      <verse number='1'>Then <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>to <strongs number="5011">Nob</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="288">Ahimelech</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>: and <strongs number="288">Ahimelech</strongs>was <strongs number="2729">afraid</strongs>at the <strongs number="7125">meeting</strongs>of <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto him, <strongs number="4069">Why</strongs><em> art </em><strongs number="859">thou</strongs><strongs number="905">alone</strongs>, and <strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>thee? </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto <strongs number="288">Ahimelech</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>, The <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>hath <strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs>me a <strongs number="1697">business</strongs>, and hath <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>me, Let <strongs number="408">no</strongs><strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="3045">know</strongs>any <strongs number="3972">thing</strongs>of <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1697">business</strongs><strongs number="834">whereabout</strongs><strongs number="595">I</strongs><strongs number="7971">send</strongs>thee, and <strongs number="834">what</strongs>I have <strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs>thee: and I have <strongs number="3045">appointed</strongs><em> my </em><strongs number="5288">servants</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="6423">such</strongs>and <strongs number="492">such</strongs>a <strongs number="4725">place</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'><strongs number="6258">Now</strongs>therefore <strongs number="4100">what</strongs><strongs number="3426">is</strongs><strongs number="8478">under</strongs>thine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>? <strongs number="5414">give</strongs><em> me </em><strongs number="2568">five</strongs><em> loaves </em><em> of </em><strongs number="3899">bread</strongs>in mine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>, <strongs number="176">or</strongs>what there is <strongs number="4672">present</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <em> There </em><em> is </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="2455">common</strongs><strongs number="3899">bread</strongs><strongs number="413 8478">under</strongs>mine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>, <strongs number="3588 518">but</strongs>there <strongs number="3426">is</strongs><strongs number="6944">hallowed</strongs><strongs number="3899">bread</strongs>; <strongs number="518">if</strongs>the young <strongs number="5288">men</strongs>have kept <strongs number="8104">themselves</strongs>at <strongs number="389">least</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 802">women</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto him, <strongs number="3588 518">Of</strongs>a truth <strongs number="802">women</strongs><em> have </em><em> been </em><strongs number="6113">kept</strongs>from us about these <strongs number="8032">three</strongs><strongs number="8543">days</strongs>, since I came <strongs number="3318">out</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3627">vessels</strongs>of the young <strongs number="5288">men</strongs>are <strongs number="6944">holy</strongs>, and <em> the </em><em> bread </em><em> is </em>in a <strongs number="1870">manner</strongs><strongs number="2455">common</strongs>, <strongs number="637">yea</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">though</strongs>it were <strongs number="6942">sanctified</strongs>this <strongs number="3117">day</strongs>in the <strongs number="3627">vessel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>So the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs><strongs number="5414">gave</strongs>him <strongs number="6944">hallowed</strongs><em> bread </em>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="3899">bread</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="3588 518">but</strongs>the <strongs number="3899 6440">shewbread</strongs>, that was <strongs number="5493">taken</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, to <strongs number="7760">put</strongs><strongs number="2527">hot</strongs><strongs number="3899">bread</strongs>in the <strongs number="3117">day</strongs>when it was taken <strongs number="3947">away</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>Now a certain <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of the <strongs number="4480 5650">servants</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, <strongs number="6113">detained</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>; and his <strongs number="8034">name</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="1673">Doeg</strongs>, an <strongs number="130">Edomite</strongs>, the <strongs number="47">chiefest</strongs>of the <strongs number="7462">herdsmen</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> belonged </em>to <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto <strongs number="288">Ahimelech</strongs>, And is <strongs number="3426">there</strongs><strongs number="371">not</strongs><strongs number="6311">here</strongs><strongs number="8478">under</strongs>thine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs><strongs number="2595">spear</strongs><strongs number="176">or</strongs><strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>? <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>I have <strongs number="1571 3808">neither</strongs><strongs number="3947">brought</strongs>my <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs><strongs number="1571">nor</strongs>my <strongs number="3627">weapons</strongs><strongs number="3027">with</strongs>me, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="1697">business</strongs><strongs number="1961">required</strongs><strongs number="5169">haste</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, The <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>of <strongs number="1555">Goliath</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistine</strongs>, <strongs number="834">whom</strongs>thou <strongs number="5221">slewest</strongs>in the <strongs number="6010">valley</strongs>of <strongs number="425">Elah</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">it</strongs><em> is </em><em> here </em><strongs number="3874">wrapped</strongs>in a <strongs number="8071">cloth</strongs><strongs number="310">behind</strongs>the <strongs number="646">ephod</strongs>: <strongs number="518">if</strongs>thou wilt <strongs number="3947">take</strongs>that, <strongs number="3947">take</strongs><em> it </em>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><em> there </em><em> is </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="312">other</strongs><strongs number="2108">save</strongs>that <strongs number="2088">here</strongs>.       <verse number='10'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="6965">arose</strongs>, and <strongs number="1272">fled</strongs><strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>for fear <strongs number="4480 6440">of</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">went</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="397">Achish</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="1661">Gath</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And the <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>of <strongs number="397">Achish</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>him, <em> Is </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>? did they <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>sing one to <strongs number="6030">another</strongs>of <strongs number="2088">him</strongs>in <strongs number="4246">dances</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>hath <strongs number="5221">slain</strongs>his <strongs number="505">thousands</strongs>, and <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>his ten <strongs number="7233">thousands</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='12'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>laid <strongs number="7760">up</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="1697">words</strongs>in his <strongs number="3824">heart</strongs>, and was <strongs number="3966">sore</strongs><strongs number="3372">afraid</strongs><strongs number="4480 6440">of</strongs><strongs number="397">Achish</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="1661">Gath</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And he <strongs number="8138">changed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="2940">behavior</strongs><strongs number="5869">before</strongs>them, and feigned himself <strongs number="1984">mad</strongs>in their <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs>, and <strongs number="8427">scrabbled</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>the <strongs number="1817">doors</strongs>of the <strongs number="8179">gate</strongs>, and let his <strongs number="7388">spittle</strongs>fall <strongs number="3381">down</strongs><strongs number="413">upon</strongs>his <strongs number="2206">beard</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="397">Achish</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">Lo</strongs>, ye <strongs number="7200">see</strongs>the <strongs number="376">man</strongs>is <strongs number="7696">mad</strongs>: <strongs number="4100">wherefore</strongs><em> then </em>have ye <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>him <strongs number="413">to</strongs>me? </verse>
      <verse number='15'>Have <strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="2638">need</strongs>of mad <strongs number="7696">men</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">that</strongs>ye have <strongs number="935">brought</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><em> fellow </em>to play the mad <strongs number="7696">man</strongs>in my <strongs number="5921">presence</strongs>? shall <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><em> fellow </em><strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>my <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>? </verse>
