In the firstyearof Belshazzarkingof BabylonDanielhada dreamand visionsof his headuponhis bed: thenhe wrotethe dream, and toldthe sumof the matters. Danielspokeand said, I sawin my visionbynight, and, behold, the fourwindsof the heavenstroveupon the greatsea. And fourgreatbeastscame upfromthe sea, diverseonefrom another. The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheldtillthe wingsthereof were plucked, and it was lifted upfromthe earth, and made standuponthe feetas a man, and a man's heartwas givento it. And beholdanotherbeast, a second, liketo a bear, and it raised upitself on oneside, and it had threeribsin the mouthof it betweenthe teethof it: and they saidthusunto it, Arise, devourmuchflesh. AfterthisI beheld, and loanother, like a leopard, which had uponthe backof it fourwingsofa fowl; the beasthad also fourheads; and dominionwas givento it. AfterthisI sawin the nightvisions, and beholda fourthbeast, dreadfuland terrible, and strongexceedingly; and it had greatironteeth: it devouredand broke in pieces, and stampedthe residuewith the feetof it: and it was diversefromallthe beaststhat were beforeit; and it had tenhorns. I consideredthe horns, and, behold, there came upamongthem anotherlittlehorn, beforewhom there were threeofthe firsthornsplucked up by the roots: and, behold, in thishorn were eyeslike the eyesof man, and a mouthspeakinggreat things. I beheldtillthe throneswere cast down, and the Ancientof daysdid sit, whose garment was whiteas snow, and the hairof his headlike the purewool: his throne was like the fieryflame, and his wheels as burningfire. A fierystreamissuedand came forthfrombeforehim: thousandthousandsministeredunto him, and ten thousand times ten thousandstoodbeforehim: the judgmentwas set, and the bookswere opened. I beheldthenbecause ofthe voiceof the greatwordswhichthe hornspoke: I beheld even tillthe beastwas slain, and his bodydestroyed, and givento the burningflame. As concerning the restof the beasts, they had their dominiontaken away: yet their liveswere prolongedfora seasonand time. I sawin the nightvisions, and, behold, one like the Sonof mancamewiththe cloudsof heaven, and cametothe Ancientof days, and they brought him nearbeforehim. And there was givenhim dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that allpeople, nations, and languages, should servehim: his dominion is an everlastingdominion, whichshall notpass away, and his kingdom that whichshall notbe destroyed. IDanielwas grievedin my spiritin the midstof my body, and the visionsof my headtroubledme. I came nearuntooneofthem that stood by, and askedhim the truthofallthis. So he toldme, and made me knowthe interpretationof the things. Thesegreatbeasts, whichare four, are fourkings, which shall ariseout ofthe earth. But the saintsof the most Highshall takethe kingdom, and possessthe kingdomforever, even foreverand ever. ThenI wouldknowthe truthofthe fourthbeast, whichwasdiversefromallthe others, exceedingdreadful, whose teeth were ofiron, and his nailsofbrass; which devoured, broke in pieces, and stampedthe residuewith his feet; And ofthe tenhornsthat were in his head, and of the otherwhichcame up, and beforewhom threefell; even of thathornthat had eyes, and a mouththat spokevery great things, whose look was more stoutthanhis fellows. I beheld, and the samehornmadewarwiththe saints, and prevailedagainst them; Untilthe Ancientof dayscame, and judgmentwas givento the saintsof the most High; and the timecamethat the saintspossessedthe kingdom. Thushe said, The fourthbeastshall bethe fourthkingdomupon earth, whichshall be diversefromallkingdoms, and shall devourthe wholeearth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. And the tenhornsout ofthis kingdom are tenkings that shall arise: and anothershall riseafterthem; and heshall be diversefromthe first, and he shall subduethreekings. And he shall speak great wordsagainstthe most High, and shall wear outthe saintsof the most High, and thinkto changetimesand laws: and they shall be giveninto his handuntila timeand timesand the dividingof time. But the judgmentshall sit, and they shall take awayhis dominion, to consumeand to destroy it untothe end. And the kingdomand dominion, and the greatnessofthe kingdomunderthe wholeheaven, shall be givento the peopleof the saintsof the most High, whose kingdom is an everlastingkingdom, and alldominionsshall serveand obeyhim. Hitherto is the endofthe matter. As for meDaniel, my cogitationsmuchtroubledme, and my countenancechangedinme: but I keptthe matterin my heart.
