      <verse number='2'><em> That </em>in <strongs number="1992">those</strongs><strongs number="3117">days</strongs>, when the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="325">Ahasuerus</strongs><strongs number="3427">sat</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>the <strongs number="3678">throne</strongs>of his <strongs number="4438">kingdom</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> was </em>in <strongs number="7800">Shushan</strongs>the <strongs number="1002">palace</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='3'>In the <strongs number="7969">third</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>of his <strongs number="4427">reign</strongs>, he <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>a <strongs number="4960">feast</strongs>unto <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>his <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>and his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>; the <strongs number="2428">power</strongs>of <strongs number="6539">Persia</strongs>and <strongs number="4074">Media</strongs>, the <strongs number="6579">nobles</strongs>and <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>of the <strongs number="4082">provinces</strongs>, <em> being </em><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>him: </verse>

      <verse number='6'><em> Where </em><em> were </em><strongs number="2353">white</strongs>, <strongs number="3768">green</strongs>, and <strongs number="8504">blue</strongs>, <em> hangings </em>, <strongs number="270">fastened</strongs>with <strongs number="2256">cords</strongs>of fine <strongs number="948">linen</strongs>and <strongs number="713">purple</strongs><strongs number="5921">to</strongs><strongs number="3701">silver</strongs><strongs number="1550">rings</strongs>and <strongs number="5982">pillars</strongs>of <strongs number="8336">marble</strongs>: the <strongs number="4296">beds</strongs><em> were </em><em> of </em><strongs number="2091">gold</strongs>and <strongs number="3701">silver</strongs>, <strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>a <strongs number="7531">pavement</strongs>of <strongs number="923">red</strongs>, and <strongs number="8336">blue</strongs>, and <strongs number="1858">white</strongs>, and black <strongs number="5508">marble</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And they gave <em> them </em><strongs number="8248">drink</strongs>in <strongs number="3627">vessels</strongs>of <strongs number="2091">gold</strongs>, (the <strongs number="3627">vessels</strongs>being <strongs number="8138">diverse</strongs>one from <strongs number="4480 3627">another</strongs>,) and <strongs number="4438">royal</strongs><strongs number="3196">wine</strongs>in <strongs number="7227">abundance</strongs>, according to the <strongs number="3027">state</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And the <strongs number="8360">drinking</strongs><em> was </em>according to the <strongs number="1881">law</strongs>; <strongs number="369">none</strongs>did <strongs number="597">compel</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="3651">so</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>had <strongs number="3245">appointed</strongs><strongs number="5921">to</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="7227">officers</strongs>of his <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>, that they should <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>according to every <strongs number="376 376">man</strongs>'s <strongs number="7522">pleasure</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='10'>On the <strongs number="7637">seventh</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, when the <strongs number="3820">heart</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>was <strongs number="2895">merry</strongs>with <strongs number="3196">wine</strongs>, he <strongs number="559">commanded</strongs><strongs number="4104">Mehuman</strongs>, <strongs number="968">Biztha</strongs>, <strongs number="2726">Harbona</strongs>, <strongs number="903">Bigtha</strongs>, and <strongs number="5">Abagtha</strongs>, <strongs number="2242">Zethar</strongs>, and <strongs number="3752">Carcas</strongs>, the <strongs number="7651">seven</strongs><strongs number="5631">chamberlains</strongs>that <strongs number="8334">served</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>in the <strongs number="6440">presence</strongs>of <strongs number="325">Ahasuerus</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='11'>To <strongs number="935">bring</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2060">Vashti</strongs>the <strongs number="4436">queen</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>with the <strongs number="3804">crown</strongs><strongs number="4438">royal</strongs>, to <strongs number="7200">show</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>and the <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>her <strongs number="3308">beauty</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="1931">she</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="2896">fair</strongs>to look <strongs number="4758">on</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>But the <strongs number="4436">queen</strongs><strongs number="2060">Vashti</strongs><strongs number="3985">refused</strongs>to <strongs number="935">come</strongs>at the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="1697">commandment</strongs><strongs number="834 3027">by</strongs><em> his </em><strongs number="5631">chamberlains</strongs>: therefore was the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="7107">wroth</strongs>, and his <strongs number="2534">anger</strongs><strongs number="1197">burned</strongs>in him. </verse>

      <verse number='14'>And the <strongs number="7138">next</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>him <em> was </em><strongs number="3771">Carshena</strongs>, <strongs number="8369">Shethar</strongs>, <strongs number="133">Admatha</strongs>, <strongs number="8659">Tarshish</strongs>, <strongs number="4825">Meres</strongs>, <strongs number="4826">Marsena</strongs>, <em> and </em><strongs number="4462">Memucan</strongs>, the <strongs number="7651">seven</strongs><strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>of <strongs number="6539">Persia</strongs>and <strongs number="4074">Media</strongs>, which <strongs number="7200">saw</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="6440">face</strongs>, <em> and </em>which <strongs number="3427">sat</strongs>the <strongs number="7223">first</strongs>in the <strongs number="4438">kingdom</strongs>;) </verse>
