A Psalm of David. The LORD is my lightand my salvation; whomshall I fear? the LORD is the strengthof my life; of whomshall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemiesand my foes, cameuponme to eat upmy flesh, theystumbledand fell. Thougha hostshould encampagainstme, my heartshall notfear: thoughwarshould riseagainstme, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desiredofthe LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwellin the houseof the LORDallthe daysof my life, to beholdthe beautyof the LORD, and to inquirein his temple. Forin the timeof troublehe shall hideme in his pavilion: in the secretof his tabernacleshall he hideme; he shall set me upupon a rock. And nowshall mine headbe lifted upabovemine enemiesround aboutme: therefore will I offerin his tabernaclesacrificesof joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praisesunto the LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I crywith my voice: have mercyalso upon me, and answerme. When thou saidst , Seekye my face; my heartsaidunto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. Hidenotthy face far fromme; put not thy servant awayin anger: thou hast beenmy help; leaveme not, neitherforsakeme, O Godof my salvation. Whenmy fatherand my motherforsakeme, then the LORDwill take me up. Teachme thy way, O LORD, and leadme in a plainpath, because ofmine enemies. Deliverme notover unto the willof mine enemies: forfalsewitnessesare risen upagainst me, and such as breathe outcruelty. I had fainted , unlessI had believedto seethe goodnessof the LORDin the landof the living. Waitonthe LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthenthine heart: wait, I say, onthe LORD.
