      <verse number='2'>And he had <strongs number="8147">two</strongs><strongs number="802">wives</strongs>; the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="259">one</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>, and the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="8145">other</strongs><strongs number="6444">Peninnah</strongs>: and <strongs number="6444">Peninnah</strongs><strongs number="1961">had</strongs><strongs number="3206">children</strongs>, but <strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>had <strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="3206">children</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="1931">this</strongs><strongs number="376">man</strongs>went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>out of his <strongs number="4480 5892">city</strongs><strongs number="4480 3117 3117">yearly</strongs>to <strongs number="7812">worship</strongs>and to <strongs number="2076">sacrifice</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>of <strongs number="6635">hosts</strongs>in <strongs number="7887">Shiloh</strongs>. And the <strongs number="8147">two</strongs><strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>of <strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs>, <strongs number="2652">Hophni</strongs>and <strongs number="6372">Phinehas</strongs>, the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <em> were </em><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And when the <strongs number="3117">time</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs>that <strongs number="511">Elkanah</strongs><strongs number="2076">offered</strongs>, he <strongs number="5414">gave</strongs>to <strongs number="6444">Peninnah</strongs>his <strongs number="802">wife</strongs>, and to <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>her <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>and her <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>, <strongs number="4490">portions</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='5'>But unto <strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>he <strongs number="5414">gave</strongs><strongs number="259">a</strongs><strongs number="639">worthy</strongs><strongs number="4490">portion</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>he <strongs number="157">loved</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>: but the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>had shut <strongs number="5462">up</strongs>her <strongs number="7358">womb</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And her <strongs number="6869">adversary</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs><strongs number="3707">provoked</strongs>her <strongs number="3708">sore</strongs>, for <strongs number="5668">to</strongs>make her <strongs number="7481">fret</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>had shut <strongs number="5462 1157">up</strongs>her <strongs number="7358">womb</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And <em> as </em>he <strongs number="6213">did</strongs><strongs number="3651">so</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>by <strongs number="8141">year</strongs>, <strongs number="4480 1767">when</strongs>she went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>to the <strongs number="4480 1004">house</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="3651">so</strongs>she <strongs number="3707">provoked</strongs>her; therefore she <strongs number="1058">wept</strongs>, and did <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="398">eat</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="511">Elkanah</strongs>her <strongs number="376">husband</strongs>to her, <strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">why</strongs><strongs number="1058">weepest</strongs>thou? and <strongs number="4100">why</strongs><strongs number="398">eatest</strongs>thou <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>? and <strongs number="4100">why</strongs>is thy <strongs number="3824">heart</strongs><strongs number="7489">grieved</strongs>? <em> am </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="595">I</strongs><strongs number="2896">better</strongs>to thee than <strongs number="4480 6235">ten</strongs><strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='9'>So <strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>rose <strongs number="6965">up</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>they had <strongs number="398">eaten</strongs>in <strongs number="7887">Shiloh</strongs>, and <strongs number="310">after</strongs>they had <strongs number="8354">drunk</strongs>. Now <strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs><strongs number="3427">sat</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>a <strongs number="3678">seat</strongs><strongs number="5921">by</strongs>a <strongs number="4201">post</strongs>of the <strongs number="1964">temple</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And <strongs number="1931">she</strongs><em> was </em>in <strongs number="4751">bitterness</strongs>of <strongs number="5315">soul</strongs>, and <strongs number="6419">prayed</strongs><strongs number="5921">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and wept <strongs number="1058 1058">sore</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And she <strongs number="5087">vowed</strongs>a <strongs number="5088">vow</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>of <strongs number="6635">hosts</strongs>, <strongs number="518">if</strongs>thou wilt indeed <strongs number="7200 7200">look</strongs>on the <strongs number="6040">affliction</strongs>of thine <strongs number="519">handmaid</strongs>, and <strongs number="2142">remember</strongs>me, and <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7911">forget</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>thine <strongs number="519">handmaid</strongs>, but wilt <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>unto thine <strongs number="519">handmaid</strongs>a <strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="2233">child</strongs>, then I will <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>him unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="3117">days</strongs>of his <strongs number="2416">life</strongs>, and there shall <strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="4177">razor</strongs><strongs number="5927">come</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>his <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='13'>Now <strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">she</strongs><strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs><strongs number="5921">in</strongs>her <strongs number="3820">heart</strongs>; <strongs number="7535">only</strongs>her <strongs number="8193">lips</strongs><strongs number="5128">moved</strongs>, but her <strongs number="6963">voice</strongs>was <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="8085">heard</strongs>: therefore <strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs><strongs number="2803">thought</strongs>she had been <strongs number="7910">drunken</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And <strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>her, <strongs number="5704">How</strongs><strongs number="4970">long</strongs>wilt thou be <strongs number="7937">drunken</strongs>? put <strongs number="5493">away</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>thy <strongs number="3196">wine</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">from</strongs>thee. