Now <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="7125">against</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>to <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>, and <strongs number="2583">pitched</strongs><strongs number="5921">beside</strongs><strongs number="72">Ebenezer</strongs>: and the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="2583">pitched</strongs>in <strongs number="663">Aphek</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>put themselves in <strongs number="6186">array</strongs><strongs number="7125">against</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: and when they <strongs number="5203">joined</strongs><strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>, <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>was <strongs number="5062">smitten</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>: and they <strongs number="5221">slew</strongs>of the <strongs number="4634">army</strongs>in the <strongs number="7704">field</strongs>about <strongs number="702">four</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>. </verse>

Let us <strongs number="3947">fetch</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 7887">Shiloh</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>us, that, when it <strongs number="935">cometh</strongs><strongs number="7130">among</strongs>us, it may <strongs number="3467">save</strongs>us out of the <strongs number="4480 3709">hand</strongs>of our <strongs number="341">enemies</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>So the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>to <strongs number="7887">Shiloh</strongs>, that they might <strongs number="5375">bring</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 8033">thence</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>of <strongs number="6635">hosts</strongs>, which <strongs number="3427">dwelleth</strongs><em> between </em>the <strongs number="3742">cherubims</strongs>: and the <strongs number="8147">two</strongs><strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>of <strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs>, <strongs number="2652">Hophni</strongs>and <strongs number="6372">Phinehas</strongs>, <em> were </em><strongs number="8033">there</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And when the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of the <strongs number="1285">covenant</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>the <strongs number="4264">camp</strongs>, <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="7321">shouted</strongs>with a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="8643">shout</strongs>, so that the <strongs number="776">earth</strongs><strongs number="1949">rang</strongs>again. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>And when the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="6963">noise</strongs>of the <strongs number="8643">shout</strongs>, they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">What</strongs><em> meaneth </em>the <strongs number="6963">noise</strongs>of <strongs number="2063">this</strongs><strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="8643">shout</strongs>in the <strongs number="4264">camp</strongs>of the <strongs number="5680">Hebrews</strongs>?       <verse number='7'>And the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>were <strongs number="3372">afraid</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="430">God</strongs>is <strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>the <strongs number="4264">camp</strongs>. And they <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="188">Woe</strongs>unto us! <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>there hath <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="1961">been</strongs>such a <strongs number="2063">thing</strongs><strongs number="865 8032">heretofore</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'><strongs number="188">Woe</strongs>unto us! <strongs number="4310">who</strongs>shall <strongs number="5337">deliver</strongs>us out of the <strongs number="4480 3027">hand</strongs>of <strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="117">mighty</strongs><strongs number="430">Gods</strongs>? <strongs number="428">these</strongs><em> are </em>the <strongs number="430">Gods</strongs>that <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4714">Egyptians</strongs>with <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="4347">plagues</strongs>in the <strongs number="4057">wilderness</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='12'>And there <strongs number="7323">ran</strongs>a <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of <strongs number="1144">Benjamin</strongs>out of the <strongs number="4480 4634">army</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">came</strongs>to <strongs number="7887">Shiloh</strongs>the <strongs number="1931">same</strongs><strongs number="3117">day</strongs>with his <strongs number="4055">clothes</strongs><strongs number="7167">rent</strongs>, and with <strongs number="127">earth</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>his <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>And when he <strongs number="935">came</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">lo</strongs>, <strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs><strongs number="3427">sat</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>a <strongs number="3678">seat</strongs>by the <strongs number="3197 1870">wayside</strongs><strongs number="6822">watching</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>his <strongs number="3820">heart</strongs><strongs number="2730">trembled</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>. And the <strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs>in <strongs number="4116">hastily</strongs>, and <strongs number="5046">told</strongs><strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>Now <strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs>was <strongs number="8375">ninety</strongs>and <strongs number="8083">eight</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs><strongs number="1121">old</strongs>; and his <strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>were <strongs number="6965">dim</strongs>, that he <strongs number="3201">could</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="7200">see</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And the <strongs number="376">man</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="5941">Eli</strongs>, <strongs number="595">I</strongs><em> am </em>he that <strongs number="935">came</strongs>out <strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="4634">army</strongs>, and <strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="5127">fled</strongs><strongs number="3117">today</strongs>out <strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="4634">army</strongs>.       <verse number='17'>And the <strongs number="1319">messenger</strongs><strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>is <strongs number="5127">fled</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>, and there hath <strongs number="1961">been</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>a <strongs number="1419">great</strongs><strongs number="4046">slaughter</strongs>among the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, and thy <strongs number="8147">two</strongs><strongs number="1121">sons</strongs><strongs number="1571">also</strongs>, <strongs number="2652">Hophni</strongs>and <strongs number="6372">Phinehas</strongs>, are <strongs number="4191">dead</strongs>, and the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>is <strongs number="3947">taken</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, when he made <strongs number="2142">mention</strongs>of <strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, that he <strongs number="5307">fell</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 5921">off</strongs>the <strongs number="3678">seat</strongs><strongs number="322">backward</strongs><strongs number="1157">by</strongs>the <strongs number="3027">side</strongs>of the <strongs number="8179">gate</strongs>, and his <strongs number="4665">neck</strongs><strongs number="7665">broke</strongs>, and he <strongs number="4191">died</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>he was an <strongs number="2204">old</strongs><strongs number="376">man</strongs>, and <strongs number="3515">heavy</strongs>.       <verse number='19'>And his <strongs number="3618">daughter</strongs>-in-law, <strongs number="6372">Phinehas</strongs>' <strongs number="802">wife</strongs>, was with <strongs number="2030">child</strongs>, <em> near </em>to be <strongs number="3205">delivered</strongs>: and when she <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="8052">tidings</strongs>that the <strongs number="727">ark</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>was <strongs number="3947">taken</strongs>, and that her <strongs number="2524">father</strongs>-in-law and her <strongs number="376">husband</strongs>were <strongs number="4191">dead</strongs>, she bowed <strongs number="3766">herself</strongs>and <strongs number="3205">travailed</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>her <strongs number="6735">pains</strongs><strongs number="2015">came</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>her. </verse>
      <verse number='20'>And about the <strongs number="6256">time</strongs>of her <strongs number="4191">death</strongs>the women that <strongs number="5324">stood</strongs>by her <strongs number="1696">said</strongs><strongs number="5921">unto</strongs>her, <strongs number="3372">Fear</strongs><strongs number="408">not</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>thou hast <strongs number="3205">born</strongs>a <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>. But she <strongs number="6030">answered</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>did she <strongs number="7896 3820">regard</strongs><em> it </em>. </verse>
