      <verse number='1'><strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs>and <strongs number="2568">five</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs><strongs number="1121">old</strongs><em> when </em>he began to <strongs number="4427">reign</strongs>, and he <strongs number="4427">reigned</strongs><strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs>and <strongs number="8672">nine</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs>in <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. And his <strongs number="517">mother</strongs>'s <strongs number="8034">name</strongs><em> was </em><strongs number="3086">Jehoaddan</strongs>of <strongs number="4480 3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And he <strongs number="6213">did</strongs><em> that </em><em> which </em><em> was </em><strongs number="3477">right</strongs>in the <strongs number="5869">sight</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="7535">but</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>with a <strongs number="8003">perfect</strongs><strongs number="3824">heart</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>Now it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, <strongs number="834">when</strongs>the <strongs number="4467">kingdom</strongs>was <strongs number="2388">established</strongs><strongs number="5921">to</strongs>him, that he <strongs number="2026">slew</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>that had <strongs number="5221">killed</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>his <strongs number="1">father</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>But he <strongs number="4191">slew</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>their <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">but</strongs><em> did </em>as <em> it </em><em> is </em><strongs number="3789">written</strongs>in the <strongs number="8451">law</strongs>in the <strongs number="5612">book</strongs>of <strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs>, <strongs number="834">where</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="6680">commanded</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, The <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>shall <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="4191">die</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">neither</strongs>shall the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs><strongs number="4191">die</strongs><strongs number="5921">for</strongs>the <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">but</strongs>every <strongs number="376">man</strongs>shall <strongs number="4191">die</strongs>for his own <strongs number="2399">sin</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>Moreover <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>gathered Judah <strongs number="6908 *853 3063">together</strongs>, and <strongs number="5975">made</strongs>them <strongs number="8269">captains</strongs>over <strongs number="505">thousands</strongs>, and <strongs number="8269">captains</strongs>over <strongs number="3967">hundreds</strongs>, according to the <strongs number="1004">houses</strongs>of <em> their </em><strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>, throughout <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>and <strongs number="1144">Benjamin</strongs>: and he <strongs number="6485">numbered</strongs>them from <strongs number="6242">twenty</strongs><strongs number="8141">years</strongs><strongs number="4480 1121">old</strongs>and <strongs number="4605">above</strongs>, and <strongs number="4672">found</strongs>them <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><strongs number="977">choice</strongs><em> men, </em><em> able </em>to go <strongs number="3318">forth</strongs>to <strongs number="6635">war</strongs>, that could <strongs number="270">handle</strongs><strongs number="7420">spear</strongs>and <strongs number="6793">shield</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>He <strongs number="7936">hired</strongs>also a <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>mighty <strongs number="1368">men</strongs>of <strongs number="2428">valor</strongs>out of <strongs number="4480 3478">Israel</strongs>for a <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="3603">talents</strongs>of <strongs number="3701">silver</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>But there <strongs number="935">came</strongs>a <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>him, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, O <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, let <strongs number="408">not</strongs>the <strongs number="6635">army</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="935">go</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>thee; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><em> is </em><strongs number="369">not</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <em> to </em><em> wit, </em><em> with </em><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="669">Ephraim</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='8'><strongs number="3588">But</strongs><strongs number="518">if</strongs><strongs number="859">thou</strongs>wilt <strongs number="935">go</strongs>, <strongs number="6213">do</strongs><em> it </em>, be <strongs number="2388">strong</strongs>for the <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>: <strongs number="430">God</strongs>shall make thee <strongs number="3782">fall</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="341">enemy</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="3426">hath</strongs><strongs number="3581">power</strongs>to <strongs number="5826">help</strongs>, and to cast <strongs number="3782">down</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>to the <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, But <strongs number="4100">what</strongs>shall we <strongs number="6213">do</strongs>for the <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="3603">talents</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>I have <strongs number="5414">given</strongs>to the <strongs number="1416">army</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>? And the <strongs number="376">man</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="559">answered</strongs>, The <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="3426">is</strongs>able to <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>thee much <strongs number="7235">more</strongs>than <strongs number="4480 2088">this</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>Then <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs><strongs number="914">separated</strongs>them, <em> to </em><em> wit </em>, the <strongs number="1416">army</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>was <strongs number="935">come</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>him out of <strongs number="4480 669">Ephraim</strongs>, to <strongs number="1980">go</strongs><strongs number="4725">home</strongs>again: wherefore their <strongs number="639">anger</strongs>was <strongs number="3966">greatly</strongs><strongs number="2734">kindled</strongs>against <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, and they <strongs number="7725">returned</strongs><strongs number="4725">home</strongs>in <strongs number="2750">great</strongs><strongs number="639">anger</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>strengthened <strongs number="2388">himself</strongs>, and led <strongs number="5090">forth</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, and <strongs number="1980">went</strongs>to the <strongs number="1516">valley</strongs>of <strongs number="4417">salt</strongs>, and <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="8165">Seir</strongs><strongs number="6235">ten</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='12'>And <em> other </em><strongs number="6235">ten</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><em> left </em><strongs number="2416">alive</strongs>did the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>carry away <strongs number="7617">captive</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>them unto the <strongs number="7218">top</strongs>of the <strongs number="5553">rock</strongs>, and cast them <strongs number="7993">down</strongs>from the <strongs number="4480 7218">top</strongs>of the <strongs number="5553">rock</strongs>, that they <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>were broken in <strongs number="1234">pieces</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>But the <strongs number="1121">soldiers</strongs>of the <strongs number="1416">army</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>sent <strongs number="7725">back</strongs>, that they should not <strongs number="4480 1980">go</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>him to <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>, fell <strongs number="6584">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, from <strongs number="4480 8111">Samaria</strongs>even <strongs number="5704">unto</strongs><strongs number="1032">Beth</strongs>-horon, and <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>them, and <strongs number="962">took</strongs><strongs number="7227">much</strongs><strongs number="961">spoil</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>Now it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, after <strongs number="310">that</strongs><strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>was <strongs number="935">come</strongs>from the <strongs number="4480 5221">slaughter</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>of the <strongs number="130">Edomites</strongs>, that he <strongs number="935">brought</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of the <strongs number="1121">children</strongs>of <strongs number="8165">Seir</strongs>, and set them <strongs number="5975">up</strongs><em> to </em><em> be </em>his <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>, and bowed down <strongs number="7812">himself</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>them, and burned <strongs number="6999">incense</strongs>unto them. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>Wherefore the <strongs number="639">anger</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>was <strongs number="2734">kindled</strongs>against <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>, and he <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs>him a <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs>, which <strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto him, <strongs number="4100">Why</strongs>hast thou sought <strongs number="1875">after</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>could <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5337">deliver</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>their own <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>out of thine <strongs number="4480 3027">hand</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs>, as he <strongs number="1696">talked</strongs><strongs number="413">with</strongs>him, that <em> the </em><em> king </em><strongs number="559">said</strongs>unto him, Art thou <strongs number="5414">made</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="3289">counsel</strongs>? <strongs number="2308">forbear</strongs>; <strongs number="4100">why</strongs>shouldest thou be <strongs number="5221">smitten</strongs>? Then the <strongs number="5030">prophet</strongs><strongs number="2308">forbore</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>, I <strongs number="3045">know</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>hath <strongs number="3289">determined</strongs>to <strongs number="7843">destroy</strongs>thee, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>thou hast <strongs number="6213">done</strongs><strongs number="2063">this</strongs>, and hast <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="8085">hearkened</strongs>unto my <strongs number="6098">counsel</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>Then <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>took <strongs number="3289">advice</strongs>, and <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3101">Joash</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="3059">Jehoahaz</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="3058">Jehu</strongs>, <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="1980">Come</strongs>, let us see one <strongs number="7200">another</strongs>in the <strongs number="6440">face</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>And <strongs number="3101">Joash</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, The <strongs number="2336">thistle</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> was </em>in <strongs number="3844">Lebanon</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="730">cedar</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> was </em>in <strongs number="3844">Lebanon</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="5414">Give</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>thy <strongs number="1323">daughter</strongs>to my <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>to <strongs number="802">wife</strongs>: and there passed <strongs number="5674">by</strongs>a <strongs number="7704">wild</strongs><strongs number="2416">beast</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> was </em>in <strongs number="3844">Lebanon</strongs>, and trod <strongs number="7429">down</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="2336">thistle</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='20'>But <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>would <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="8085">hear</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="1931">it</strongs><em> came </em>of <strongs number="4480 430">God</strongs>, <strongs number="4616">that</strongs>he might <strongs number="5414">deliver</strongs>them into the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs><em> of </em><em> their </em><em> enemies </em>, <strongs number="3588">because</strongs>they sought <strongs number="1875">after</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>of <strongs number="123">Edom</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>So <strongs number="3101">Joash</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>; and they saw one <strongs number="7200">another</strongs>in the <strongs number="6440">face</strongs>, <em> both </em><strongs number="1931">he</strongs>and <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, at <strongs number="1053">Beth</strongs>-shemesh, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> belongeth </em>to <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>And <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>was put to the <strongs number="5062">worse</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and they <strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>every <strongs number="376">man</strongs>to his <strongs number="168">tent</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='23'>And <strongs number="3101">Joash</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="8610">took</strongs><strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs><strongs number="4428">king</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="3101">Joash</strongs>, the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="3059">Jehoahaz</strongs>, at <strongs number="1053">Beth</strongs>-shemesh, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>him to <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>, and broke <strongs number="6555">down</strongs>the <strongs number="2346">wall</strongs>of <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>from the <strongs number="4480 8179">gate</strongs>of <strongs number="669">Ephraim</strongs><strongs number="5704">to</strongs>the <strongs number="6438">corner</strongs><strongs number="8179">gate</strongs>, <strongs number="702">four</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="520">cubits</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='26'>Now the <strongs number="3499">rest</strongs>of the <strongs number="1697">acts</strongs>of <strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>, <strongs number="7223">first</strongs>and <strongs number="314">last</strongs>, <strongs number="2009">behold</strongs>, <em> are </em>they <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3789">written</strongs><strongs number="5921">in</strongs>the <strongs number="5612">book</strongs>of the <strongs number="4428">kings</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>and <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='27'>Now after the <strongs number="4480 6256">time</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><strongs number="558">Amaziah</strongs>did turn <strongs number="5493">away</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 310">following</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>they <strongs number="7194">made</strongs>a <strongs number="7195">conspiracy</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>him in <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>; and he <strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>to <strongs number="3923">Lachish</strongs>: but they <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>to <strongs number="3923">Lachish</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs>him, and <strongs number="4191">slew</strongs>him <strongs number="8033">there</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='28'>And they <strongs number="5375">brought</strongs>him <strongs number="5921">upon</strongs><strongs number="5483">horses</strongs>, and <strongs number="6912">buried</strongs>him <strongs number="5973">with</strongs>his <strongs number="1">fathers</strongs>in the <strongs number="5892">city</strongs>of <strongs number="3063">Judah</strongs>. </verse>