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And <strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">No</strongs>, my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>, I <em> am </em>a <strongs number="802">woman</strongs>of a <strongs number="7186">sorrowful</strongs><strongs number="7307">spirit</strongs>: <strongs number="595">I</strongs>have <strongs number="8354">drunk</strongs><strongs number="3808">neither</strongs><strongs number="3196">wine</strongs>nor strong <strongs number="7941">drink</strongs>, but have poured <strongs number="8210">out</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>my <strongs number="5315">soul</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='17'>Then <strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="1980">Go</strongs>in <strongs number="7965">peace</strongs>: and the <strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5414">grant</strongs><em> thee </em><strongs number="*853"></strongs>thy <strongs number="7596">petition</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>thou hast <strongs number="7592">asked</strongs><strongs number="4480 5973">of</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>And she <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, Let thine <strongs number="8198">handmaid</strongs><strongs number="4672">find</strongs><strongs number="2580">grace</strongs>in thy <strongs number="5869">sight</strongs>. So the <strongs number="802">woman</strongs><strongs number="1980">went</strongs>her <strongs number="1870">way</strongs>, and did <strongs number="398">eat</strongs>, and her <strongs number="6440">countenance</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="5750">more</strongs><em> sad </em>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>And they rose up in the morning <strongs number="7925 1242">early</strongs>, and <strongs number="7812">worshiped</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="7725">returned</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>their <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>to <strongs number="7414">Ramah</strongs>: and <strongs number="511">Elkanah</strongs><strongs number="3045">knew</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>his <strongs number="802">wife</strongs>; and the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="2142">remembered</strongs>her. </verse>
      <verse number='20'>Wherefore it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, when the <strongs number="3117">time</strongs>was <strongs number="8622">come</strongs>about after <strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>had <strongs number="2029">conceived</strongs>, that she <strongs number="3205">bore</strongs>a <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>, and <strongs number="7121">called</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="8034">name</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, <em> saying </em>, <strongs number="3588">Because</strongs>I have <strongs number="7592">asked</strongs>him of the <strongs number="4480 3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>And the <strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="511">Elkanah</strongs>, and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>his <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>, went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>to <strongs number="2076">offer</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3117">yearly</strongs><strongs number="2077">sacrifice</strongs>, and his <strongs number="5088">vow</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>But <strongs number="2584">Hannah</strongs>went not <strongs number="5927 3808">up</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>she <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto her <strongs number="376">husband</strongs>, <em> I </em><em> will </em><em> not </em><em> go </em><em> up </em><strongs number="5704">until</strongs>the <strongs number="5288">child</strongs>be <strongs number="1580">weaned</strongs>, and <em> then </em>I will <strongs number="935">bring</strongs>him, that he may <strongs number="7200">appear</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="3427">abide</strongs><strongs number="5704 5769">forever</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='23'>And <strongs number="511">Elkanah</strongs>her <strongs number="376">husband</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto her, <strongs number="6213">Do</strongs>what <strongs number="5869">seemeth</strongs>thee <strongs number="2896">good</strongs>; <strongs number="3427">tarry</strongs><strongs number="5704">until</strongs>thou have <strongs number="1580">weaned</strongs>him; <strongs number="389">only</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="6965">establish</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="1697">word</strongs>. So the <strongs number="802">woman</strongs><strongs number="3427">abode</strongs>, and gave her son <strongs number="3243 *853 1121">suck</strongs><strongs number="5704">until</strongs>she <strongs number="1580">weaned</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='24'>And <strongs number="834">when</strongs>she had <strongs number="1580">weaned</strongs>him, she took him <strongs number="5927">up</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>her, with <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="6499">bullocks</strongs>, and <strongs number="259">one</strongs><strongs number="374">ephah</strongs>of <strongs number="7058">flour</strongs>, and a <strongs number="5035">bottle</strongs>of <strongs number="3196">wine</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>him unto the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>in <strongs number="7887">Shiloh</strongs>: and the <strongs number="5288">child</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="5288">young</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='25'>And they <strongs number="7819">slew</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>a <strongs number="6499">bullock</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5288">child</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='26'>And she <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="994">Oh</strongs>my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>, <em> as </em>thy <strongs number="5315">soul</strongs><strongs number="2416">liveth</strongs>, my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>, <strongs number="589">I</strongs><em> am </em>the <strongs number="802">woman</strongs>that <strongs number="5324">stood</strongs><strongs number="5973">by</strongs>thee <strongs number="2088">here</strongs>, <strongs number="6419">praying</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
