      <verse number='2'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs>and <strongs number="413">to</strongs>the <strongs number="8269">rulers</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, <strongs number="1980">Go</strongs>, <strongs number="5608">number</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 884">Beer</strongs>-sheba even <strongs number="5704">to</strongs><strongs number="1835">Dan</strongs>; and <strongs number="935">bring</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4557">number</strongs>of them <strongs number="413">to</strongs>me, that I may <strongs number="3045">know</strongs><em> it </em>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And <strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs><strongs number="559">answered</strongs>, The <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>make his <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>a <strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="6471">times</strongs>so many <strongs number="3254">more</strongs>as <strongs number="1992">they</strongs><em> be </em>: but, my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>, <em> are </em>they <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs>my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>'s <strongs number="5650">servants</strongs>? <strongs number="4100">why</strongs>then doth my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs><strongs number="1245">require</strongs>this <strongs number="2063">thing</strongs>? <strongs number="4100">why</strongs>will he <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>a cause of <strongs number="819">trespass</strongs>to <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>? </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Nevertheless the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs>'s <strongs number="1697">word</strongs><strongs number="2388">prevailed</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs>. Wherefore <strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs><strongs number="3318">departed</strongs>, and <strongs number="1980">went</strongs>throughout <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">came</strongs>to <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And <strongs number="3097">Joab</strongs><strongs number="5414">gave</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4557">sum</strongs>of the <strongs number="4662">number</strongs>of the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>.       <verse number='7'>And <strongs number="430">God</strongs>was <strongs number="3415 5869">displeased</strongs><strongs number="5921">with</strongs><strongs number="2088">this</strongs><strongs number="1697">thing</strongs>; therefore he <strongs number="5221">smote</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>. </verse>

      <verse number='10'><strongs number="1980">Go</strongs>and <strongs number="1696 413">tell</strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>, <strongs number="559">saying</strongs>, <strongs number="3541">Thus</strongs><strongs number="559">saith</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="5186 5921">offer</strongs>thee <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><em> things </em>: <strongs number="977">choose</strongs>thee <strongs number="259">one</strongs>of <strongs number="4480 1992">them</strongs>, that I may <strongs number="6213">do</strongs><em> it </em>unto thee. </verse>

      <verse number='13'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="1410">Gad</strongs>, I am in a great <strongs number="6887 3966">strait</strongs>: let me <strongs number="5307">fall</strongs><strongs number="4994">now</strongs>into the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs><strongs number="3966">very</strongs><strongs number="7227">great</strongs><em> are </em>his <strongs number="7356">mercies</strongs>: but let me <strongs number="408">not</strongs><strongs number="5307">fall</strongs>into the <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>of <strongs number="120">man</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='14'>So the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5414">sent</strongs><strongs number="1698">pestilence</strongs>upon <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>: and there <strongs number="5307">fell</strongs>of <strongs number="4480 3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="7657">seventy</strongs><strongs number="505">thousand</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='15'>And <strongs number="430">God</strongs><strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>an <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>unto <strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>to <strongs number="7843">destroy</strongs>it: and as he was <strongs number="7843">destroying</strongs>, the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="7200">beheld</strongs>, and he repented <strongs number="5162">him</strongs><strongs number="5921">of</strongs>the <strongs number="7451">evil</strongs>, and <strongs number="559">said</strongs>to the <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>that <strongs number="7843">destroyed</strongs>, It is <strongs number="7227">enough</strongs>, <strongs number="7503">stay</strongs><strongs number="6258">now</strongs>thine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>. And the <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5975">stood</strongs><strongs number="5973">by</strongs>the <strongs number="1637">threshingfloor</strongs>of <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>the <strongs number="2983">Jebusite</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='16'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>lifted <strongs number="5375">up</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>, and <strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="5975">stand</strongs><strongs number="996">between</strongs>the <strongs number="776">earth</strongs>and the <strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>, having a <strongs number="8025">drawn</strongs><strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>in his <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>stretched <strongs number="5186">out</strongs><strongs number="5921">over</strongs><strongs number="3389">Jerusalem</strongs>. Then <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>and the <strongs number="2205">elders</strongs><em> of </em><em> Israel, </em><em> who </em><em> were </em><strongs number="3680">clothed</strongs>in <strongs number="8242">sackcloth</strongs>, <strongs number="5307">fell</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>their <strongs number="6440">faces</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='17'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="430">God</strongs>, <em> Is </em><em> it </em><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="589">I</strongs><em> that </em><strongs number="559">commanded</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>to be <strongs number="4487">numbered</strongs>? even <strongs number="589">I</strongs><strongs number="1931">it</strongs>is <strongs number="834">that</strongs>have <strongs number="2398">sinned</strongs>and done evil <strongs number="7489 7489">indeed</strongs>; but <em> as </em><em> for </em><strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="6629">sheep</strongs>, <strongs number="4100">what</strongs>have they <strongs number="6213">done</strongs>? let thine <strongs number="3027">hand</strongs>, I pray <strongs number="4994">thee</strongs>, O <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>my <strongs number="430">God</strongs>, <strongs number="1961">be</strongs>on me, and on my <strongs number="1">father</strongs>'s <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>; but <strongs number="3808">not</strongs>on thy <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>, that they should be <strongs number="4046">plagued</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='18'>Then