      <verse number='1'>Now the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="3898">fought</strongs>against <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs>; and the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>from <strongs number="4480 6440">before</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>, and fell <strongs number="5307">down</strongs><strongs number="2491">slain</strongs>in <strongs number="2022">mount</strongs><strongs number="1533">Gilboa</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='2'>And the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>followed <strongs number="1692">hard</strongs><strongs number="310">after</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, and <strongs number="310">after</strongs>his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>; and the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="5221">slew</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3129">Jonathan</strongs>, and <strongs number="41">Abinadab</strongs>, and <strongs number="4444">Malchi</strongs>-shua, the <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='3'>And the <strongs number="4421">battle</strongs>went <strongs number="3513">sore</strongs><strongs number="5921">against</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, and the <strongs number="3384 7198">archers</strongs><strongs number="4672">hit</strongs>him, and he was <strongs number="2342">wounded</strongs><strongs number="4480">of</strongs>the <strongs number="3384">archers</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='4'>Then <strongs number="559">said</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="413">to</strongs>his <strongs number="5375 3627">armorbearer</strongs>, <strongs number="8025">Draw</strongs>thy <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>, and thrust me <strongs number="1856">through</strongs>therewith; <strongs number="6435">lest</strongs><strongs number="428">these</strongs><strongs number="6189">uncircumcised</strongs><strongs number="935">come</strongs>and <strongs number="5953">abuse</strongs>me. But his <strongs number="5375 3627">armorbearer</strongs><strongs number="14">would</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>; <strongs number="3588">for</strongs>he was sore <strongs number="3372 3966">afraid</strongs>. So <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="3947">took</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>a <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>, and <strongs number="5307">fell</strongs><strongs number="5921">upon</strongs>it. </verse>
      <verse number='5'>And when his <strongs number="5375 3627">armorbearer</strongs><strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>was <strongs number="4191">dead</strongs>, <strongs number="1931">he</strongs><strongs number="5307">fell</strongs><strongs number="1571">likewise</strongs><strongs number="5921">on</strongs>the <strongs number="2719">sword</strongs>, and <strongs number="4191">died</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='6'>So <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="4191">died</strongs>, and his <strongs number="7969">three</strongs><strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, and <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>his <strongs number="1004">house</strongs><strongs number="4191">died</strongs><strongs number="3162">together</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='7'>And when <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="376">men</strongs>of <strongs number="3478">Israel</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs><em> were </em>in the <strongs number="6010">valley</strongs><strongs number="7200">saw</strongs><strongs number="3588">that</strongs>they <strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>, and <strongs number="3588">that</strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>and his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>were <strongs number="4191">dead</strongs>, then they <strongs number="5800">forsook</strongs>their <strongs number="5892">cities</strongs>, and <strongs number="5127">fled</strongs>: and the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs>and <strongs number="3427">dwelt</strongs>in them. </verse>
      <verse number='8'>And it came to <strongs number="1961">pass</strongs><strongs number="4480">on</strongs>the <strongs number="4283">morrow</strongs>, when the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs><strongs number="935">came</strongs>to <strongs number="6584">strip</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="2491">slain</strongs>, that they <strongs number="4672">found</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>and his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs><strongs number="5307">fallen</strongs>in <strongs number="2022">mount</strongs><strongs number="1533">Gilboa</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='9'>And when they had <strongs number="6584">stripped</strongs>him, they <strongs number="5375">took</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="7218">head</strongs>, and his <strongs number="3627">armor</strongs>, and <strongs number="7971">sent</strongs>into the <strongs number="776">land</strongs>of the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>round <strongs number="5439">about</strongs>, to carry <strongs number="1319">tidings</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>unto their <strongs number="6091">idols</strongs>, and to the <strongs number="5971">people</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='10'>And they <strongs number="7760">put</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>his <strongs number="3627">armor</strongs>in the <strongs number="1004">house</strongs>of their <strongs number="430">gods</strongs>, and <strongs number="8628">fastened</strongs>his <strongs number="1538">head</strongs>in the <strongs number="1004">temple</strongs>of <strongs number="1712">Dagon</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='11'>And when <strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="3003 1568">Jabesh</strongs>-gilead <strongs number="8085">heard</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs><strongs number="3605">all</strongs><strongs number="834">that</strongs>the <strongs number="6430">Philistines</strongs>had <strongs number="6213">done</strongs>to <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, </verse>
      <verse number='12'>They <strongs number="6965">arose</strongs>, <strongs number="3605">all</strongs>the <strongs number="2428">valiant</strongs><strongs number="376">men</strongs>, and took <strongs number="5375">away</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="1480">body</strongs>of <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs>, and the <strongs number="1480">bodies</strongs>of his <strongs number="1121">sons</strongs>, and <strongs number="935">brought</strongs>them to <strongs number="3003">Jabesh</strongs>, and <strongs number="6912">buried</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>their <strongs number="6106">bones</strongs><strongs number="8478">under</strongs>the <strongs number="424">oak</strongs>in <strongs number="3003">Jabesh</strongs>, and <strongs number="6684">fasted</strongs><strongs number="7651">seven</strongs><strongs number="3117">days</strongs>. </verse>
      <verse number='13'>So <strongs number="7586">Saul</strongs><strongs number="4191">died</strongs>for his <strongs number="4604">transgression</strongs><strongs number="834">which</strongs>he <strongs number="4603">committed</strongs>against the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <em> even </em><strongs number="5921">against</strongs>the <strongs number="1697">word</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>, <strongs number="834">which</strongs>he <strongs number="8104">kept</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>, and <strongs number="1571">also</strongs>for <strongs number="7592">asking</strongs><em> counsel </em>of <em> one </em><em> that </em><em> had </em>a familiar <strongs number="178">spirit</strongs>, to <strongs number="1875">inquire</strongs><em> of </em><em> it </em>; </verse>
      <verse number='14'>And <strongs number="1875">inquired</strongs><strongs number="3808">not</strongs>of the <strongs number="3068">LORD</strongs>: therefore he <strongs number="4191">slew</strongs>him, and <strongs number="5437">turned</strongs><strongs number="*853"></strongs>the <strongs number="4410">kingdom</strongs>unto <strongs number="1732">David</strongs>the <strongs number="1121">son</strongs>of <strongs number="3448">Jesse</strongs>. </verse>
