Comfortye, comfortye my people, saithyour God. Speakye comfortablyto Jerusalem, and cryuntoher, thather warfareis accomplished, thather iniquityis pardoned: forshe hath receivedof the LORD's handdoublefor allher sins. The voiceof him that criethin the wilderness, Prepareye the wayof the LORD, make straightin the deserta highwayfor our God. Everyvalleyshall be exalted, and everymountainand hillshall be made low: and the crookedshall be madestraight, and the rough placesplain: And the gloryof the LORDshall be revealed, and allfleshshall see it together: forthe mouthof the LORDhath spoken it . The voicesaid, Cry. And he said, Whatshall I cry? Allflesh is grass, and allthe goodlinessthereof is as the flowerof the field: The grasswithereth, the flowerfadeth: becausethe spiritof the LORDblowethupon it: surelythe people is grass. The grasswithereth, the flowerfadeth: but the wordof our Godshall standforever. O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee upintothe highmountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift upthy voicewith strength; lift it up, be not afraid; sayunto the citiesof Judah, Beholdyour God! Behold, the LordGODwill comewith strong hand , and his armshall rulefor him: behold, his reward is withhim, and his workbeforehim. He shall feedhis flocklike a shepherd: he shall gatherthe lambswith his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently leadthose that are with young. Whohath measuredthe watersin the hollow of his hand, and meted outheavenwith the span, and comprehendedthe dustof the earthin a measure, and weighedthe mountainsin scales, and the hillsin a balance? Whohath directedthe Spiritof the LORD, or being his counselorhath taughthim? With whomtook he counsel, and who instructedhim, and taughthim in the pathof judgment, and taughthim knowledge, and showedto him the wayof understanding? Behold, the nations are as a dropof a bucket, and are countedas the small dustof the balance: behold, he taketh upthe islesas a very little thing. And Lebanon is notsufficientto burn, northe beaststhereof sufficientfor a burnt offering. Allnationsbeforehim are as nothing; and they are countedto him less than nothing, and vanity. Towhomthen will ye likenGod? or whatlikenesswill ye compareunto him? The workmanmeltetha graven image, and the goldsmithspreadeth it overwith gold, and castethsilverchains. He that is so impoverishedthat he hath no oblationchoosetha tree that will notrot; he seekethunto him a cunningworkmanto preparea graven image, that shall notbe moved. Have ye notknown? have ye notheard? hath it notbeen toldyou from the beginning? have ye notunderstoodfrom the foundationsof the earth? It is he that sittethuponthe circleof the earth, and the inhabitantsthereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth outthe heavensas a curtain, and spreadeth them outas a tentto dwell in: That bringeththe princesto nothing; he makeththe judgesof the earthas vanity. Yea, they shall notbe planted; yea, they shall notbe sown: yea, their stockshall nottake rootin the earth: and he shall alsoblowupon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwindshall take them awayas stubble. Towhomthen will ye likenme, or shall I be equal? saiththe Holy One. Lift upyour eyeson high, and beholdwhohath createdthese things , that bringeth outtheir hostby number: he calleththem allby namesby the greatnessof his might, for that he is strongin power; notonefaileth. Whysayestthou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My wayis hidfrom the LORD, and my judgmentis passed overfrom my God? Hast thou notknown? hast thou notheard, that the everlastingGod, the LORD, the Creatorof the endsof the earth, faintethnot, neitheris weary? there is nosearchingof his understanding. He givethpowerto the faint; and to them that have nomighthe increasethstrength. Even the youthsshall faintand be weary, and the young menshall utterly fall: But they that wait uponthe LORDshall renew their strength; they shall mount upwith wingsas eagles; they shall run, and notbe weary; and they shall walk, and notfaint.
