And it came to passat the sevenyears' end, that the womanreturnedout of the landof the Philistines: and she went forthto cryuntothe kingforher houseand forher land. And the kingtalkedwithGehazithe servantof the manof God, saying, Tellme, I pray thee, allthe great thingsthatElishahath done. And it came to pass, as hewas tellingthe kinghowhe had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whosesonhe had restored to life, criedtothe kingforher houseand forher land. And Gehazisaid, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whomElisharestored to life. And when the kingaskedthe woman, she toldhim. So the kingappointedunto her a certainofficer, saying, Restoreallthat was hers, and allthe fruitsof the fieldsince the daythat she leftthe land, even untilnow. And Elishacameto Damascus; and Ben-hadad the kingof Syriawas sick; and it was toldhim, saying, The manof Godis comehither. And the kingsaiduntoHazael, Takea presentin thine hand, and go, meetthe manof God, and inquireof the LORDbyhim, saying, Shall I recoverof this disease? So Hazaelwentto meethim, and tooka presentwithhim, even of everygood thingof Damascus, fortycamels' burden, and cameand stoodbeforehim, and said, Thy sonBen-hadad kingof Syriahath sentme tothee, saying, Shall I recoverof this disease? And Elishasaiduntohim, Go, sayunto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORDhath showedme thathe shall surely die. And he settledhis countenancesteadfastly, untilhe was ashamed: and the manof Godwept. And Hazaelsaid, Whyweepethmy lord? And he answered, BecauseI knowthe evilthatthou wilt dounto the childrenof Israel: their strongholdswilt thou seton fire, and their young menwilt thou slaywith the sword, and wilt dashtheir children, and rip uptheir women with child. And Hazaelsaid, Butwhat, is thy servanta dog, thathe should dothisgreatthing? And Elishaanswered, The LORDhath showedme that thou shalt be kingoverSyria. So he departedfromElisha, and cametohis master; who saidto him, WhatsaidElishato thee? And he answered, He toldme that thou shouldest surely recover. And it came to passon the morrow, that he tooka thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it onhis face, so that he died: and Hazaelreignedin his stead. And in the fifthyearof Joramthe sonof Ahabkingof Israel, Jehoshaphat being then kingof Judah, Jehoramthe sonof Jehoshaphatkingof Judahbegan to reign. Thirtyand twoyearsoldwashe when he began to reign; and he reignedeightyearsin Jerusalem. And he walkedin the wayof the kingsof Israel, asdidthe houseof Ahab: forthe daughterof Ahabwashis wife: and he didevilin the sightof the LORD. Yet the LORDwouldnotdestroyJudahfor Davidhis servant's sake, ashe promisedhim to givehim alwaysa light, and to his children. In his daysEdomrevoltedfrom underthe handof Judah, and madea kingoverthemselves. So Joramwent overto Zair, and allthe chariotswithhim: and heroseby night, and smotethe Edomiteswhich compassed him about, and the captainsof the chariots: and the peoplefledinto their tents. Yet Edomrevoltedfrom underthe handof Judahuntothisday. ThenLibnahrevoltedat the sametime. And the restof the actsof Joram, and allthathe did, are theynotwritteninthe bookof the chroniclesof the kingsof Judah? And Joramsleptwithhis fathers, and was buriedwithhis fathersin the cityof David: and Ahaziahhis sonreignedin his stead. In the twelfthyearof Joramthe sonof Ahabkingof Israeldid Ahaziahthe sonof Jehoramkingof Judahbegin to reign. Twoand twentyyearsold was Ahaziahwhen he began to reign; and he reignedoneyearin Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughterof Omrikingof Israel. And he walkedin the wayof the houseof Ahab, and didevilin the sightof the LORD, as did the houseof Ahab: forhe was the son-in-law of the houseof Ahab. And he wentwithJoramthe sonof Ahabto the waragainstHazaelkingof Syriain Ramoth-gilead; and the SyrianswoundedJoram. And kingJoramwent backto be healedin Jezreelofthe woundswhichthe Syrianshad givenhim at Ramah, when he foughtagainstHazaelkingof Syria. And Ahaziahthe sonof Jehoramkingof Judahwent downto seeJoramthe sonof Ahabin Jezreel, becausehewas sick.
