      <verse number='1'>And the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="7157">Kirjath</strongs>-jearim <strongs number="935">came</strongs>, and fetched <strongs number="5927">up</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>it <strongs number="413">into</strongs>the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="41">Abinadab</strongs>in the <strongs number="1389">hill</strongs>, and <strongs number="6942">sanctified</strongs><strongs number="499">Eleazar</strongs>his <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>to <strongs number="8104">keep</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, <strongs number="4480 3117">while</strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs><strongs number="3427">abode</strongs>in <strongs number="7157">Kirjath</strongs>-jearim, that the <strongs number="3117">time</strongs>was <strongs number="7235">long</strongs>; for it <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>: and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5091">lamented</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="559">spoke</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="518">If</strongs><strongs number="859">ye</strongs>do <strongs number="7725">return</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>with <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>your <strongs number="3824">hearts</strongs>, <em> then </em>put <strongs number="5493">away</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="5236">strange</strongs><strongs number="430">gods</strongs>and <strongs number="6252">Ashtaroth</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 8432">among</strongs>you, and <strongs number="3559">prepare</strongs>your <strongs number="3824">hearts</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="5647">serve</strongs>him <strongs number="905">only</strongs>: and he will <strongs number="5337">deliver</strongs>you out of the <strongs number="4480 3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Then the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>did put <strongs number="5493">away</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1168">Baalim</strongs>and <strongs number="6252">Ashtaroth</strongs>, and <strongs number="5647">served</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="905">only</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="6908">Gather</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>to <strongs number="4709">Mizpeh</strongs>, and I will <strongs number="6419">pray</strongs><strongs number="1157">for</strongs>you <strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And they gathered <strongs number="6908">together</strongs>to <strongs number="4709">Mizpeh</strongs>, and <strongs number="7579">drew</strongs><strongs number="4325">water</strongs>, and poured <em> it </em><strongs number="8210">out</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="6684">fasted</strongs>on <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>, We have <strongs number="2398">sinned</strongs>against the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="8199">judged</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>in <strongs number="4709">Mizpeh</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And when the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>were gathered <strongs number="6908">together</strongs>to <strongs number="4709">Mizpeh</strongs>, the <strongs number="5633">lords</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs><strongs number="413">against</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. And when the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><em> it </em>, they were <strongs number="3372">afraid</strongs><strongs number="4480 6440">of</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>, <strongs number="2790">Cease</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs>to <strongs number="4480 2199">cry</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>our <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="4480">for</strongs>us, that he will <strongs number="3467">save</strongs>us out of the <strongs number="4480 3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="3947">took</strongs><strongs number="259">a</strongs><strongs number="2461">sucking</strongs><strongs number="2924">lamb</strongs>, and <strongs number="5927">offered</strongs><em> it </em><em> for </em>a burnt <strongs number="5930">offering</strongs><strongs number="3632">wholly</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>: and <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="2199">cried</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="1157">for</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>; and the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="6030">heard</strongs>him. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And as <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs>offering <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>the burnt <strongs number="5930">offering</strongs>, the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>drew <strongs number="5066">near</strongs>to <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>against <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: but the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="7481">thundered</strongs>with a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="6963">thunder</strongs>on <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>, and <strongs number="2000">discomfited</strongs>them; and they were <strongs number="5062">smitten</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs><strongs number="4709">Mizpeh</strongs>, and <strongs number="7291">pursued</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>, and <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs>them, <strongs number="5704">until</strongs><em> they </em><em> came </em><strongs number="4480 8478">under</strongs><strongs number="1033">Beth</strongs>-car. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>Then <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="3947">took</strongs><strongs number="259">a</strongs><strongs number="68">stone</strongs>, and <strongs number="7760">set</strongs><em> it </em><strongs number="996">between</strongs><strongs number="4709">Mizpeh</strongs>and <strongs number="8129">Shen</strongs>, and <strongs number="7121">called</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of it <strongs number="72">Ebenezer</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="5704 2009">Hitherto</strongs>hath the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5826">helped</strongs>us. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>So the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>were <strongs number="3665">subdued</strongs>, and they <strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="3808">no</strongs><strongs number="3254 5750">more</strongs>into the <strongs number="1366">coast</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: and the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="1961">was</strongs>against the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="3117">days</strongs>of <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>had <strongs number="3947">taken</strongs><strongs number="4480 854">from</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>were <strongs number="7725">restored</strongs>to <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, from <strongs number="4480 6138">Ekron</strongs>even <strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="1661">Gath</strongs>; and the <strongs number="1366">coasts</strongs>thereof did <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5337">deliver</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 3027">hands</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>. And there <strongs number="1961">was</strongs><strongs number="7965">peace</strongs><strongs number="996">between</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>and the <strongs number="567">Amorites</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And <strongs number="8050">Samuel</strongs><strongs number="8199">judged</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="3117">days</strongs>of his <strongs number="2416">life</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And he <strongs number="1980">went</strongs><strongs number="4880 1767">from</strongs><strongs number="8141">year</strongs>to <strongs number="8141">year</strongs>in <strongs number="5437">circuit</strongs>to <strongs number="1008">Bethel</strongs>, and <strongs number="1537">Gilgal</strongs>, and <strongs number="4709">Mizpeh</strongs>, and <strongs number="8199">judged</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="854">in</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="428">those</strongs><strongs number="4725">places</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>And his <strongs number="8666">return</strongs><em> was </em>to <strongs number="7414">Ramah</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs><em> was </em>his <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>; and <strongs number="8033">there</strongs>he <strongs number="8199">judged</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>; and <strongs number="8033">there</strongs>he <strongs number="1129">built</strongs>an <strongs number="4196">altar</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
