And when he came, behold, the captainsof the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errandtothee, O captain. And Jehusaid, Untowhichof allus? And he said, Tothee, O captain. And he arose, and wentinto the house; and he pouredthe oilonhis head, and saidunto him, Thussaiththe LORDGodof Israel, I have anointedthee kingoverthe peopleof the LORD, even overIsrael. And thou shalt smitethe houseof Ahabthy master, that I may avengethe bloodof my servantsthe prophets, and the bloodof allthe servantsof the LORD, at the handof Jezebel. For the wholehouseof Ahabshall perish: and I will cut offfrom Ahabhim that pissethagainst the wall, and him that is shut upand leftin Israel: And I will makethe houseof Ahablike the houseof Jeroboamthe sonof Nebat, and like the houseof Baashathe sonof Ahijah: And the dogsshall eatJezebelin the portionof Jezreel, and there shall be noneto bury her . And he openedthe door, and fled. Then Jehucame forthtothe servantsof his lord: and one saidunto him, Is all well? whereforecamethismad fellow tothee? And he saiduntothem, Yeknowthe man, and his communication. And they said, It is false; tellus now. Then they hasted, and tookevery manhis garment, and put it underhim onthe topof the stairs, and blewwith trumpets, saying, Jehuis king. So Jehuthe sonof Jehoshaphatthe sonof NimshiconspiredagainstJoram. (Now JoramhadkeptRamoth-gilead, heand allIsrael, becauseof Hazaelkingof Syria. But kingJoramwas returnedto be healedin Jezreelofthe woundswhichthe Syrianshad givenhim, when he foughtwithHazaelkingof Syria.) And Jehusaid, Ifit beyour minds, then let nonego forth nor escapeout ofthe cityto goto tell it in Jezreel. So Jehurode in a chariot, and wentto Jezreel; forJoramlaythere. And Ahaziahkingof Judahwas come downto seeJoram. And there stooda watchmanonthe towerin Jezreel, and he spiedthe companyof Jehuas he came, and said, Iseea company. And Joramsaid, Takea horseman, and sendto meetthem, and let him say, Is it peace? So there wentone on horsebackto meethim, and said, Thussaiththe king, Is it peace? And Jehusaid, Whathast thou to do with peace? turnthee behindme. And the watchmantold, saying, The messengercametothem, but he cometh not again. Then he sent outa secondon horseback, which cametothem, and said, Thussaiththe king, Is it peace? And Jehuanswered, Whathast thou to do with peace? turnthee behindme. And the watchmantold, saying, He cameevenuntothem, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the drivingof Jehuthe sonof Nimshi; forhe drivethfuriously. And Joramsaid, Make ready. And his chariotwas made ready. And Joramkingof Israeland Ahaziahkingof Judahwent out, eachin his chariot, and they went outagainstJehu, and methim in the portionof Naboththe Jezreelite. And it came to pass, when JoramsawJehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, Whatpeace, so long asthe whoredomsof thy motherJezebeland her witchcrafts are so many? And Joramturnedhis hands, and fled, and saidtoAhaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah. And Jehudrew a bowwith his fullstrength, and smoteJehorambetweenhis arms, and the arrowwent outat his heart, and he sunk downin his chariot. Then said Jehu toBidkarhis captain, Take up, and casthim in the portionof the fieldof Naboththe Jezreelite: forrememberhow that, when Iand thourodetogetherafterAhabhis father, the LORDlaidthisburdenuponhim; SurelyI have seenyesterdaythe bloodof Naboth, and the bloodof his sons, saiththe LORD; and I will requitethee in thisplat, saiththe LORD. Nowtherefore take and casthim into the plat of ground , according to the wordof the LORD. But when Ahaziahthe kingof Judahsaw this , he fledby the wayof the gardenhouse. And Jehufollowedafterhim, and said, Smitehim alsointhe chariot. And they did so at the going upto Gur, which is byIbleam. And he fledto Megiddo, and diedthere. And his servantscarried him in a chariotto Jerusalem, and buriedhim in his sepulcherwithhis fathersin the cityof David. And in the eleventhyearof Joramthe sonof Ahabbegan Ahaziahto reignoverJudah. And when Jehuwas cometo Jezreel, Jezebelheard of it ; and she paintedher face, and tiredher head, and looked outata window. And as Jehuentered inat the gate, she said, Had Zimripeace, who slewhis master? And he lifted uphis facetothe window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked outtohim two or threeeunuchs. And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her bloodwas sprinkledonthe wall, and onthe horses: and he trod her under foot. And when he was come in, he did eatand drink, and said, Go, seenowthiscursed woman , and buryher: forshe is a king's daughter. And they wentto buryher: but they foundno moreof her thanthe skull, and the feet, and the palmsof her hands. Wherefore they came again, and toldhim. And he said, This is the wordof the LORD, whichhe spokebyhis servantElijahthe Tishbite, saying, In the portionof Jezreelshall dogseatthe fleshof Jezebel: And the carcassof Jezebelshall beas dunguponthe faceof the fieldin the portionof Jezreel; so thatthey shall notsay, This is Jezebel.
