      <verse number='1'>And <strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs><strongs number="1980">went</strongs>to <strongs number="7927">Shechem</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>to <strongs number="7927">Shechem</strongs>were <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="935">come</strongs>to make him <strongs number="4427 *853">king</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, when <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="5028">Nebat</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">who</strongs><em> was </em>in <strongs number="4714">Egypt</strongs>, <strongs number="834">whither</strongs>he had <strongs number="1272">fled</strongs>from the <strongs number="4480 6440">presence</strongs>of <strongs number="8010">Solomon</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><em> it </em>, that <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs><strongs number="7725">returned</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 4714">Egypt</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And they <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>and <strongs number="7121">called</strongs>him. So <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs>and <strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Thy <strongs number="1">father</strongs>made <strongs number="*853"></strongs>our <strongs number="5923">yoke</strongs><strongs number="7185">grievous</strongs>: <strongs number="6258">now</strongs>therefore <strongs number="7043">ease</strongs>thou somewhat the <strongs number="7186">grievous</strongs><strongs number="4480 5656">servitude</strongs>of thy <strongs number="1">father</strongs>, and his <strongs number="3515">heavy</strongs><strongs number="4480 5923">yoke</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>he <strongs number="5414">put</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>us, and we will <strongs number="5647">serve</strongs>thee. </verse>

      <verse number='12'>So <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs>on the <strongs number="7992">third</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, <strongs number="834">as</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="1696">bade</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, Come <strongs number="7725">again</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>me on the <strongs number="7992">third</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>them <strongs number="7186">roughly</strongs>; and <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs><strongs number="5800">forsook</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="6098">counsel</strongs>of the old <strongs number="2205">men</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And <strongs number="1696 413">answered</strongs>them after the <strongs number="6098">advice</strongs>of the young <strongs number="3206">men</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, My <strongs number="1">father</strongs>made your yoke <strongs number="3513 *853 5923">heavy</strongs>, but <strongs number="589">I</strongs>will <strongs number="3254">add</strongs><strongs number="5921">thereto</strongs>: my <strongs number="1">father</strongs><strongs number="3256">chastised</strongs>you with <strongs number="7752">whips</strongs>, but <strongs number="589">I</strongs><em> will </em><em> chastise </em><em> you </em>with <strongs number="6137">scorpions</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='16'>And when <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><em> saw </em><strongs number="3588">that</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>would <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="8085">hearken</strongs>unto them, the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="7725">answered</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">What</strongs><strongs number="2506">portion</strongs>have we in <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>? and <em> we </em><em> have </em><strongs number="3808">none</strongs><strongs number="5159">inheritance</strongs>in the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs>: every <strongs number="376">man</strongs>to your <strongs number="168">tents</strongs>, O <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: <em> and </em><strongs number="6258">now</strongs>, <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>, <strongs number="7200">see</strongs>to thine own <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>. So <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="1980">went</strongs>to their <strongs number="168">tents</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>But <em> as </em><em> for </em>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>that <strongs number="3427">dwelt</strongs>in the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, <strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs><strongs number="4427">reigned</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Then <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1913">Hadoram</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>the <strongs number="4522">tribute</strongs>; and the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="7275">stoned</strongs>him with <strongs number="68">stones</strongs>, that he <strongs number="4191">died</strongs>. But <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs>made <strongs number="553">speed</strongs>to get him <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>to <em> his </em><strongs number="4818">chariot</strongs>, to <strongs number="5127">flee</strongs>to <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>And <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="6586">rebelled</strongs>against the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
