Who is thisthat comethfrom Edom, with dyedgarmentsfrom Bozrah? this that is gloriousin his apparel, travelingin the greatnessof his strength? Ithat speakin righteousness, mightyto save. Wherefore art thou redin thine apparel, and thy garmentslike him that treadethin the wine vat? I have troddenthe winepressalone; and of the people there was nonewithme: for I will treadthem in mine anger, and tramplethem in my fury; and their bloodshall be sprinkleduponmy garments, and I will stainallmy raiment. Forthe dayof vengeance is in mine heart, and the yearof my redeemedis come. And I looked, and there was noneto help; and I wonderedthat there was noneto uphold: therefore mine own armbrought salvationunto me; and my fury, itupheldme. And I will tread downthe peoplein mine anger, and make them drunkin my fury, and I will bring downtheir strengthto the earth. I will mentionthe lovingkindnessesof the LORD, and the praisesof the LORD, accordingto allthatthe LORDhath bestowedon us, and the greatgoodnesstoward the houseof Israel, whichhe hath bestowedon them according to his mercies, and according to the multitudeof his lovingkindnesses. For he said, Surelythey are my people, children that will notlie: so he wastheir Savior. In alltheir afflictionhe was afflicted, and the angelof his presencesavedthem: in his loveand in his pityheredeemedthem; and he borethem, and carriedthem allthe daysof old. But theyrebelled, and vexedhis HolySpirit: therefore he was turnedto be their enemy, and hefoughtagainst them. Then he rememberedthe daysof old, Moses, and his people, saying , Where is he that brought them upout of the seawiththe shepherdof his flock? where is he that puthis HolySpiritwithinhim? That led them by the right handof Moseswith his gloriousarm, dividingthe waterbeforethem, to makehimself an everlastingname? That ledthem through the deep, as a horsein the wilderness, that they should notstumble? As a beastgoeth downinto the valley, the Spiritof the LORDcaused him to rest: sodidst thou leadthy people, to makethyself a gloriousname. Look downfrom heaven, and beholdfrom the habitationof thy holinessand of thy glory: where is thy zealand thy strength, the soundingof thy bowelsand of thy merciestowardme? are they restrained? Doubtlessthou art our father, thoughAbrahambe ignorantof us, and Israelacknowledgeus not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting. O LORD, whyhast thou made us to errfrom thy ways, and hardenedour heartfrom thy fear? Returnfor thy servants' sake, the tribesof thine inheritance. The peopleof thy holinesshave possessed it but a little while: our adversarieshave trodden downthy sanctuary. We are thine : thou neverdidst bear ruleover them; they were notcalledbythy name.