the <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559 413">commanded</strongs><strongs number="1410">Gad</strongs>to <strongs number="559">say</strongs>to <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>, <strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>should go <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>, and set <strongs number="6965">up</strongs>an <strongs number="4196">altar</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>in the <strongs number="1637">threshingfloor</strongs>of <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>the <strongs number="2983">Jebusite</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='19'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>went <strongs number="5927">up</strongs>at the <strongs number="1697">saying</strongs>of <strongs number="1410">Gad</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>he <strongs number="1696">spoke</strongs>in the <strongs number="8034">name</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='20'>And <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>turned <strongs number="7725">back</strongs>, and <strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>; and his <strongs number="702">four</strongs><strongs number="1121">sons</strongs><strongs number="5973">with</strongs>him hid <strongs number="2244">themselves</strongs>. Now <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>was <strongs number="1758">threshing</strongs><strongs number="2406">wheat</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='21'>And as <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs><strongs number="5704">to</strongs><strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>, <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs><strongs number="5027">looked</strongs>and <strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>, and went <strongs number="3318">out</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="1637">threshingfloor</strongs>, and bowed <strongs number="7812">himself</strongs>to <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>with <em> his </em><strongs number="639">face</strongs>to the <strongs number="776">ground</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='22'>Then <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs><strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>, <strongs number="5414">Grant</strongs>me the <strongs number="4725">place</strongs>of <em> this </em><strongs number="1637">threshingfloor</strongs>, that I may <strongs number="1129">build</strongs>an <strongs number="4196">altar</strongs>therein unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>: thou shalt <strongs number="5414">grant</strongs>it me for the <strongs number="4392">full</strongs><strongs number="3701">price</strongs>: that the <strongs number="4046">plague</strongs>may be <strongs number="6113">stayed</strongs><strongs number="4480 5921">from</strongs>the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='23'>And <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="413">unto</strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs>, <strongs number="3947">Take</strongs><em> it </em>to thee, and let my <strongs number="113">lord</strongs>the <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="6213">do</strongs><em> that </em><em> which </em><em> is </em><strongs number="2896">good</strongs>in his <strongs number="5869">eyes</strongs>: <strongs number="7200">lo</strongs>, I <strongs number="5414">give</strongs><em> thee </em>the <strongs number="1241">oxen</strongs><em> also </em>for burnt <strongs number="5930">offerings</strongs>, and the threshing <strongs number="4173">instruments</strongs>for <strongs number="6086">wood</strongs>, and the <strongs number="2406">wheat</strongs>for the meat <strongs number="4503">offering</strongs>; I <strongs number="5414">give</strongs>it <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='24'>And <strongs number="4428">king</strongs><strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="559">said</strongs>to <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>, <strongs number="3808">Nay</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">but</strongs>I will verily <strongs number="7069 7069">buy</strongs>it for the <strongs number="4392">full</strongs><strongs number="3701">price</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>I will <strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="5375">take</strongs><em> that </em><strongs number="834">which</strongs><em> is </em>thine for the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, nor <strongs number="5927">offer</strongs>burnt <strongs number="5930">offerings</strongs>without <strongs number="2600">cost</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='25'>So <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="5414">gave</strongs>to <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>for the <strongs number="4725">place</strongs><strongs number="8337">six</strongs><strongs number="3967">hundred</strongs><strongs number="8255">shekels</strongs>of <strongs number="2091">gold</strongs>by <strongs number="4948">weight</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='26'>And <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="1129">built</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>an <strongs number="4196">altar</strongs>unto the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, and <strongs number="5927">offered</strongs>burnt <strongs number="5930">offerings</strongs>and peace <strongs number="8002">offerings</strongs>, and <strongs number="7121">called</strongs><strongs number="413">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>; and he <strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>him <strongs number="4480">from</strongs><strongs number="8064">heaven</strongs>by <strongs number="784">fire</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>the <strongs number="4196">altar</strongs>of burnt <strongs number="5930">offering</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='27'>And the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs><strongs number="559">commanded</strongs>the <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>; and he put up his sword <strongs number="7725 2719">again</strongs><strongs number="413">into</strongs>the <strongs number="5084">sheath</strongs>thereof. </verse>
      <verse number='28'>At <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="6256">time</strongs>when <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs>the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>had <strongs number="6030">answered</strongs>him in the <strongs number="1637">threshingfloor</strongs>of <strongs number="771">Ornan</strongs>the <strongs number="2983">Jebusite</strongs>, then he <strongs number="2076">sacrificed</strongs><strongs number="8033">there</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='29'>For the <strongs number="4908">tabernacle</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs><strongs number="4872">Moses</strongs><strongs number="6213">made</strongs>in the <strongs number="4057">wilderness</strongs>, and the <strongs number="4196">altar</strongs>of the burnt <strongs number="5930">offering</strongs>, <em> were </em>at <strongs number="1931">that</strongs><strongs number="6256">season</strongs>in the high <strongs number="1116">place</strongs>at <strongs number="1391">Gibeon</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='30'>But <strongs number="1732">David</strongs><strongs number="3201">could</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs><strongs number="1980">go</strongs><strongs number="6440">before</strongs>it to <strongs number="1875">inquire</strongs>of <strongs number="430">God</strongs>: <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>he was <strongs number="1204">afraid</strongs><strongs number="4480 6440">because</strongs>of the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>of the <strongs number="4397">angel</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>. </verse>
