      <verse number='1'><strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs>hath the <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs><strongs number="3069">GOD</strongs><strongs number="7200">showed</strongs>unto me; and, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, he <strongs number="3335">formed</strongs><strongs number="1462">grasshoppers</strongs>in the <strongs number="8462">beginning</strongs>of the shooting <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>of the latter <strongs number="3954">growth</strongs>; and, <strongs number="2009">lo</strongs>, <em> it </em><em> was </em>the latter <strongs number="3954">growth</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="1488">mowings</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, <em> that </em><strongs number="518">when</strongs>they had made an <strongs number="3615">end</strongs>of <strongs number="398">eating</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="6212">grass</strongs>of the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>, then I <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, O <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs><strongs number="3069">GOD</strongs>, <strongs number="5545">forgive</strongs>, I beseech <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>: by <strongs number="4310">whom</strongs>shall <strongs number="3290">Jacob</strongs><strongs number="6965">arise</strongs>? <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="1931">he</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="6996">small</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>The <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5162">repented</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs>: It shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="1961">be</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'><strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs>hath the <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs><strongs number="3069">GOD</strongs><strongs number="7200">showed</strongs>unto me: and, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, the <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs><strongs number="3069">GOD</strongs><strongs number="7121">called</strongs>to <strongs number="7378">contend</strongs>by <strongs number="784">fire</strongs>, and it <strongs number="398">devoured</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="7227">great</strongs><strongs number="8415">deep</strongs>, and did eat <strongs number="398">up</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>a <strongs number="2506">part</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>I, O <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs><strongs number="3069">GOD</strongs>, <strongs number="2308">cease</strongs>, I beseech <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>: by <strongs number="4310">whom</strongs>shall <strongs number="3290">Jacob</strongs><strongs number="6965">arise</strongs>? <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="1931">he</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="6996">small</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>The <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5162">repented</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs>: <strongs number="1931">This</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="1961">be</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs><strongs number="3069">GOD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'><strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs>he <strongs number="7200">showed</strongs>me: and, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, the <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs><strongs number="5324">stood</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>a <strongs number="2346">wall</strongs><em> made </em>by a plumb <strongs number="594">line</strongs>, with a plumb <strongs number="594">line</strongs>in his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>me, <strongs number="5986">Amos</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">what</strongs><strongs number="7200">seest</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs>? And I <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, A plumb <strongs number="594">line</strongs>. Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs>the <strongs number="136">Lord</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">Behold</strongs>, I will <strongs number="7760">set</strongs>a plumb <strongs number="594">line</strongs>in the <strongs number="7130">midst</strongs>of my <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: I will <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3254">again</strongs><strongs number="5674">pass</strongs>by them any <strongs number="5750">more</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And the high <strongs number="1116">places</strongs>of <strongs number="3446">Isaac</strongs>shall be <strongs number="8074">desolate</strongs>, and the <strongs number="4720">sanctuaries</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>shall be laid <strongs number="2717">waste</strongs>; and I will <strongs number="6965">rise</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>with the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>Then <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>of <strongs number="1008">Bethel</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="5986">Amos</strongs>hath <strongs number="7194">conspired</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>thee in the <strongs number="7130">midst</strongs>of the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>is not <strongs number="3201 3808">able</strongs>to <strongs number="3557">bear</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>his <strongs number="1697">words</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs><strongs number="3541">thus</strongs><strongs number="5986">Amos</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs>, <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>shall <strongs number="4191">die</strongs>by the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>, and <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>shall surely be led away <strongs number="1540 1540">captive</strongs>out <strongs number="4480 5921">of</strongs>their own <strongs number="127">land</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>Also <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="5986">Amos</strongs>, O thou <strongs number="2374">seer</strongs>, <strongs number="1980">go</strongs>, flee thee <strongs number="1272">away</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, and <strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="398">eat</strongs><strongs number="3899">bread</strongs>, and <strongs number="5012">prophesy</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='13'>But <strongs number="5012">prophesy</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3254">again</strongs>any <strongs number="5750">more</strongs>at <strongs number="1008">Bethel</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="1931">it</strongs><em> is </em>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="4720">chapel</strongs>, and <strongs number="1931">it</strongs><em> is </em>the <strongs number="4467">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="1004">court</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Then <strongs number="6030">answered</strongs><strongs number="5986">Amos</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>, <strongs number="595">I</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="595">I</strongs>a <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs>'s <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">but</strongs><strongs number="595">I</strongs><em> was </em>a <strongs number="951">herdsman</strongs>, and a <strongs number="1103">gatherer</strongs>of sycamore <strongs number="8256">fruit</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="3947">took</strongs>me as I <strongs number="4480 310">followed</strongs>the <strongs number="6629">flock</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3068">Lord</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>me, <strongs number="1980">Go</strongs>, <strongs number="5012">prophesy</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>my <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'><strongs number="6258">Now</strongs>therefore <strongs number="8085">hear</strongs>thou the <strongs number="1697">word</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>: <strongs number="859">Thou</strongs><strongs number="559">sayest</strongs>, <strongs number="5012">Prophesy</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and <strongs number="5197">drop</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><em> thy </em><em> word </em><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="3446">Isaac</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'><strongs number="3651">Therefore</strongs><strongs number="3541">thus</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>; Thy <strongs number="802">wife</strongs>shall be a <strongs number="2181">harlot</strongs>in the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>, and thy <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>and thy <strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>shall <strongs number="5307">fall</strongs>by the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>, and thy <strongs number="127">land</strongs>shall be <strongs number="2505">divided</strongs>by <strongs number="2256">line</strongs>; and <strongs number="859">thou</strongs>shalt <strongs number="4191">die</strongs><strongs number="5921">in</strongs>a <strongs number="2931">polluted</strongs><strongs number="127">land</strongs>: and <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>shall surely go into <strongs number="1540 1540">captivity</strongs>forth <strongs number="4480 5921">of</strongs>his <strongs number="127">land</strongs>. </verse>
