And it came to passin the ninthyearof his reign, in the tenthmonth, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babyloncame, he, and allhis host, againstJerusalem, and pitchedagainstit; and they builtfortsagainstit round about. And the citywas besiegeduntothe eleventhyearof kingZedekiah. And on the ninth day of the fourth monththe famineprevailedin the city, and there wasnobreadfor the peopleof the land. And the citywas broken up, and allthe menof war fled by nightby the wayof the gatebetweentwo walls, which is bythe king's garden: (now the Chaldees were againstthe cityround about:) and the king wentthe waytoward the plain. And the armyof the Chaldeespursuedafterthe king, and overtookhim in the plainsof Jericho: and allhis armywere scatteredfromhim. So they tookthe king, and brought him uptothe kingof Babylonto Riblah; and they gavejudgmentuponhim. And they slewthe sonsof Zedekiahbefore his eyes, and put outthe eyesof Zedekiah, and boundhim with fetters of brass, and carriedhim to Babylon. And in the fifthmonth, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenthyearof kingNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon, cameNebuzaradan, captainof the guard, a servantof the kingof Babylon, unto Jerusalem: And he burntthe houseof the LORD, and the king's house, and allthe housesof Jerusalem, and everygreat man's houseburnthe with fire. And allthe armyof the Chaldees, that were with the captainof the guard, broke downthe wallsof Jerusalemround about. Now the restof the people that were leftin the city, and the fugitivesthatfell awaytothe kingof Babylon, with the remnantof the multitude, did Nebuzaradanthe captainof the guardcarry away. But the captainof the guardleftof the poorof the land to be vinedressersand husbandmen. And the pillarsof brassthat were in the houseof the LORD, and the bases, and the brazenseathat was in the houseof the LORD, did the Chaldeesbreak in pieces, and carriedthe brassof them to Babylon. And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and allthe vesselsof brasswherewiththey ministered, took they away. And the firepans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold, and of silver, in silver, the captainof the guardtook away. The twopillars, onesea, and the baseswhichSolomonhad madefor the houseof the LORD; the brassof allthesevesselswaswithoutweight. The heightof the onepillar was eighteencubits, and the chapiteruponit was brass: and the heightof the chapiterthreecubits; and the wreathen work, and pomegranatesuponthe chapiterround about, allof brass: and like unto thesehad the secondpillarwithwreathen work. And the captainof the guardtookSeraiahthe chiefpriest, and Zephaniahthe secondpriest, and the threekeepersof the door: And out ofthe cityhe tookanofficerthatwas setoverthe menof war, and fivemenof them that werein the king's presence, whichwere foundin the city, and the principalscribeof the host, which musteredthe peopleof the land, and threescoremenof the peopleof the land that were foundin the city: And Nebuzaradancaptainof the guardtookthese, and broughtthem tothe kingof Babylonto Riblah: And the kingof Babylonsmotethem, and slewthem at Riblahin the landof Hamath. So Judahwas carried awayout oftheir land. And as for the peoplethat remainedin the landof Judah, whomNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylonhad left, even overthem he made Gedaliahthe sonof Ahikam, the sonof Shaphan, ruler. And when allthe captainsof the armies, theyand their men, heardthatthe kingof Babylonhad made Gedaliahgovernor, there cametoGedaliahto Mizpah, even Ishmaelthe sonof Nethaniah, and Johananthe sonof Careah, and Seraiahthe sonof Tanhumeththe Netophathite, and Jaazaniahthe sonof a Maachathite, theyand their men. And Gedaliahsworeto them, and to their men, and saidunto them, Fearnotto be the servantsof the Chaldees: dwellin the land, and servethe kingof Babylon; and it shall be wellwith you. But it came to passin the seventhmonth, that Ishmaelthe sonof Nethaniah, the sonof Elishama, of the seedroyal, came, and tenmenwithhim, and smoteGedaliah, that he died, and the Jewsand the Chaldeesthatwerewithhim at Mizpah. And allthe people, both smalland great, and the captainsof the armies, arose, and cameto Egypt: forthey were afraidofthe Chaldees. And it came to passin the sevenand thirtiethyearof the captivityof Jehoiachinkingof Judah, in the twelfthmonth, on the sevenand twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodachkingof Babylonin the yearthat he began to reigndid lift upthe headof Jehoiachinkingof Judahout of prison; And he spokekindlytohim, and sethis throneabovethe throneof the kingsthat were withhim in Babylon; And changedhis prisongarments: and he did eatbreadcontinuallybeforehim allthe daysof his life. And his allowance was a continualallowancegivenhim ofthe king, a dailyratefor every day, allthe daysof his life.
