Now Naaman, captainof the hostof the kingof Syria, wasa greatmanwithhis master, and honorable, becauseby him the LORDhad givendeliveranceunto Syria: he wasalso a mightymanin valor, but he was a leper. And the Syrianshad gone outby companies, and had brought away captiveout of the landof Israela littlemaid; and she waitedon Naaman's wife. And she saiduntoher mistress, Would Godmy lord were withthe prophetthat is in Samaria! forhe would recoverhim of his leprosy. And one went in, and toldhis lord, saying, Thusand thussaidthe maidthat is of the landof Israel. And the kingof Syriasaid, Go to, go, and I will senda letteruntothe kingof Israel. And he departed, and tookwithhim tentalentsof silver, and sixthousand pieces of gold, and tenchangesof raiment. And he broughtthe lettertothe kingof Israel, saying, Nowwhen thisletteris comeuntothee, behold, I have therewith sentNaamanmy servanttothee, that thou mayest recoverhim of his leprosy. And it came to pass, when the kingof Israelhad readthe letter, that he renthis clothes, and said, Am IGod, to killand to make alive, thatthisman doth senduntome to recovera manof his leprosy? whereforeconsider, I pray you, and seehowheseeketh a quarrelagainst me. And it was so , when Elishathe manof Godhad heardthatthe kingof Israelhad renthis clothes, that he senttothe king, saying, Whereforehast thou rentthy clothes? let him comenowtome, and he shall knowthatthere isa prophetin Israel. So Naamancamewith his horsesand with his chariot, and stoodat the doorof the houseof Elisha. And Elishasenta messengeruntohim, saying, Goand washin Jordanseventimes, and thy fleshshall come againto thee, and thou shalt be clean. But Naamanwas wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come outtome, and stand, and callon the nameof the LORDhis God, and strikehis handoverthe place, and recoverthe leper. Are notAbanaand Pharpar, riversof Damascus, betterthan allthe watersof Israel? may I notwashin them, and be clean? So he turnedand went awayin a rage. And his servantscame near, and spokeuntohim, and said, My father, if the prophethad bidthee do some greatthing, wouldest thou nothave done it ? how much ratherthen, whenhe saithtothee, Wash, and be clean? Then went he down, and dippedhimself seventimesin Jordan, according to the sayingof the manof God: and his fleshcame againlike unto the fleshof a littlechild, and he was clean. And he returnedtothe manof God, heand allhis company, and came, and stoodbeforehim: and he said, Behold, nowI knowthat there is noGodin allthe earth, butin Israel: nowtherefore, I pray thee, takea blessingofthy servant. But he said, As the LORDliveth, beforewhomI stand, I will receivenone. And he urgedhim to take it ; but he refused. And Naamansaid, Shall there notthen, I pray thee, be givento thy servanttwo mules' burdenof earth? forthy servantwill henceforthofferneitherburnt offeringnor sacrificeunto othergods, butunto the LORD. In thisthingthe LORDpardonthy servant, that when my mastergoethinto the houseof Rimmonto worshipthere, and heleanethonmy hand, and I bow myselfin the houseof Rimmon: when I bow down myselfin the houseof Rimmon, the LORDpardonthy servantin thisthing. And he saidunto him, Goin peace. So he departedfromhim a little way. But Gehazi, the servantof Elishathe manof God, said, Behold, my masterhath sparedNaamanthisSyrian, in not receivingat his handsthat whichhe brought: but, as the LORDliveth, I will runafterhim, and takesomewhatofhim. So GehazifollowedafterNaaman. And when Naamansaw him runningafterhim, he lighted downfromthe chariotto meethim, and said, Is all well? And he said, All is well. My masterhath sentme, saying, Behold, even nowthere be cometome from mountEphraimtwoyoung menof the sonsof the prophets: givethem, I pray thee, a talentof silver, and twochangesof garments. And Naamansaid, Be content, taketwo talents. And he urgedhim, and boundtwo talentsof silverin twobags, with twochangesof garments, and laid them upontwoof his servants; and they bore them beforehim. And when he cametothe tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the mengo, and they departed. But hewent in, and stoodbeforehis master. And Elishasaiduntohim, Whence comest thou , Gehazi? And he said, Thy servantwentnowhither. And he saiduntohim, Wentnotmine heart with thee , whenthe manturned againfromhis chariotto meetthee? Is it a timeto receivemoney, and to receivegarments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? The leprosytherefore of Naamanshall cleaveunto thee, and unto thy seedforever. And he went outfrom his presencea leper as white as snow.
