      <verse number='2'>That they gathered <strongs number="6908">themselves</strongs><strongs number="3162">together</strongs>, to <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs><strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>and <strongs number="5973">with</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, with <strongs number="259">one</strongs><strongs number="6310">accord</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And when the <strongs number="3427">inhabitants</strongs>of <strongs number="1391">Gibeon</strongs><strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="834">what</strongs><strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>had <strongs number="6213">done</strongs>unto <strongs number="3405">Jericho</strongs>and to <strongs number="5857">Ai</strongs>, </verse>

      <verse number='15'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="6213">made</strongs><strongs number="7965">peace</strongs>with them, and <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>a <strongs number="1285">league</strongs>with them, to let them <strongs number="2421">live</strongs>: and the <strongs number="5387">princes</strongs>of the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs><strongs number="7650">swore</strongs>unto them. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>at the <strongs number="4480 7097">end</strongs>of <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="3117">days</strongs><strongs number="310 834">after</strongs>they had <strongs number="3772">made</strongs>a <strongs number="1285">league</strongs>with them, that they <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="413">their</strongs><strongs number="7138">neighbors</strongs>, and <em> that </em><strongs number="1992">they</strongs><strongs number="3427">dwelt</strongs><strongs number="7130">among</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5265">journeyed</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>their <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>on the <strongs number="7992">third</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>. Now their <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="1391">Gibeon</strongs>, and <strongs number="3716">Chephirah</strongs>, and <strongs number="881">Beeroth</strongs>, and <strongs number="7157">Kirjath</strongs>-jearim. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5221">smote</strongs>them <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>the <strongs number="5387">princes</strongs>of the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs>had <strongs number="7650">sworn</strongs>unto them by the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. And <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs><strongs number="3885">murmured</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="5387">princes</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>But <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5387">princes</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs>, <strongs number="587">We</strongs>have <strongs number="7650">sworn</strongs>unto them by the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: <strongs number="6258">now</strongs>therefore we <strongs number="3201">may</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5060">touch</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='20'><strongs number="2063">This</strongs>we will <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>to them; we will even let them <strongs number="2421 *853">live</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">lest</strongs><strongs number="7110">wrath</strongs><strongs number="1961">be</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>us, because <strongs number="5921">of</strongs>the <strongs number="7621">oath</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>we <strongs number="7650">swore</strongs>unto them. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>And the <strongs number="5387">princes</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>them, Let them <strongs number="2421">live</strongs>; but let them <strongs number="1961">be</strongs><strongs number="2404">hewers</strongs>of <strongs number="6086">wood</strongs>and <strongs number="7579">drawers</strongs>of <strongs number="4325">water</strongs>unto <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs>; <strongs number="834">as</strongs>the <strongs number="5387">princes</strongs>had <strongs number="1696">promised</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="7121">called</strongs>for them, and he <strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>them, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">Wherefore</strongs>have ye <strongs number="7411">beguiled</strongs>us, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="587">We</strongs><em> are </em><strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="7350">far</strongs><strongs number="4480">from</strongs>you; when <strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="3427">dwell</strongs><strongs number="7130">among</strongs>us? </verse>

      <verse number='27'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="5414">made</strongs>them <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs><strongs number="2404">hewers</strongs>of <strongs number="6086">wood</strongs>and <strongs number="7579">drawers</strongs>of <strongs number="4325">water</strongs>for the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs>, and for the <strongs number="4196">altar</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, even <strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, <strongs number="413">in</strongs>the <strongs number="4725">place</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>he should <strongs number="977">choose</strongs>. </verse>
