Then Solomonspokeunto allIsrael, to the captainsof thousandsand of hundreds, and to the judges, and to everygovernorin allIsrael, the chiefof the fathers. So Solomon, and allthe congregationwithhim, wentto the high placethat was at Gibeon; fortherewasthe tabernacleof the congregationof God, whichMosesthe servantof the LORDhad madein the wilderness. Butthe arkof Godhad Davidbrought upfrom Kirjath-jearim to the place which Davidhad preparedfor it: forhe had pitcheda tentfor it at Jerusalem. Moreover the brazenaltar, thatBezaleelthe sonof Uri, the sonof Hur, had made, he putbeforethe tabernacleof the LORD: and Solomonand the congregationsoughtunto it. And Solomonwent upthithertothe brazenaltarbeforethe LORD, which was at the tabernacleof the congregation, and offereda thousandburnt offeringsuponit. In thatnightdid Godappearunto Solomon, and saidunto him, AskwhatI shall givethee. And Solomonsaidunto God, Thouhast showedgreatmercyuntoDavidmy father, and hast made me to reignin his stead. Now, O LORDGod, let thy promiseuntoDavidmy fatherbe established: forthouhast made me kingovera peoplelike the dustof the earthin multitude. Giveme nowwisdomand knowledge, that I may go outand come inbeforethispeople: forwhocan judgethisthy people, that is so great? And Godsaidto Solomon, Becausethiswasinthine heart, and thou hast notaskedriches, wealth, or honor, nor the lifeof thine enemies, neitheryethast askedlong life; but hast askedwisdomand knowledgefor thyself, thatthou mayest judgemy people, overwhomI have made thee king: Wisdomand knowledge is grantedunto thee; and I will givethee riches, and wealth, and honor, such asnoneof the kingshave hadthat have been beforethee, neithershall there any afterthee havethe like. Then Solomoncame from his journey to the high placethat was at Gibeonto Jerusalem, from beforethe tabernacleof the congregation, and reignedoverIsrael. And Solomongatheredchariotsand horsemen: and he hada thousandand fourhundredchariots, and twelvethousandhorsemen, which he placedin the chariotcities, and withthe kingat Jerusalem. And the kingmadesilverand goldat Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar treesmadehe as the sycamore treesthat are in the valefor abundance. And Solomonhad horsesbrought outof Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchantsreceivedthe linen yarnat a price. And they fetched up, and brought forthout of Egypta chariotfor sixhundred shekels of silver, and a horsefor a hundredand fifty: and sobrought they out horses for allthe kingsof the Hittites, and for the kingsof Syria, by their means.
