Sayye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah. Pleadwith your mother, plead: forshe is notmy wife, neither am Iher husband: let her therefore put awayher whoredomsout of her sight, and her adulteriesfrom betweenher breasts; LestI stripher naked, and sether as in the daythat she was born, and makeher as a wilderness, and sether like a dryland, and slayher with thirst. And I will nothave mercy uponher children; forthey be the childrenof whoredoms. Fortheir motherhath played the harlot: she that conceivedthem hath done shamefully: forshe said, I will goaftermy lovers, that give me my breadand my water, my wooland my flax, mine oiland my drink. Therefore, behold, I will hedge upthy waywith thorns, and makea wall, that she shall notfindher paths. And she shall follow afterher lovers, but she shall notovertakethem; and she shall seekthem, but shall notfind them : then shall she say, I will goand returntomy firsthusband; forthen was it betterwith me than now. For shedid notknowthatIgaveher corn, and wine, and oil, and multipliedher silverand gold, which they preparedfor Baal. Thereforewill I return, and take awaymy cornin the timethereof, and my winein the seasonthereof, and will recovermy wooland my flax given to coverher nakedness. And nowwill I discoverher lewdnessin the sightof her lovers, and noneshall deliverher out of mine hand. I will also cause allher mirthto cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and allher solemn feasts. And I will destroyher vinesand her fig trees, whereofshe hath said, These are my rewardsthatmy lovershave givenme: and I will makethem a forest, and the beastsof the fieldshall eatthem. And I will visituponher the daysof Baalim, whereinshe burned incenseto them, and she deckedherself with her earringsand her jewels, and she wentafterher lovers, and forgotme, saiththe LORD. Therefore, behold, Iwill allureher, and bringher into the wilderness, and speakcomfortablyunto her. And I will giveher her vineyardsfrom thence, and the valleyof Achorfor a doorof hope: and she shall singthere, as in the daysof her youth, and as in the daywhen she came upout of the landof Egypt. And it shall beat thatday, saiththe LORD, that thou shalt callme Ishi; and shalt callme nomoreBaali. For I will take awaythe namesof Baalimout of her mouth, and they shall nomorebe rememberedby their name. And in thatdaywill I makea covenantfor them withthe beastsof the field, and withthe fowlsof heaven, and with the creeping thingsof the ground: and I will breakthe bowand the swordand the battleout ofthe earth, and will make them to lie downsafely. And I will betroththee unto me forever; yea, I will betroththee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. I will even betroththee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt knowthe LORD. And it shall come to passin thatday, I will hear, saiththe LORD, I will hearthe heavens, and theyshall hearthe earth; And the earthshall hearthe corn, and the wine, and the oil; and theyshall hearJezreel. And I will sowher unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy uponher that had notobtained mercy; and I will sayto them which were notmy people, Thou art my people; and theyshall say, Thou art my God.
