And it was toldSaulthatDavidwas fledto Gath: and he soughtnomoreagainfor him. And DavidsaiduntoAchish, IfI have nowfoundgracein thine eyes, let them giveme a placein sometownin the country, that I may dwellthere: for whyshould thy servantdwellin the royalcitywiththee? Then Achishgavehim Ziklagthatday: whereforeZiklagpertainethunto the kingsof Judahuntothisday. And the timethatDaviddweltin the countryof the Philistineswasa fullyearand fourmonths. And Davidand his menwent up, and invadedthe Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: forthose nations were of oldthe inhabitantsof the land, as thou goestto Shur, even untothe landof Egypt. And Davidsmotethe land, and leftneithermannor womanalive, and took awaythe sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and cametoAchish. And Achishsaid, Whitherhave ye made a roadtoday? And Davidsaid, Againstthe southof Judah, and againstthe southof the Jerahmeelites, and againstthe southof the Kenites. And Davidsavedneithermannor womanalive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lestthey should tellonus, saying, SodidDavid, and so will be his mannerallthe whilehe dwellethin the countryof the Philistines. And AchishbelievedDavid, saying, He hath made his peopleIsraelutterly to abhorhim; therefore he shall bemy servantforever.