      <verse number='15'><strongs number="4100">What</strongs>shall we <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>unto the <strongs number="4436">queen</strongs><strongs number="2060">Vashti</strongs>according to <strongs number="1881">law</strongs>, <strongs number="5921 834">because</strongs>she hath <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="6213">performed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3982">commandment</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="325">Ahasuerus</strongs><strongs number="3027">by</strongs>the <strongs number="5631">chamberlains</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And <strongs number="4462">Memucan</strongs><strongs number="559">answered</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>and the <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>, <strongs number="2060">Vashti</strongs>the <strongs number="4436">queen</strongs>hath <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>done <strongs number="5753">wrong</strongs><strongs number="5921">to</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="905">only</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">but</strongs>also <strongs number="5921">to</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>, and <strongs number="5921">to</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> are </em>in <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="4082">provinces</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="325">Ahasuerus</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'><strongs number="3588">For</strongs><em> this </em><strongs number="1697">deed</strongs>of the <strongs number="4436">queen</strongs>shall come <strongs number="3318">abroad</strongs><strongs number="5921">unto</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="802">women</strongs>, so that they shall <strongs number="959">despise</strongs>their <strongs number="1167">husbands</strongs>in their <strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>, when it shall be <strongs number="559">reported</strongs>, The <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="325">Ahasuerus</strongs><strongs number="559">commanded</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="2060">Vashti</strongs>the <strongs number="4436">queen</strongs>to be brought <strongs number="935">in</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>him, but she <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'><em> Likewise </em>shall the <strongs number="8282">ladies</strongs>of <strongs number="6539">Persia</strongs>and <strongs number="4074">Media</strongs><strongs number="559">say</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>unto <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="8269">princes</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>have heard <strongs number="8085">of</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1697">deed</strongs>of the <strongs number="4436">queen</strongs>. Thus <em> shall </em><em> there </em><em> arise </em>too <strongs number="1767">much</strongs><strongs number="963">contempt</strongs>and <strongs number="7110">wrath</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'><strongs number="518">If</strongs>it <strongs number="2895 5921">please</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, let there <strongs number="3318">go</strongs>a <strongs number="4438">royal</strongs><strongs number="1697">commandment</strongs><strongs number="4480 6440">from</strongs>him, and let it be <strongs number="3789">written</strongs>among the <strongs number="1881">laws</strongs>of the <strongs number="6539">Persians</strongs>and the <strongs number="4074">Medes</strongs>, that it be <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5674">altered</strongs>, <strongs number="834">That</strongs><strongs number="2060">Vashti</strongs><strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs>more <strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="325">Ahasuerus</strongs>; and let the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="5414">give</strongs>her royal <strongs number="4438">estate</strongs>unto <strongs number="7468">another</strongs>that is <strongs number="2896">better</strongs><strongs number="4480">than</strongs>she. </verse>
      <verse number='20'>And when the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="6599">decree</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>he shall <strongs number="6213">make</strongs>shall be <strongs number="8085">published</strongs>throughout <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>his <strongs number="4438">empire</strongs>, ( <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="1931">it</strongs>is <strongs number="7227">great</strongs>,) <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="802">wives</strongs>shall <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>to their <strongs number="1167">husbands</strongs><strongs number="3366">honor</strongs>, both to <strongs number="4480 1419">great</strongs>and <strongs number="6996">small</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='22'>For he <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="5612">letters</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="4082">provinces</strongs>, <strongs number="413">into</strongs>every <strongs number="4082 4082">province</strongs>according to the <strongs number="3791">writing</strongs>thereof, and <strongs number="413">to</strongs>every <strongs number="5971 5971">people</strongs>after their <strongs number="3956">language</strongs>, that <strongs number="3605">every</strongs><strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="1961">should</strongs>bear <strongs number="8323">rule</strongs>in his own <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>, and that <em> it </em>should be <strongs number="1696">published</strongs>according to the <strongs number="3956">language</strongs>of every <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
