Butwhen thePhariseessaw it, they saidunto him, Behold, thydisciplesdothat whichis not lawfulto douponthe sabbath day. Buthesaidunto them, Have ye notreadwhatDaviddid, whenhe was hungry, andthey that were withhim; How he enteredintothehouse of God, and did eattheshewbread, whichwasnotlawful for him to eat, neither for them which were withhim, butonly for thepriests Or have ye notreadinthelaw, how that on the sabbath daysthepriestsinthetempleprofanethesabbath, andareblameless But I say unto you, That in this placeis one greater than thetemple. Butif ye had knownwhat this meaneth, I will have mercy, andnotsacrifice, ye would not have condemnedtheguiltless. FortheSon of manisLordeven of the sabbath day. Andwhen he was departedthence, he wentintotheirsynagogue: And, behold, there wasa manwhich had his handwithered. Andthey askedhim, saying, Is it lawfulto healon thesabbath days? thatthey might accusehim. Andhesaidunto them, Whatman shall there beamongyou, that shall haveonesheep, andifitfallinto a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How muchthen is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to dowell on the sabbath days. Thensaithhe to theman, Stretch forththine hand. Andhestretched it forth; andit was restoredwhole, like astheother. ThenthePhariseeswent out, and helda councilagainsthim, howthey might destroyhim. Butwhen Jesusknew it, he withdrewhimself from thence: andgreatmultitudesfollowedhim, andhe healedthemall; Andchargedthemthatthey should notmakehimknown: Thatit might be fulfilledwhich was spokenbyIsaiahtheprophet, saying, Beholdmyservant, whomI have chosen; mybeloved, inwhommysoulis well pleased: I will putmyspirituponhim, andhe shall showjudgmentto theGentiles. He shall notstrive, norcry; neithershall any manhearhisvoiceinthestreets. A bruisedreedshall he notbreak, andsmokingflaxshall he notquench, tillhe send forthjudgmentuntovictory. Andinhisnameshall the Gentilestrust. Thenwas broughtunto himone possessed with a devil, blind, anddumb: andhe healedhim, insomuch thattheblindanddumbbothspakeandsaw. Andallthepeoplewere amazed, andsaid, Isnotthisthesonof David? Butwhen thePhariseesheard it, they said, This fellow doth notcast outdevils, butbyBeelzebubthe princeof thedevils. AndJesusknewtheirthoughts, and saidunto them, Everykingdomdividedagainstitself is brought to desolation; andeverycityorhousedividedagainstitself shall notstand: AndifSatan cast outSatan, he is dividedagainsthimself; how shall thenhiskingdomstand? AndifIbyBeelzebub cast outdevils, bywhom do yourchildren cast them out? thereforethey shall beyourjudges. ButifI cast outdevilsby the Spirit of God, thenthekingdom of God is comeuntoyou. Or elsehowcanoneenterinto a strong man's house, andspoilhisgoods, except he firstbindthe strong manandthen he will spoilhishouse. He that isnotwithmeisagainstme; and he that gatherethnotwithme scattereth abroad. Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sinandblasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: buttheblasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Andwhosoeverspeaketh a wordagainsttheSon of man, it shall be forgivenhim: butwhosoeverspeakethagainsttheHolyGhost, it shall not be forgivenhim, neitherinthisworld, neitherinthe world to come. Eithermakethetreegood, andhisfruitgood; or elsemakethetreecorrupt, andhisfruitcorrupt: forthetree is knownby his fruit. O generation of vipers, howcan ye, beingevil, speak good things? forout of theabundance of theheartthemouthspeaketh. A goodmanout of thegoodtreasure of theheart bringeth forth good things: and an evilman out oftheeviltreasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, Thateveryidlewordthatmen shall speak, they shall giveaccountthereofin the day of judgment. Forbythywords thou shalt be justified, andbythywords thou shalt be condemned. Thencertainof thescribesandof the Phariseesanswered, saying, Master, we wouldseea signfromthee. Butheansweredand saidunto them, An evilandadulterousgeneration seeketh after a sign; and there shall nosign be given to it, butthesign of theprophetJonah: ForasJonahwasthreedaysandthreenightsinthewhale's belly; so shall theSon of manbethreedaysandthreenightsintheheart of theearth. The men of Nineveh shall riseinjudgmentwiththisgeneration, and shall condemnit: because they repentedatthepreaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here. The queen of the south shall rise upinthejudgmentwiththisgeneration, and shall condemnit: for she camefromthe uttermost parts of theearth to hearthewisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. Whentheuncleanspirit is gone out of a man, he walkeththroughdryplaces, seekingrest, andfindethnone. Then he saith, I will returnintomyhouse from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, andgarnished. Thengoeth he, andtakethwithhimselfsevenotherspirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwellthere: andthelast state of thatmanisworse than thefirst. Even so shall it bealso unto thiswickedgeneration. Whileheyettalkedto thepeople, behold, his motherandhisbrethrenstoodwithout, desiringto speakwith him. Thenonesaidunto him, Behold, thymotherandthybrethrenstandwithout, desiringto speakwith thee. Butheansweredand saidunto him that toldhim, Whoismymother? andwhoaremybrethren? Andhe stretched forthhishandtowardhisdisciples, and said, Beholdmymotherandmybrethren! Forwhosoever shall dothewill of myFatherwhich is inheaven, the sameismybrother, andsister, andmother.
