      <verse number='1'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, <strongs number="834">when</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>was <strongs number="2204">old</strongs>, that he <strongs number="7760">made</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs><strongs number="8199">judges</strongs>over <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>Now the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of his <strongs number="1060">firstborn</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="3100">Joel</strongs>; and the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of his <strongs number="4932">second</strongs>, <strongs number="29">Abiah</strongs>: <em> they </em><em> were </em><strongs number="8199">judges</strongs>in <strongs number="884">Beer</strongs>-sheba. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs><strongs number="1980">walked</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>in his <strongs number="1870">ways</strongs>, but turned <strongs number="5186">aside</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="1215">lucre</strongs>, and <strongs number="3947">took</strongs><strongs number="7810">bribes</strongs>, and <strongs number="5186">perverted</strongs><strongs number="4941">judgment</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Then <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="2205">elders</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>gathered themselves <strongs number="6908">together</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>unto <strongs number="7414">Ramah</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>him, <strongs number="2009">Behold</strongs>, <strongs number="859">thou</strongs>art <strongs number="2204">old</strongs>, and thy <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs><strongs number="1980">walk</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>in thy <strongs number="1870">ways</strongs>: <strongs number="6258">now</strongs><strongs number="7760">make</strongs>us a <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>to <strongs number="8199">judge</strongs>us like <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1471">nations</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>But the <strongs number="1697">thing</strongs><strongs number="3415 5869">displeased</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, <strongs number="834">when</strongs>they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="5414">Give</strongs>us a <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>to <strongs number="8199">judge</strongs>us. And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="6419">prayed</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, <strongs number="8085">Hearken</strongs>unto the <strongs number="6963">voice</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>in <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>they <strongs number="559">say</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>thee: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>they have <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3988">rejected</strongs>thee, <strongs number="3588">but</strongs>they have <strongs number="3988">rejected</strongs>me, that I should not <strongs number="4480 4427">reign</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>According to <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="4639">works</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>they have <strongs number="6213">done</strongs>since the <strongs number="4480 3117">day</strongs>that I brought them <strongs number="5927 *853">up</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 4714">Egypt</strongs>even <strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, wherewith they have <strongs number="5800">forsaken</strongs>me, and <strongs number="5647">served</strongs><strongs number="312">other</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>, <strongs number="3651">so</strongs><strongs number="6213">do</strongs><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>unto thee. </verse>
      <verse number='9'><strongs number="6258">Now</strongs>therefore <strongs number="8085">hearken</strongs>unto their <strongs number="6963">voice</strongs>: <strongs number="389">howbeit</strongs><strongs number="3588">yet</strongs>protest <strongs number="5749 5749">solemnly</strongs>unto them, and <strongs number="5046">show</strongs>them the <strongs number="4941">manner</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>shall <strongs number="4427">reign</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="559">told</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">words</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>that <strongs number="7592">asked</strongs><strongs number="4480 854">of</strongs>him a <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And he <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="2088">This</strongs>will <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>the <strongs number="4941">manner</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>shall <strongs number="4427">reign</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>you: He will <strongs number="3947">take</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>your <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, and <strongs number="7760">appoint</strongs><em> them </em>for himself, for his <strongs number="4818">chariots</strongs>, and <em> to </em><em> be </em>his <strongs number="6571">horsemen</strongs>; and <em> some </em>shall <strongs number="7323">run</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>his <strongs number="4818">chariots</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>And he will <strongs number="7760">appoint</strongs>him <strongs number="8269">captains</strongs>over <strongs number="505">thousands</strongs>, and <strongs number="8269">captains</strongs>over <strongs number="2572">fifties</strongs>; and <em> will </em><em> set </em><em> them </em>to <strongs number="2790">ear</strongs>his <strongs number="2758">ground</strongs>, and to <strongs number="7114">reap</strongs>his <strongs number="7105">harvest</strongs>, and to <strongs number="6213">make</strongs>his <strongs number="3627">instruments</strongs>of <strongs number="4421">war</strongs>, and <strongs number="3627">instruments</strongs>of his <strongs number="7393">chariots</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And he will <strongs number="3947">take</strongs>your <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs><em> to </em><em> be </em><strongs number="7548">confectionaries</strongs>, and <em> to </em><em> be </em><strongs number="2879">cooks</strongs>, and <em> to </em><em> be </em><strongs number="644">bakers</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And he will <strongs number="3947">take</strongs>your <strongs number="7704">fields</strongs>, and your <strongs number="3754">vineyards</strongs>, and your <strongs number="2132">oliveyards</strongs>, <em> even </em>the <strongs number="2896">best</strongs><em> of </em><em> them </em>, and <strongs number="5414">give</strongs><em> them </em>to his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And he will take the <strongs number="6237">tenth</strongs>of your <strongs number="2233">seed</strongs>, and of your <strongs number="3754">vineyards</strongs>, and <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>to his <strongs number="5631">officers</strongs>, and to his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And he will <strongs number="3947">take</strongs>your <strongs number="5650">menservants</strongs>, and your <strongs number="8198">maidservants</strongs>, and your <strongs number="2896">goodliest</strongs>young <strongs number="970">men</strongs>, and your <strongs number="2543">asses</strongs>, and <strongs number="6213">put</strongs><em> them </em>to his <strongs number="4399">work</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>He will take the <strongs number="6237">tenth</strongs>of your <strongs number="6629">sheep</strongs>: and <strongs number="859">ye</strongs>shall <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>And ye shall cry <strongs number="2199">out</strongs>in <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs><strongs number="4480 6440">because</strongs>of your <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>ye shall have <strongs number="977">chosen</strongs>you; and the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>will <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="6030">hear</strongs>you in <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>Nevertheless the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="3985">refused</strongs>to <strongs number="8085">obey</strongs>the <strongs number="6963">voice</strongs>of <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>; and they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">Nay</strongs>; <strongs number="3588 518">but</strongs>we will <strongs number="1961">have</strongs>a <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs>us; </verse>
      <verse number='20'>That <strongs number="587">we</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>may <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>like <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1471">nations</strongs>; and that our <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>may <strongs number="8199">judge</strongs>us, and go <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>us, and <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>our <strongs number="4421">battles</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">words</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, and he <strongs number="1696">rehearsed</strongs>them in the <strongs number="241">ears</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, <strongs number="8085">Hearken</strongs>unto their <strongs number="6963">voice</strongs>, and make them a <strongs number="4427 4428">king</strongs>. And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="1980">Go</strongs>ye every <strongs number="376">man</strongs>unto his <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>. </verse>
