      <verse number='1'>Now in the <strongs number="8083 6240">eighteenth</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>of <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>began <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs>to <strongs number="4427">reign</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>He <strongs number="4427">reigned</strongs><strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>in <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. His <strongs number="517">mother</strongs>'s <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>also <em> was </em><strongs number="4322">Michaiah</strongs>the <strongs number="1323">daughter</strongs>of <strongs number="222">Uriel</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs><strongs number="1390">Gibeah</strongs>. And there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="4421">war</strongs><strongs number="996">between</strongs><strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs>and <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs><strongs number="631">set</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>in array with an <strongs number="2428">army</strongs>of valiant <strongs number="1368">men</strongs>of <strongs number="4421">war</strongs>, <em> even </em><strongs number="702">four</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><strongs number="977">chosen</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>: <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>also set the battle in <strongs number="6186 4421">array</strongs><strongs number="5973">against</strongs>him with <strongs number="8083">eight</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><strongs number="977">chosen</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>, <em> being </em>mighty <strongs number="1368">men</strongs>of <strongs number="2428">valor</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>And <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs>stood <strongs number="6965">up</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">upon</strongs><strongs number="2022">mount</strongs><strongs number="6787">Zemaraim</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> is </em>in <strongs number="2022">mount</strongs><strongs number="669">Ephraim</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="8085">Hear</strongs>me, thou <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>, and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>; </verse>
      <verse number='5'>Ought ye <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>to <strongs number="3045">know</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5414">gave</strongs>the <strongs number="4467">kingdom</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>to <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="5769">forever</strongs>, <em> even </em>to him and to his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>by a <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>of <strongs number="4417">salt</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='6'>Yet <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="5028">Nebat</strongs>, the <strongs number="5650">servant</strongs>of <strongs number="8010">Solomon</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>, is risen <strongs number="6965">up</strongs>, and hath <strongs number="4775">rebelled</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>his <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And there are <strongs number="6908">gathered</strongs><strongs number="5921">unto</strongs>him <strongs number="7386">vain</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="1100">Belial</strongs>, and have strengthened <strongs number="553">themselves</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="8010">Solomon</strongs>, when <strongs number="7346">Rehoboam</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="5288">young</strongs>and <strongs number="7390 3824">tenderhearted</strongs>, and could <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="2388 6440">withstand</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And <strongs number="6258">now</strongs><strongs number="859">ye</strongs><strongs number="559">think</strongs>to <strongs number="2388">withstand</strongs>the <strongs number="4467">kingdom</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>in the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>of <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>; and <strongs number="859">ye</strongs><em> be </em>a <strongs number="7227">great</strongs><strongs number="1995">multitude</strongs>, and <em> there </em><em> are </em><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>you <strongs number="2091">golden</strongs><strongs number="5695">calves</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs><strongs number="6213">made</strongs>you for <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>Have ye <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>cast <strongs number="5080">out</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>of <strongs number="175">Aaron</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3881">Levites</strongs>, and have <strongs number="6213">made</strongs>you <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>after the manner of the <strongs number="5971">nations</strongs>of <em> other </em><strongs number="776">lands</strongs>? so that <strongs number="3605">whosoever</strongs><strongs number="935">cometh</strongs>to <strongs number="4390 3027">consecrate</strongs>himself with a <strongs number="1121 1241">young</strongs><strongs number="6499">bullock</strongs>and <strongs number="7651">seven</strongs><strongs number="352">rams</strongs>, <em> the </em><em> same </em>may <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>a <strongs number="3548">priest</strongs>of <em> them </em><em> that </em><em> are </em><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>But as for <strongs number="587">us</strongs>, the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><em> is </em>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, and we have <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5800">forsaken</strongs>him; and the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>, which <strongs number="8334">minister</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <em> are </em>the <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>of <strongs number="175">Aaron</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3881">Levites</strongs><em> wait </em>upon <em> their </em><strongs number="4399">business</strongs>: </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And they <strongs number="6999">burn</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>every <strongs number="1242 