Andsupperbeing ended, thedevilhaving nowputintotheheartof JudasIscariot, Simon's son, tobetrayhim; JesusknowingthattheFatherhad givenall thingsintohishands, andthathe was comefromGod, andwenttoGod; He risethfromsupper, andlaid asidehis garments; andtooka towel, and girdedhimself. After thathe pourethwaterintoa basin, andbeganto washthedisciples' feet, andto wipe them with thetowelwherewithhe wasgirded. Thencomethhe toSimonPeter: andPetersaithunto him, Lord, dost thouwashmyfeet? Jesusansweredandsaidunto him, WhatIdothouknowestnotnow; but thou shalt knowhereafter. Petersaithunto him, Thou shalt neverwashmyfeet. Jesusansweredhim, If I washtheenot, thou hastnopartwithme. SimonPetersaithunto him, Lord, notmyfeetonly, butalso my handsand my head. Jesussaithto him, He that is washedneedethnotsave to wash his feet, butisclean every whit: andyeareclean, butnotall. Forhe knewwho should betrayhim; thereforesaidhe, Ye arenotallclean. Soafterhe had washedtheirfeet, andhad takenhisgarments, and was set downagain, he saidunto them, Know ye what I have done to you? YecallmeMasterandLord: and ye saywell; for so I am. IfIthen, your LordandMaster, have washedyourfeet; yealsoought to wash one another's feet. For I have givenyou an example, thatyeshoulddoasI have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servantisnotgreater than hislord; neither he that is sentgreater than he that senthim. If ye know these things, happyare ye if ye dothem. I speaknotofyouall: Iknowwhom I have chosen: butthattheScripture may be fulfilled, He that eatethbreadwithme hath lifted uphisheelagainstme. Now I tellyoubefore it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believethatIam he. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receivethwhomsoever I sendreceivethme; and he that receivethmereceiveth him that sentme. When Jesushad thussaid, he was troubledin spirit, andtestified, andsaid, Verily, verily, I say unto you, thatoneofyou shall betrayme. Thenthediscipleslookedone on another, doubtingofwhomhe spake. Nowthere wasleaningonJesus' bosomoneofhisdisciples, whomJesusloved. SimonPeterthereforebeckonedto him, that he should askwhoit should beofwhomhe spake. Andwhen he had dippedthesop, he gave it to JudasIscariot, the son of Simon. AndafterthesopSatanenteredintohim. ThensaidJesusunto him, That thou doest, doquickly. Nowno manat the tableknewforwhat intenthe spakethisunto him. Forsome of them thought, becauseJudashadthebag, thatJesushad saidunto him, Buy those things thatwe haveneedof againstthefeast; or, thathe should givesomethingto thepoor. Hethenhaving receivedthesopwent immediately out: andit wasnight. Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesussaid, Now is theSon of manglorified, andGod is glorifiedinhim. IfGod be glorifiedinhim, God shall alsoglorifyhiminhimself, and shall straightwayglorifyhim. Little children, yet a little while I amwithyou. Bythis shall all men knowthat ye aremydisciples, if ye havelove one to another. SimonPetersaidunto him, Lord, whithergoestthou? Jesusansweredhim, Whither I go, thou canstnotfollowmenow; but thou shalt followmeafterwards. Petersaidunto him, Lord, whycannotI followtheenow? I will lay downmylifefor thy sake.
