ThenfourteenyearsafterI went upagaintoJerusalemwithBarnabas, and took Titus with me also. AndI went upbyrevelation, andcommunicatedunto themthat gospelwhichI preachamongtheGentiles, butprivatelyto them which were of reputation, lest by any meansI should run, orhad run, invain. ButneitherTitus, whowas withme, beinga Greek, was compelledto be circumcised: Andthat becauseof false brethrenunawares brought in, whocame in privilyto spy outourlibertywhichwe haveinChristJesus, thatthey might bring us into bondage: To whomwe gave placeby subjection, no, notforan hour; thatthetruthof thegospelmight continuewithyou. Butofthesewho seemedto besomewhat, ( whatsoeverthey were, it maketh no matterto me: Godacceptethnoman's person:) forthey who seemed to be somewhat in conference addednothingto me: Butcontrariwise, when they sawthatthegospelof theuncircumcisionwas committedunto me, as the gospel of thecircumcision was unto Peter; ( Forhe that wrought effectuallyin Petertothe apostleshipof thecircumcision, the same was mightyinmetowardtheGentiles:) Andwhen James, Cephas, andJohn, who seemedto bepillars, perceivedthegracethat was givenunto me, they gaveto meandBarnabasthe right handsof fellowship; thatwe should go untotheheathen, andtheyuntothecircumcision. Only they would thatwe should rememberthepoor; the samewhichI alsowas forwardto do. ButwhenPeterwas cometoAntioch, I withstoodhimtothe face, becausehe wasto be blamed. Forbefore that certaincamefromJames, he did eatwiththeGentiles: butwhenthey were come, he withdrewandseparatedhimself, fearingthemwhich were ofthe circumcision. AndtheotherJewsdissembled likewise withhim; insomuch thatBarnabasalsowas carried away withtheirdissimulation. ButwhenI sawthatthey walked not uprightlyaccordingto thetruthof thegospel, I saidunto Peterbefore them all, Ifthou, beinga Jew, livestafter the manner of Gentiles, andnotas do the Jews, whycompellestthou theGentilesto live as do the Jews? We who are Jewsby nature, andnotsinnersofthe Gentiles, Knowingthata manis notjustifiedbythe worksof the law, butbythe faithof JesusChrist, evenwehave believedinJesusChrist, thatwe might be justifiedbythe faithof Christ, andnotbythe worksof the law: forbythe worksof the lawshall nofleshbe justified. Butif, while we seekto be justifiedbyChrist, weourselves alsoare foundsinners, is thereforeChristthe ministerof sin? God forbid. ForifI buildagainthe thingswhichI destroyed, I makemyselfa transgressor. ForIthroughthe lawam deadto the law, thatI might liveunto God. I am crucified withChrist: neverthelessI live; yet notI, butChristlivethinme: andthe life whichI nowliveinthe fleshI livebythe faithoftheSonof God, who lovedme, andgavehimselfforme. I do notfrustratethegraceof God: forifrighteousness come bythe law, thenChristis deadin vain.
