MoreoverJobcontinuedhis parable, and said, Oh thatI wereas in monthspast, as in the days when Godpreservedme; When his candleshineduponmy head, and when by his lightI walked through darkness; AsI wasin the daysof my youth, when the secretof God was uponmy tabernacle; When the Almighty was yetwithme, when my children were aboutme; When I washedmy stepswith butter, and the rockpoured me outriversof oil; When I went outto the gatethroughthe city, when I preparedmy seatin the street! The young mensawme, and hid themselves: and the agedarose, and stood up. The princesrefrainedtalking, and laid their handon their mouth. The noblesheldtheir peace, and their tonguecleavedto the roof of their mouth. Whenthe earheard me , then it blessedme; and when the eyesaw me , it gave witnessto me: BecauseI deliveredthe poorthat cried, and the fatherless, and him that had noneto helphim. The blessingof him that was ready to perishcameuponme: and I caused the widow's heartto sing for joy. I put onrighteousness, and it clothedme: my judgment was as a robeand a diadem. I waseyesto the blind, and feet was Ito the lame. I was a fatherto the poor: and the cause which I knewnotI searched out. And I brokethe jawsof the wicked, and pluckedthe spoilout of his teeth. Then I said, I shall dieinmy nest, and I shall multiply my daysas the sand. My root was spread outbythe waters, and the dewlay all nightupon my branch. My glory was freshinme, and my bowwas renewedin my hand. Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silenceatmy counsel. Aftermy wordsthey spoke not againand my speechdroppeduponthem. And they waitedfor me as for the rain; and they openedtheir mouthwide as for the latter rain. If I laughedonthem, they believed it not; and the lightof my countenancethey cast not down. I chose outtheir way, and satchief, and dweltas a kingin the army, asone that comforteththe mourners.