1242">morning</strongs>and every <strongs number="6153 6153">evening</strongs>burnt <strongs number="5930">sacrifices</strongs>and <strongs number="5561">sweet</strongs><strongs number="7004">incense</strongs>: the <strongs number="3899 4635">shewbread</strongs>also <em> set </em><em> they </em><em> in </em><em> order </em><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="2889">pure</strongs><strongs number="7979">table</strongs>; and the <strongs number="4501">candlestick</strongs>of <strongs number="2091">gold</strongs>with the <strongs number="5216">lamps</strongs>thereof, to <strongs number="1197">burn</strongs>every <strongs number="6153 6153">evening</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="587">we</strongs><strongs number="8104">keep</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4931">charge</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs>; but <strongs number="859">ye</strongs>have <strongs number="5800">forsaken</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>And, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, <strongs number="430">God</strongs>himself <em> is </em><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>us for <em> our </em><strongs number="7218">captain</strongs>, and his <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs>with <strongs number="8643">sounding</strongs><strongs number="2689">trumpets</strongs>to cry <strongs number="7321">alarm</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>you. O <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="3898">fight</strongs>ye <strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="5973">against</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of your <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>ye shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="6743">prosper</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>But <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs><strongs number="5437">caused</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>an <strongs number="3993">ambushment</strongs>to come <strongs number="935">about</strongs><strongs number="4480 310">behind</strongs>them: so they <strongs number="1961">were</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3993">ambushment</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="4480 310">behind</strongs>them. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And when <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>looked <strongs number="6437">back</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, the <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>and <strongs number="268">behind</strongs>: and they <strongs number="6817">cried</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3548">priests</strongs><strongs number="2690">sounded</strongs>with the <strongs number="2689">trumpets</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>Then the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>gave a <strongs number="7321">shout</strongs>: and as the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="7321">shouted</strongs>, it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, that <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="5062">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs>and <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5127">fled</strongs><strongs number="4480 6440">before</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>: and <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="5414">delivered</strongs>them into their <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>And <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs>and his <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="5221">slew</strongs>them with a <strongs number="7227">great</strongs><strongs number="4347">slaughter</strongs>: so there fell <strongs number="5307">down</strongs><strongs number="2491">slain</strongs>of <strongs number="4480 3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="2568">five</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><strongs number="977">chosen</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Thus the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>were brought <strongs number="3665">under</strongs>at <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="6256">time</strongs>, and the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs><strongs number="553">prevailed</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>they <strongs number="8172">relied</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>of their <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>And <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs><strongs number="7291">pursued</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs>, and <strongs number="3920">took</strongs><strongs number="5892">cities</strongs><strongs number="4480">from</strongs>him, <strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1008">Bethel</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>the <strongs number="1323">towns</strongs>thereof, and <strongs number="3466">Jeshanah</strongs><strongs number="854">with</strongs>the <strongs number="1323">towns</strongs>thereof, and <strongs number="6085">Ephrain</strongs>with the <strongs number="1323">towns</strongs>thereof. </verse>
      <verse number='20'><strongs number="3808">Neither</strongs>did <strongs number="3379">Jeroboam</strongs><strongs number="6113">recover</strongs><strongs number="3581">strength</strongs><strongs number="5750">again</strongs>in the <strongs number="3117">days</strongs>of <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs>: and the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5062">struck</strongs>him, and he <strongs number="4191">died</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>But <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs>waxed <strongs number="2388">mighty</strongs>, and <strongs number="5375">married</strongs><strongs number="702 6240">fourteen</strongs><strongs number="802">wives</strongs>, and <strongs number="3205">begot</strongs><strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs>and <strongs number="8147">two</strongs><strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, and <strongs number="8337 6240">sixteen</strongs><strongs number="1323">daughters</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>And the <strongs number="3499">rest</strongs>of the <strongs number="1697">acts</strongs>of <strongs number="29">Abijah</strongs>, and his <strongs number="1870">ways</strongs>, and his <strongs number="1697">sayings</strongs>, <em> are </em><strongs number="3789">written</strongs>in the <strongs number="4097">story</strongs>of the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs><strongs number="5714">Iddo</strongs>. </verse>
