">build</strongs>: but ye have <strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="2506">portion</strongs>, nor <strongs number="6666">right</strongs>, nor <strongs number="2146">memorial</strongs>, in <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
