      <verse number='1'>And <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5712">congregation</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5265">journeyed</strongs>from the <strongs number="4480 4057">wilderness</strongs>of <strongs number="5512">Sin</strongs>, after their <strongs number="4550">journeys</strongs>, according <strongs number="5921">to</strongs>the <strongs number="6310">commandment</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="2583">pitched</strongs>in <strongs number="7508">Rephidim</strongs>: and <em> there </em><em> was </em><strongs number="369">no</strongs><strongs number="4325">water</strongs>for the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>to <strongs number="8354">drink</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>Wherefore the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>did <strongs number="7378">chide</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="5414">Give</strongs>us <strongs number="4325">water</strongs>that we may <strongs number="8354">drink</strongs>. And <strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto them, <strongs number="4100">Why</strongs><strongs number="7378">chide</strongs>ye <strongs number="5978">with</strongs>me? <strongs number="4100">wherefore</strongs>do ye <strongs number="5254">tempt</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="6770">thirsted</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>for <strongs number="4325">water</strongs>; and the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="3885">murmured</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">Wherefore</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><em> that </em>thou hast brought us <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 4714">Egypt</strongs>, to <strongs number="4191">kill</strongs>us and our <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>and our <strongs number="4735">cattle</strongs>with <strongs number="6772">thirst</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And <strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs><strongs number="6817">cried</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">What</strongs>shall I <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>unto <strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="5971">people</strongs>? they be <strongs number="4592">almost</strongs><strongs number="5750">ready</strongs>to <strongs number="5619">stone</strongs>me. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, Go <strongs number="5674">on</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, and <strongs number="3947">take</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>thee of the <strongs number="4480 2205">elders</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>; and thy <strongs number="4294">rod</strongs>, <strongs number="834">wherewith</strongs>thou <strongs number="5221">smotest</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="2975">river</strongs>, <strongs number="3947">take</strongs>in thine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>, and <strongs number="1980">go</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'><strongs number="2009">Behold</strongs>, I will <strongs number="5975">stand</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>thee <strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="6697">rock</strongs>in <strongs number="2722">Horeb</strongs>; and thou shalt <strongs number="5221">smite</strongs>the <strongs number="6697">rock</strongs>, and there shall <strongs number="3318">come</strongs><strongs number="4325">water</strongs>out <strongs number="4480">of</strongs>it, that the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>may <strongs number="8354">drink</strongs>.       <verse number='7'>And he <strongs number="7121">called</strongs>the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="4725">place</strongs><strongs number="4532">Massah</strongs>, and <strongs number="4809">Meribah</strongs>, because <strongs number="5921">of</strongs>the <strongs number="7379">chiding</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and <strongs number="5921">because</strongs>they <strongs number="5254">tempted</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="3426">Is</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="7130">among</strongs>us, <strongs number="518">or</strongs><strongs number="369">not</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='8'>Then <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="6002">Amalek</strongs>, and <strongs number="3898">fought</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>in <strongs number="7508">Rephidim</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And <strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>, Choose us <strongs number="977">out</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>, and go <strongs number="3318">out</strongs>, <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs>with <strongs number="6002">Amalek</strongs>: <strongs number="4279">tomorrow</strongs><strongs number="595">I</strongs>will <strongs number="5324">stand</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>the <strongs number="7218">top</strongs>of the <strongs number="1389">hill</strongs>with the <strongs number="4294">rod</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>in mine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>So <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="6213">did</strongs><strongs number="834">as</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>had <strongs number="559">said</strongs>to him, and <strongs number="3898">fought</strongs>with <strongs number="6002">Amalek</strongs>: and <strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, <strongs number="175">Aaron</strongs>, and <strongs number="2354">Hur</strongs>went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>to the <strongs number="7218">top</strongs>of the <strongs number="1389">hill</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, <strongs number="834">when</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>held <strongs number="7311">up</strongs>his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>, that <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="1396">prevailed</strongs>: and <strongs number="834">when</strongs>he let <strongs number="5117">down</strongs>his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>, <strongs number="6002">Amalek</strongs><strongs number="1396">prevailed</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>But <strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>' <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs><em> were </em><strongs number="3515">heavy</strongs>; and they <strongs number="3947">took</strongs>a <strongs number="68">stone</strongs>, and <strongs number="7760">put</strongs><em> it </em><strongs number="8478">under</strongs>him, and he <strongs number="3427">sat</strongs><strongs number="5921">thereon</strongs>; and <strongs number="175">Aaron</strongs>and <strongs number="2354">Hur</strongs>stayed <strongs number="8551">up</strongs>his <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs>, the <strongs number="259">one</strongs>on the one <strongs number="4480 2088">side</strongs>, and the <strongs number="259">other</strongs>on the other <strongs number="4480 2088">side</strongs>; and his <strongs number="3027">hands</strongs><strongs number="1961">were</strongs><strongs number="530">steady</strongs><strongs number="5704">until</strongs>the going <strongs number="935">down</strongs>of the <strongs number="8121">sun</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs><strongs number="2522">discomfited</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="6002">Amalek</strongs>and his <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>with the <strongs number="6310">edge</strongs>of the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, <strongs number="3789">Write</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs><em> for </em>a <strongs number="2146">memorial</strongs>in a <strongs number="5612">book</strongs>, and <strongs number="7760">rehearse</strongs><em> it </em>in the <strongs number="241">ears</strongs>of <strongs number="3091">Joshua</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>I will utterly put <strongs number="4229 4229">out</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="2143">remembrance</strongs>of <strongs number="6002">Amalek</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 8478">under</strongs><strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And <strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs><strongs number="1129">built</strongs>an <strongs number="4196">altar</strongs>, and <strongs number="7121">called</strongs>the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of it <strongs number="3071">Jehovah</strongs>-nissi: </verse>
      <verse number='16'>For he <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">Because</strongs>the <strongs number="3050">LORD</strongs>hath <strongs number="3027 5921 3676">sworn</strongs><em> that </em>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><em> will </em><em> have </em><strongs number="4421">war</strongs>with <strongs number="6002">Amalek</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 1755">generation</strongs>to <strongs number="1755">generation</strongs>. </verse>
